Just messed up.  We need to expose the idiot doing this.  Just hurting the crypto community and is plain wrong.

No wonder the numbers were jumping huge on the exchanges!  Great news!
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many people have you convinced to get Bitcoins? on: November 16, 2013, 11:34:19 PM
I have had the opportunity to convince two people to purchase Bitcoins.  They purchased $6700 combined and both are up (a lot!) since owning them.  I suspect they will be telling their friends and more purchases will be coming. How many people have you convinced to purchase BTC?

-------------

If I'd once told you intangible coins would be the biggest gainers in 2013, you'd call me nuts.

But as we head toward 2014, Bitcoin has already put up 3,311% returns. In the midst of a bull market in Bitcoin, one headline reads "Why Bitcoin is Going to $1 Million."

A bit of reality
Even after rocketing to $450 per Bitcoin, the total market size is still under $5.5 billion. That's a tiny sum, smaller than the valuation of 969 public companies, and about the amount the government debt grew each day in 2009.

In the past 30 days, average volume at one leading exchange, Bitstamp, has been about $7 million. So it doesn't take much to swing the market.

And that's what has so many people believing that the price of Bitcoin can explode. As I write this, there are only 5,458 Bitcoins standing in the way of a $500 price per bitcoin. That is to say you could move the market more than 10% with a purchase of less than $2.5 million.

What happens if big money gets involved?
A big question among enthusiasts is what happens if conventional asset managers get behind Bitcoin. What if billions of dollars, not millions, were to flood into the market?

It's impossible to know, really. But what we can know is that the price would absolutely have to go higher. Right now, all bitcoins in existence are worth all of $5.2 billion. You couldn't buy $10 billion of Bitcoin at the current price right now. There isn't enough in existence.

The hedge fund industry alone manages $2 trillion. It only takes a few Bitcoin believers of the asset management industry to send Bitcoin to heights it's never before seen.

But at the same time, the opposite can happen. A single sale of 4,800 bitcoins would send prices falling all the way to $400, from $455. That's just the cold, harsh reality of an illiquid market. Relatively small amounts of money can swing values up and down with incredible force.

Bitcoin is the ultimate in speculation. It doesn't produce cash flow. There isn't any real way to value it other than to accept what someone else is willing to pay.

And given that it's a completely new idea, one never tried before, there's no way to know where it all ends. But for many people, it's become a way to dream -- a way to think that one day, maybe, just maybe, that $455 Bitcoin might be something more than pie in the sky.

526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LEAKED! BTC Creator: Joakim Schmitz+6 Associates =Satoshi Nakamoto! on: November 16, 2013, 07:18:01 PM

My dad works for the NSA unfortunately here in the USA and was really intoxicated last night and started to tell me about a "Top Secret" case in regards to who wrote:

Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System

http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

They correlated together to come up with the proposal above. It makes sense, they had to hide the money somehow. Apparently they discussed this on something known as " Shangri-La called X.25 " which was basically a pre-Internet closed network!

Long live Bitcoin! 'Vires In Numeris' . . .all it takes! 51% >>

Boy you are incredibly stupid to be spreading confidential NSA information.  Just like snowden, they will be after you.  They will probably also hang your dad for talking.

And......your full of sh*t.......I doubt there is 1 person on the forum who believes you.
527  Other / Off-topic / 2013-11-15 Science Friday: Should Sending Cash Be As Easy As Sending E-mail? on: November 16, 2013, 08:19:35 AM
Science Friday Podcast (NPR News)

Below is a 5 minute podcast about sending money via your cellphone.  Unbelievably there is NO mention of Bitcoin.  It's amazing that some people (including the Verge interviewed person in the podcast) are still clueless about the greatest technlogical innovation of this century.  Although BTC is not mentioned, I thought others may be interested of others ignorance or may want to post a comment on the site.  Smiley

Funny thing is, while Peter bashes bitcoin on his talk show thousands of new people are introduced to BTC.  These listeners will do their own research and come to conclusions on their own.  I see a lot of BTC converts just from his show!    More news the better.......

IOS. without jail break..

Without jailbreaking?! Why would you not jailbreak?

You can't jailbreak (yet) the new ios 7.  Some people like myself upgraded because of the features and are patiently waiting for a new jailbreak.

Also,  did you know apple apps run faster and smoother than android apps?  Reason is they run the code native to the OS.  Android apps are all running in a small emulator (dalvik) and this causes overhead.  Reason they run "In emulated" mode is there are so many different android hardware variations.  Google has come up with a way to fix this issue and is now releasing "ART" in the newest 4.4 kitkat.  It will take time for developers to make their apps utilize ART, but eventually android apps will run code native.  Big speed gains will be coming for android.

This article explains ART in more detail:

531  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any way to emulate Apple apps on Android? on: November 12, 2013, 04:48:00 AM
I was wondering if this was possible because of the amount of apps which aren't available on android but are on itunes.

Even if there were an emulator, how would you download the programs from iTunes?

Getting the programs is not an issue at all.  There are lots of sites that provide Ios apps for the jailbreak community (taken straight from ITunes.)

Will installing the update bri k your phone, or will auto unroot?  Currently on root + custom ROM (which auto updates).

Android
Factory updates will not brick your phone and they will close root access but usually you cannot update to (OTA) stock if you have a custom recovery & rom installed.  If you update a custom rom then it is totally in your control.  If you do everything correctly you should have no problem.  If you do something stupid, like flash a rom from another phone model, then you will likely brick.  However, Most phones nowadays have the ability to be repaired easily through software if you do mistakenly brick it.

537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: something i didn't realize when backing up my wallet on: November 08, 2013, 05:52:18 AM
Unfortunately new users believe they are backing up their one private key.  Not realizing behind the scenes new one are being created.  New wallets should somehow make the user aware of this so they know to make new backups.

Even though I agree on some points of the poster above. Nexus isn't the best nor will be.
The camera is horrible compared to others.

Disagree....members can take a look at these Nexus 4 photos and decide for themselves if they are "horrible" or not:

These particular pics shows how clear and detailed the STOCK camera can be:

I heard the new Nexus was sold out pretty fast.
This is correct. Poor countries that don't have google play store.
The supply was low again even though demand was high.

Nexus is the only way to go!

First to get newest android updates (I'm already running KitKat 4.4)
No bloat
1/2 cost of other similar phones
Leading edge technology inside
More customizable-more developers-more roms
Longer software support upgrade
Phone can do things that others can't (like Multi Boot...including other OS like Ubuntu and FireFoxOS)
They hold their value (look what a N4 is still going for a year later....only dropped 33% after 1 year)
Not sim carrier locked
Bootloader unlockable

Iphone 4 is the best if you jailbreak it...

Not even close.  I have jailbroke Ipad and rooted Android.  No comparison.

Why would you say iphone 4 is the best?  Have you heard of the iPhone 5s? Spec wise, it kills.  And when/if it is jailbroke it would be real nice.  Still limited however to the programs you can run on android.
