521  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: URGENT: What is next and legitimate on MtGox after the security issue? on: June 19, 2011, 09:35:00 PM
The funds didnt come from one user, the hacker had access to the database hence the leaked passwords. He simply credited his mtgox account with bitcoins and sold them.

The bitcoins that sold didnt belong to one person they belonged to everybody that had BTC in mtgox, including YOU. Thats why it was so large, it was literally the whole wallet.dat belonging to mtgox.

On the bright side mtgox used multiple wallets to share the risk, or everything would have been sold.

I think you are wrong. The message at mt gox clearly states:

"One account with a lot of coins was compromised and whoever stole it (using a HK based IP to login) first sold all the coins in there"

One account, that's all. Not to mention, I was trading at the time of the crash. My coins and USD were not compromised.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breakdown of top email domains: on: June 19, 2011, 09:22:51 PM
Cool, lots of gmail. Now someone need to email them all and tell them to change their passwords and beware of suspicious emails.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox UPDATE on: June 19, 2011, 09:18:39 PM
The rollback is inevitable, and the right thing to do. If it were just a system glitch or a typo, would you still say "what's done is done"? These weren't real trades. Sorry if you don't get to keep 10,000 bitcoins bought at $.10. I'd be pissed too, but there is not an alternative.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Writing on the Wall on: June 19, 2011, 09:14:05 PM
I don't think this is a fatal blow. Bad press is still publicity. In three months, or a year, all that will matter is that the name bitcoin got out, not what exactly happened.
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else get a Paypal change Notice when signing up for Mt Gox? on: June 19, 2011, 09:09:09 PM
You email from mt gox is in the wild. Everyone be warned. Be very cautious opening emails.
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 interesting replies found at mtgox website about the rolling back on: June 19, 2011, 09:07:39 PM
I think the rollback it necessary and fine. Mt Gox might just have to take losses from people who withdrew. I'm sure not all that many did.
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Look on the Bright Side! on: June 19, 2011, 09:03:49 PM
I'm sure they are using the weighted 24hr average to determine what $1000 of bitcoins is. At the lowest, it hit $4. So 250 bitcoins.
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL mtgox password has been compromised, change asap, everywhere you used it on: June 19, 2011, 08:59:19 PM
Someone with a network should email everyone on the list and let them know.
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 interesting replies found at mtgox website about the rolling back on: June 19, 2011, 08:45:07 PM
If you withdrew, they will rollback and subtract what you withdrew. If you withdrew more than you had before the rollback, they may have to just cover the losses. They've made enough to. I just hope they don't decide the losses are to much and restarting isn't worth it since they lost everyone's trust and disappear.

Perhaps they will put your account negative and require you to return the funds to continue trading.
530  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitoption.org API Discussion on: June 19, 2011, 08:32:54 PM
Security sounds good. I actually realized I had no real reason to question it, but better safe than sorry. Odd that the mt gox hack stuff is going down right after I asked about your site. I guess I should have been asking about theirs.
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL mtgox password has been compromised, change asap, everywhere you used it on: June 19, 2011, 08:15:06 PM
They have my username and the email I signed up with. I cannot confirm that it is my password. The hash must be salted.

533  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitoption.org -- ESCROWED LIVE Bitcoin Options Trading on: June 19, 2011, 07:46:24 PM
Any chance we can get a rollback too? I made some stupid decisions to try and get some cash in order to buy low during the hackcrash.

Its ok I guess, it wasn't that bad. That's what I get for being reactionary.
534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mtgox hack confirmed on: June 19, 2011, 07:44:01 PM
If you have money on Tradehill it is time to buy bitcoins. You just heard from MTGOX that they will reset the price  at over 17. Good luck

LOL... mtgox has no control of the price. Oh man that's a doozy. The price is controlled by what someone is willing to pay for them.

Yes, but they are rolling back to right when everyone had bids and asks right at 17.5, so it will start there. It may crash quickly though, but I'm not sure.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone cashed out on mtgox - price from $17 to $0.01 in minutes! on: June 19, 2011, 06:49:57 PM
Sounds like it was legit orders after all. Someone with lots of btc was hacked.

That can't be right, if they were hacked, the bitcoins would have been sent out, not sold. It is too hard to get USD out. Mt Gox won't let stolen USD be removed.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Psychopath dumped 500k btc, at least 261k of it at $0.01 [screenshot] on: June 19, 2011, 06:45:50 PM
It did take out everything in between, I can confirm that.
537  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anybody with a bitcoin sell order just got wiped out! on: June 19, 2011, 06:30:14 PM
I think you mean buy order.
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be Careful reading a 1 sided market - what volume actually traded < $10? on: June 19, 2011, 06:24:04 PM
And mt gox crashes.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone cashed out on mtgox - price from $17 to $0.01 in minutes! on: June 19, 2011, 06:17:19 PM
They were all good trades, someone just cashed out majorly. Or maybe I'm wrong.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone cashed out on mtgox - price from $17 to $0.01 in minutes! on: June 19, 2011, 06:04:17 PM
I'm not making it up
I even told you guys to buy in real time when this was happening
don't be jealous that I am smarter and now richer than you

We all tried to buy them at .01, but none of us could get mt gox to respond.
