So, do u think it is managable for a newbie to set up a masternote without real knowlege of linux. I already found the HowTo, which looks straight forward. But when you can rent a server for for as little as arround 4 bucks from the AlQO guys, why have all the hassle? Or am I mistaken? They set everything up (and provide the static IP needed for the MD?) and you only need to provide the 10000 ALQO more ore less. Please correct me if i am wrong!
You are right, it is easier for you to rent an ALQO managed server if you are a newbie in linux. It is also easy to setup masternode on your own by following the setup guide and you can replicate the same setup for other coins with masternodes. When I started with masternodes almost a year ago, I didn't know linux as well. Although I am not experienced linux command line user, I know now what to do thanks to masternodes.  |

To be exact, Swedish E-krona would not certainly be the first national (state-run) cryptocurrency. Venezuela introduced their own cryptocurrency called "Petro" a few months ago. I am always aware when a certain country announces such an intention to run its own cryptocurrency because it usually means centralized cryptocurrency with very strong control of government or national bank.  |

There is one biggest obstacles - taxes. You have to get paid in currency in which you can also pay taxes (primarily income taxes). It is a core principle of all economies in the world. Therefore the first step is for states to accept cryptocurrencies as means of taxes. And of course volatility is also my concern. |

We will rather see some smaller positive price spikes and a period of low volatiliy. Afterwards there might come another "bull run" but it is very probably going to be much slower growth. Of course some coins may still "skyrocket" making cherrypickers very happy. |

You have drawn my attention. The concept seems to be well thought out. However, why exactly do you need blockchain technology for this purpose? Thinking on a high level, you could build a well secured database that is fast to search in, and can anonymize research data.

Well, i agree. It was not the good way to go and just do the changes without a vote (especially when claiming 100% governance). ANY IMPORTANT changes to the system must go through a vote now IMO. Otherwise you get the problems, we got now with angry miners and confused MN owners regarding updates and downtimes of their MNs, which leads to uncertainty and stress that could have been avoided.
I will oppose you in this case. A chainsplit is a very specific emergency situation which requires immediate and decisive action. In my opinion, team followed through correctly, they took all necessary steps to clear the situation and make the blockchain run. Voting would probably lead to delayed solution, further continuation of splitted chains, losses for miners and even bigger disappointment among MN holders. It has been hard time for ALQO but it remains strong. Another voting after the dust settles is a great decision. Before the update there was no chainsplit and i am not quite sure why they had to release the update as fast as they did. They did remove the zerocoin protcoll from the update befor releasing it, but they could have done the vote before the update or am I wrong there? Another topic: the newly released alqo-qt.exe https://github.com/ALQOCRYPTO/ALQO/releases/ is not syncing with the blockchain.The block explorer is also under maintainance and i have no idea if my MN is running. This is very annoying. edit: new qt.exe is syncing now, after i deleted everything except: qt.exe, wallet.da and masternode.conf and restarted. The update that changed payout structure (in favour of MN holders) was released as a response to strong bearish pressure on price (some other reasons also applied). Theoretically, you are right, there could have been voting before the original update. This is standard situation after sidechain/splitchain attempts. Official pool will eventually fix the original blockchain, and explorer will be refreshed. You can check the deamon if your MN is running. It could have been much worse .. |

I really hope it is some partnership and not exchange. At least their awesome video implies it should not be an exchange. We need now more partners and/or real life usage. I really hope we shake off all doubters and only real supporters hold tokens. I know i am holding them and get those sweet equity shares later this year. Why do people continue to act as if an Altcoin is akin to buying stock in a company? The future of blockchain tech is extremely bright and will in all likelihood revolutionize many different industries. However, 99% of the Altcoins have no utility and will never have a utility. Yet, people hype, and buy some of these coins to the point they have a market cap in the hundreds of millions, if not billions. It's appears to me that people are treating Altcoins like stock? Despite how promising a blockchain's premise is, the Altcoin associate with that specific blockchain, does not give someone ownership or right to dividends. The Altcoin has no intent on utility and has simply been used to raise funds like an IPO. For example Ripple, 3rd largest crypto with a market cap of $19b. Ripple is a great idea and a perfect example of how Blockhain can revolutionize an industry. Many big name banks around the world have signed up to use Ripple's blockchain, which has clearly helped propel XRP to such a huge market cap. Except Ripple's blockchain doesn't require the banks to use XRP and they can simply use Fiat currencies. Furthermore, the banks have said they have no interests in using XRP. The fact Ripples blockchain can facilitate fiat currency, pretty much renders XRP useless. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-25/ripple-wants-xrp-to-be-bitcoin-for-banks-if-only-the-banks-wanted-itOwning XRP does not mean you own a piece of Ripple and the huge potential of their blockchain. I don't mean to pick on XRP, but it's value makes it an easy target. Almost every other Altcoin appears to have an even less promising future then XRP when it comes to their utility. Perhaps I'm missing something though...... You are right, majority of cryptocurrency investors are missing the point, and they blindly follow others' investment choices hoping they will make big returns. Although these investors are wrong about the nature of cryptocurrency market, they still can (and probably will) make money of it. In the short term you don't have to be right about the market, you just need a few more investors to join later than you did. |

It reminds me of situation among lots of altcoins in late summer 2017, after the big spring price rally. There were quite a long period of time with decreasing volatility, low volume and occasional price spikes driven mostly by price speculators. I assume we are entering very similar market conditions, and we will very probably see more of such spikes.
