Personally I don't care much for Vegas as I've been there many times.  If there is enough support and donations, I rather invite volunteers from the forum to go there and staff the floor with expense paid by the donation. Placing 2 people in the hotel rooms for 3 nights can't be too bad compare to other cities in the US.  6 people to run the floor.  Local labor to setup the booth/floor space before and after the show.  I'm sure there are enough forum members from Los Angeles, Arizona, Nevada and Utah area to join if we could cover their pre-diem and reasonable travel expenses to be covered.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bitcoin for Gamble...)

It's time for the positive exposure!

In a long run, we could all benefit from higher bitcoin exchange values

Good excuse to go to vegas

Wasp is another option!  And 2 mentioned above.  I would say contact all 3, and tell them exactly what you have and what you want out of them.  I'm sure they can give you the price quote and time frame.  Then you can decide which company to go with.  I would say all 3 are reputable.

523  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: November 27, 2013, 08:56:58 AM
I'm looking at it right now...

The difficulties will sure go up in the next few days or by end of the week but we don't know the exact number.  Hope it's not that bad.  Also, it will depends on how high the BTC value goes up, too.  (If you cash out the BTC daily to FIAT $$$ or keep the BTC for later FIAT Exchange when the price is right)

Either way, the auction winner will get what they paid for back + some extra if the BTC values keep going up + resale value of the miner. They will more than likely have 10 - 20% ROI or more if they play the game right which is better than the traditional investment opportunities. (But the risk is always there!)

Some of the 1st round winners are mining about 0.16 BTC a day and could be a bit more depends on the luck.

Doing the ROI Math is very complex one.  If you are serious about making profit, you gotta have the endgame plan how you are going to get max profit out of your investment and how much effort you can afford to put into the project.  The online calculator will give you only 1 aspect of the number.  There are so many other factors built into the Bitcoin Inestment, if that is what you are going after.

Also, not everyone buy miners to make profit, some are for their hobby and others with other reasons.

Following this thread for a bit, unfortunately missed both of the auctions...

That, said anyone can explain me please how AntMiner going to pay itself off due to big diff jump in a few days?

Will be happy if someone checks my calculations.

Great!

Let me know what kind of expensive floor tiles you bought!   Grin Grin Grin

Just kidding...  But seriously, Glad to hear your AntMiner is almost there!

Could you share happy family photo with your miner? (May be a card with the username or Part of the world?

525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know anyone in the REAL WORLD who has bought bitcoin? on: November 27, 2013, 08:32:27 AM
Seems like more and more people are signing up for the exchange to buy BTC.  Businesses are start to accept BTC as just like another credit card by using Bitpay and other payment gateway services and coding on the shopping cart.

Private Taxi and Limo in NYC takes BTC for the fair via smartphone.

May be contact KnC and see if you can be one of their new investor?

Hey, If you put the cash into the Exchange, I'll trade it for you daily!  Short Sales   Grin

I haven't heard from this guy how the problem was fixed...  I wish I could know so I could add it to the list of trouble shooting section

I wander where he purchased the Antminer from as Bitmain said there was no record of sale directly to this user.  May be his/her buddy purchased it for him/her?

528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CES 2014 Booth? on: November 27, 2013, 06:57:09 AM
What I was thinking was to Open the Crowd Funding to do Simple Random Act of Kindness Booth. (No Foundation, No Political Connections what so ever type)  I'm sure there are many opinions about the Bitcoin Foundation's direction to red list the bitcoins but Simply NOT GET INVOLVED on any of that, Just the Happy Give Away Day.  Nothing in Return. (Pure Positiveness for the Bitcoin)

Generic Bitcoin Banner at the nice space, then Simply give away small fraction of Bitcoin Wallet ($5-$10 USD) and free Bitcoin T-Shirt

Minimal Commercial Affiliation.  May be a small logos on the Bitcoin Wallet and back-side of the free give away t-shirt.  On the TV Monitor Display, simply play the Bitcoin Video from Bitcoin.Org.

this way, Just a Positive Day rather than selling anything at the booth!

To Secure the floor space, time is running out as it is less than 2 months away.  What do you think? 15 Bitcoins or so to secure the nice floor space and another 10 Bitcoins or so to make lots of Bitcoin Wallets and several hundreds of free T-Shirt.

Just created the new Wallet just for this purpose.  If the donation was not enough to secure the floor space, I may piggy back with others to join the exhibitor and give away the BTC Wallets or Carry it over to the next Tech Related Large Conference and do the give away there

Let's give Bitmain some time.  I'm sure when they are ready, we all get to see it.

By the way, now, I'm going to try to make the setup guide better, if any of you got a speed bump setting up the AntMiner or while using it, please let me know, so I can put it up how to deal with it.

Again, I'll be up here for the next few hours.  List here or PM me, it doesn't matter!

With that much capital, you might want to find a few more equal partners and start your own Chip Design, then in 3-5 months you'll be mining like no others.  All the 28nm or 20nm chips to yourself.

or Simply invest in the exchange market.  You may not double in really a short time, but you can get 10% or more return each day if you ride the wave right in short sales.

800k to drop on mining hardware... any ideas?
534  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: November 27, 2013, 04:11:21 AM
Bitmain Antminer...  More works to be done to start running it than BFL, but it hashes away

535  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup Guide] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: November 27, 2013, 03:46:47 AM
Good point about the redish LED.  I didn't think about that.  I will take a picture and add it into the guide.

For your PSU wise, are you using the yellow +12V line from the 4pin molex (SATA/IDE) cable?  If so, don't do that, it will heat up quite a bit. (Most molex cable can support 60-80W but the miner needs at least 180W on one side)

If the main PCI ATX or PCI-E +12V lines are getting to the point you can't touch, you may want to check if your PSU is strong enough to support it, or if there is too much resistance on the line for whatever the reasons.  The lines from the AntMiner I'm running doesn't get hot at all and it's on the 450W PSU with +12V from PCI-E and PCI ATX lines. (1 Line I double up the cable for both Yellow and Black just to be sure/safe because I want to let it run without attending the unit everyday.)

Everything seems to work fine the way you describe. I put the 3 cables on the blade with the control board and the other 2 on the second. The miner runs fine and it hashes as advertised (180GH/s). The power cables are a bit hot to the touch, but not extremely. I'll monitor more closely for the first days, but I guess this is expected.

Thanks for your guide, it was very helpful. I was a bit surprised by the red led at first, but since everything is running fine I guess it is normal. Maybe it's worth mentioning in the guide...

Hey, can you tell me what's wrong with your AntMiner?  I might be able to help!  PM me with the detail

I received the machine does not work, can not contact sales services.
537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup Guide] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: November 26, 2013, 05:09:09 PM
Great Info!  Grad that worked!
538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup Guide] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: November 26, 2013, 02:32:01 PM
The wattage I provided was measured using the powered up AntMiner connected to the 450W PSU, then the PSU's power plug was connected to the KillAWatt thing.  Then that KillAWatt was connected to the wall, if that will clarify.

4-Pin Molex wise, some PSU send out +5V and not enough juice, but if your PSU send out +12V on the 4-Pin Molex or SATA/IDE line, then you can extend those and power up the AntMiner. (+12V from the 4-Pin Molex is not recommended as it usually has a low wattage maximum)

539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup Guide] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: November 26, 2013, 01:36:59 PM
Pulling the power from some of the Molex will get the miner power up but if it's not the native +12V line, I will NOT recommend it.  I tried it here as an experiment, some PSU will not power up the miner and the other did, but the Molex cable got really hot.

So, if  you can avoid using the SATA/IDE/Molex power line to convert it to PCI or PCI-E via Extenders.  It's a NO NO!!!

If you can afford it, and just 1 AntMiner, invest in 450W PSU that is rated 80PLUS and has enough dedicated +12 lines.  It will give you the peace of mind for a while.

This is that connector:

I would extend this PCI-E 6 pin and connect to ANTminer.
