504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Those who deny that BTC will rise to seven figures: clearly explain yourselves on: August 30, 2013, 09:05:34 AM
Seven figures, seriously?  You're talking about one bitcoin being worth $1,000,000, really?  Not even if bitcoin takes over the entire world economy will it be worth that much, see Turr Demeester's talk on the potential value of one bitcoin.

In case you don't want to watch the whole video, he crunches the numbers and calculates that each bitcoin will be worth $500,000 if it takes over the world economy.  I would be seriously surprised if it does that within my lifetime, but that's likely the ceiling on the price.  At least in nominal value, anyway.  If it does this, but takes 50 - 100 years to do so, it may be worth that much, but not in today's dollars.

$21T - $32T in tax haven accounts alone would bring the price to $1,000,000 - $1,500,000.

http://taxjustice.blogspot.ch/2012/08/interview-our-21-32-trillion-offshore.html

A lot of that tax haven stuff is business money, which really isn't likely to come into bitcoin.  The money of the millionaires / billionaires - well, they may invest some in bitcoin, but I'd be seriously surprised if they collectively put all $21 - $31 trillion in tax haven accounts into Bitcoin.

You said: Not even if bitcoin takes over the entire world economy will it be worth that much...

My prediction: Double digits are history. The weak hands are soon sold out and we'll hit $300 before new year.

This much upwards pressure is a very strong sign on a Sunday, seeing as how it is driven by very limited funds.   Once deposits start processing on Monday, expect a really good week.

I assume you aren't referring to USD deposits on Gox, correct?

Why do you assume he don't refer to USD deposits on Gox?

Because USD deposits and Withdrawals have not been allowed on mt.gox due to "banking problems" for like 2 months.

Chat buddy got a 7-combo on this page. New record?

I believed USD deposits took 7-10 days? If so, new funds will arrive every day.

I sold my BTC, nice profit. All USD right now.

I guess you'll be leaving us to go over to www.fiattalk.com from now on then?

No, I'm waiting for lower prices. I sold about 500 above $121 yesterday, it was the right thing to do.

I'll buy back in at some point. It might be next week, maybe not for months, who knows.

Please let us know when you buy back in. This could be fun  Cheesy

Relax. It's just the weekend dip.

Is that still a thing?

Yes, look at the last month. But it's happening on thursday because people want to dump before it's coming on friday.

Well, then its time to remember (again) the amazing "Hitler got screwed by Bitcoin weekend dip and is reminiscing about his Bitcoin mining career."

Every time I see it I crap my pants in laughter.

Do not worry. You do not daytrade, your coins are safe.   Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

so, buying something for btc online means you dont have to pay toll ? Smiley

You have to pay VAT (sales tax) when you buy something with BTC in Norway. But you don't have to pay VAT when you buy BTC, and the commision at Justcoin is exempt VAT.

In Norway you have to pay VAT when you buy gold, so this is good news.

That is nice to see, thanks for the post. Has Gox addressed this publicly though? Why just in a thread (and who are those characters? Any Gox affiliation?)

@MagicalTux is Gox owner Karpeles.

Dwolla doesn't deal with BTC (makes them totally useless)

I believe you can use Dwolla --> CampBX?
