501  Economy / Speculation / Re: ($820) i told you so on: December 23, 2016, 02:11:36 AM
Looks like we have the possibility to hit $900.
Even if we see a sharp drop, I doubt it would drop below $850 at this point.
502  Economy / Speculation / Re: We all gonna be filthy rich and here is why: on: December 23, 2016, 02:04:27 AM
The rise from $800 to $900 could be very quick, so early investors stand to make a LOT of money if they still have their coins.
Even if we see a small dip the bottom seems pretty high these days.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 23, 2016, 01:50:57 AM
Ok I'm actually holding off buying for now.
Bitcoin doesn't seem to be stopping and might actually hit $900 so I guess I'll wait a minute before buying back into Factom and Monero.

Factom is still an amazing product for the long term. Just trying to maximize the number of coins I can get. Smiley
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 23, 2016, 12:25:58 AM
how many people got shrekt here and are holding bags?

I sold everything just below 0.0042 and buying back in right now around 0.00285. (Seems like we're at the bottom again.)
Will hold on for the next wave, rinse and repeat at least a few more times, then HODL.
I'm still 99% sure Factom is a really good long-term investment.

Yes very impressed to see the price stable during the rise of Bitcoin.
Any recent news? I've heard people talking in some of the exchange trollboxes but no concrete information to go on.
506  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Where could I buy medicine for Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2016, 11:23:32 PM
I'm actually surprised someone hasn't started a business selling legal medicines on the web for Bitcoin.
There are probably a ton of people that either can't get the medicine they need or would save a lot importing it.
As long as you had a way to ship it to these countries, you might find a lot of customers.
And you wouldn't have to worry about breaking the law like you do when selling illegal goods on the darkweb.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 22, 2016, 11:17:07 PM
Definitely expected the GUI announcement to do more for the price in the short term.
Not concerned tho. I'm in it for the long-haul. Hopefully this will do more to steadily increase the userbase, which is what we really need anyways.
If we can get some more vendors and websites to start accepting XMR as payment, the sky is the limit IMO.
508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is your Bitcoin really worth $xxx.xx? on: December 22, 2016, 11:10:46 PM
Bitcoin is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it.
Thats whats really fun about it right now. Its a total gamble, and no one knows where the price is going to land.
Huge losses and gains will be made in the next couple weeks.
Wish I had the cash to invest in some really large amounts...
509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin have just dropped $20 in less than an hour. What happened ? on: December 22, 2016, 11:07:25 PM
Big ups, big downs.
Large swings right now. Market is still pretty volatile and no one is sure where the price will land.
Lots of people buying and selling large orders. Just a few percent profit is a ton of cash if you have enough to invest.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 21, 2016, 09:28:00 PM
Yes Bitcoin is not at all anonymous.
Its super easy to use any blockchain explorer, view a transaction, look at the addresses involved, and any previous transactions those addresses were involved in.
Obviously you can make a new address if you need to, but the fact that its so easy to trace payment amounts and the addresses involved is a huge issue in some cases.

If devs are looking for a logo, we must be pretty close to the release of the new GUI wallet?
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: somone steal btc from my wallet on: December 21, 2016, 08:43:13 PM
Also, is OP sure he didn't get drunk or something and make some deal/ buy something online?
Since its an address you have previously sent money to apparently, you may have done business with this person before.

Unless someone has an automated script to send small amounts of coin from an address at certain times,
which seems like a very strange way to steal coins. You might as well just take everything at one time, to be honest.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Made new video: Altcoins Worth Investing In on: December 21, 2016, 06:20:34 PM
Thanks for the video. Always good to hear what other investors think about alts.
I like how you specifically talk about your thought process for each coin, but if you can condense a video like this to twenty or twenty-five minutes,
(anything under a half hour probably)
it will probably get more people watching the entire thing.
I'll have to break it up into two sittings personally since forty-five minutes is long for a video in one sitting.
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Bo Shen on: December 21, 2016, 04:21:22 PM
Yes the ability to transfer a number to a new carrier with just a small amount of information is a serious vulnerability.
Most sites allow you to reset a password simply by sending an email, and most emails can be reset with a text message sent to the phone on record...

Apparently the Augur database that was compromised had the names, emails and phone numbers of early investors.
It seems like you should need some other identifying info if you couldnt provide the phones serial number to change the number to a new provider.
514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vote for best blockchain company 2016 by cointelegraf! on: December 21, 2016, 03:56:22 PM
It will actually be so hilarious if we see some of these coin devs and ICO starters arrested by the SEC for fraud.
I doubt it would ever happen, but even a few people going to prison would do a lot to discourage some of the scammers.
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My 2017 predictions on: December 21, 2016, 03:12:37 PM
Getting in on Monero now could be a good investment.
Apparently most people haven't caught on to the fact that the GUI wallet is about to be released.
That should help get more people interested in XMR for sure.
Now we just need to convince some more vendors/ sites to accept it as payment, and the future could be very bright.
516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Is The Better Tagline? on: December 21, 2016, 03:06:08 PM
I prefer "Join the Bitcoin revolution."
I understand some peoples aversion to the "revolution" tagline, since it may sound like we are trying to overthrow banks or the government,
but maybe that was the original idea of Satoshi Nakomoto, anyways.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero is one of the few altcoins that has been keeping its price up. on: December 21, 2016, 02:48:08 PM
I'm surprised the news about the GUI hasn't created more of an effect.
Either enough people don't know yet, or we won't see a bump until its actually released.
(Or I'm greatly over-estimating the value of an official Monero GUI.)
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Price Is At Lowest Point, It Is Time To Buy And Later Sale - Make Profit on: December 21, 2016, 10:00:50 AM
A lot of investors might keep their money in Bitcoin right now, so the price of alts is bound to get cheaper.
If you really believe in the long-term prospects of a project, you may be able to pick up some coins at a great price.

I'm a little hesitant to invest in Eth right now at the current price, I'm choosing to do a tiny investment in Monero and keep the rest in Bitcoin for now,
but if the price of Eth drops a bit further I might be tempted.
(Same for Augur which is a really cool idea.)
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Need a little explanation regarding reading stock chart on: December 21, 2016, 09:56:52 AM
Most sites default to show the change over the last 24 hours when you first look at a currency.
You will either need to be looking at a site that shows change based on the range you select, or do some calculations yourself.

As DannyHamilton pointed out, with some basic math you can figure out how much the price has changed compared to what you paid.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump picks "Bitcoin Congressman" Mulvaney for budget chief among others. on: December 21, 2016, 01:24:46 AM
Non-interference is more than good enough.

Agreed. As long as we have a couple people in the Trump team who have some form of investment in Bitcoin business,
or at least an understanding of Blockchain technology,
they hopefully won't be passing laws trying to go after Bitcoin users or passing regulations that stop development.
