5141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any word on why Bitcoin has dropped 30% in the last 3 or 4 days??? on: July 03, 2013, 10:39:22 PM

-> Economy/Speculation

Thats where those discussions are located.

Why? I would say. 60% pure psychology. 40% problems surrounding mtGox.
5142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lost my faith on: July 03, 2013, 10:24:15 PM
I'm afraid I've lost my faith in Bitcoin. Somebody save me..

thats because you are reading the high price which is always volatile.. check out the monthly low price.. you will see there is a constant rise. the low price is more of the indicator of true value and growth indicators.. the high price is just pure speculation and should be ignored for long term investors

+1 this

Unfortunately I seem to buy higher than the lows. Wink  I guess the new "low" should eventually catch up to my average bitcoin price I paid of $120.  Hopefully anyways . . .

When USD's reign is over (AND IT WILL)...

CRYPTO will take the crown..

FIAT and cryptos can coexist for a long period of time, without any need for one of them to rule the other. its a silly understanding of things that there always has to be one thing/currency that rules the others.

and yes cryptos will succeed, but its not written that it has to be BTC. BTC hat many flaws (i.e. 51%-problem) that remain unsolved and that makes it vulnerable.

in fact the 51% issue and the possibility that the network gets stuck after a big price drop is a very strong argument against BTCs. when i first heard about BTC i was told that its unhackable, absolutely safe and reliable. now i know that its not so relialbe. the network could be easily attacked and wrecked...

BTC will rise again and will succeed, but longterm another currency is needed.
5143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lost my faith on: July 03, 2013, 10:18:23 PM
why do you think coinbase is a "goldman sachs operation"?

It prolly is...
"it's probably true therefore it must be true!"

 Grin

its funny to see how everytime the btc price dips. those conspiracy-idiots come into play and are telling everybody that goldman sachs is the reason.

BTC address? Would like to donate you some.
5145  Economy / Speculation / Re: the price is falling, the price is falling!!! on: July 02, 2013, 12:32:11 AM

Cashing in and out of BTCs is pretty difficult at the moment. The community hasnt come up with a working solution to solve the bottleneck problem.

So we have got a decentralized currency but the exchanges are very centralized and shut down as soon as the public is giving some attention to BTCs.

Those problems are the underlying condition imo.

Imagine we get a steep ride to 120$ again and big interest is coming back. And then? MtGox will shut down most likely and we get the next panic selling that brings us under 100$ again.

5153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here's the scammer behind notroll.in. Do what you want, he deserves justice. on: June 18, 2013, 10:24:04 AM

Honestly there is a good chance you could get your money back by contacting his parents.

This boy is a teen, he most likely lives with his parents. Inform them what happend, they ask him, he admits and there is a good chance they are going to pay.

Of course then comes step two. Who is going to accept the moniez? Maybe an escrow? Johnk?

And, who owns which shares?

JMHO

The above brings up a good point, if he is a teenager his parents are responsible for his actions. I am not sure about the laws outside of the U.S. can anybody chime in?

I dont know about the law situation either. But what i can assure is that if i would have done such a fraud as a teenager and somebody called my parents and was able to proof it. They would have certainly paid those 10.000$ on their own and i would have to pay it back to them in the coming months/years.

You gotta love those BS comments beneath the article:

"The total number of coins will never be allowed to exceed 21 million." says who?
Bitcoin has no legal status and no legal existence (and transactions are anonymous).
This is has all the characteristics of a ponzi scheme and all ponzi scheme eventually collapse.
Furthermore, this is the most stupid waste of electricity ever created."

5157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offical launch of PhenixCoin.com on: June 13, 2013, 08:15:04 PM
Price of PhenixCoin is now at $ 0.02 (0.00018 BTC).

When the new sites are launched (can't disclose all but it's big, bigger than DGC) it will go up to $ 0.20 at least, so 500% profitability against BTC at current difficulty.

I'm not crazy, I'm mining PXC 24/7.

In terms of profitability its would be much wiser then to just buy PXC, instead of mining it.

I both mine and buy PXC.
Without miners, there is no PXC network and mined PXC would become worthless.

So both is needed Smiley
It's not all about "profitability", if it was Bitcoin could die when price drops 30%.

When I support a coin, I support it, not only if profitability is >100%.

You were arguing with "500% profitability". All i am saying is that: In terms of profitability its would be much wiser then to just buy PXC, instead of mining it.

I you want to support PXC go ahead! But dont fool people into mining PCX with promises of future profitability where there is simply no such profitabilty.

For two days worldcoin was profitable 600% and up. So don't think that it is impossible. Think before you speak.

LOL! Nawazish. Think before you speak. Exactly.

Nobody says 500% or 5000% isnt possible, but this future profitability calculatiuon is just bogus. It simply doesnt make sense to mine it when you expect a rise to $0.20. Then you actually should buy it, or mine some other coins and convert them to PCX. But maybe that already to much math i guess...

The only reason would be that you want to support that coin for whatever reasons. Thats OK. But dont tell people here that mining makes sense cause price will rise to $0.20!
5158  Economy / Economics / Re: Stock bitcoins and stop selling. Let price go above 200$ on: June 13, 2013, 01:06:05 PM
Thats just what i thought - why can't just everyone stop selling under 680 $ :-)

Funny thing is: Buyers could do the same and just stop buying above 30$. And then?

Price will stay high and buyer will buy bitcoins at high, if they need bitcoins.

LOL!

Why not?

Price will stay low and seller will sell bitcoins at low, if they need moniez.

And believe me there are way more desperate miners out there that need to pay their bills with BTCs as there are buyers who are in a desperate need of BTCs.

Market price moves from traders not from individuals selling bitcoins for cash.

You dont get it do you?

Whats proposed here is basically a sellers strike. There is absolutely no reason why there shouldnt be a buyers strike possible too.

When you have got two parties standing in front of each other and one is demanding 640$ and the other is offering 30$ it comes basically to the point who is willing in to accept the others side offer first.

And there is absolutely no reason why this side should be the buyers side!

Bitcoins cant be compared to corn, wheat or whatever where there is a basic demand for. Nobody NEEDS Bitcoins.

You said it yourself, basically its all just traders. Nobody of those traders really NEEDS Bitcoins.
