5241  Other / Meta / @mods:50 reports of shill posts in the same thread marked bad. What went wrong? on: December 13, 2020, 09:43:42 PM
So, earlier today I reported approximately 100 posts from this thread that obviously hired bumping service [ANN] Cryptoenter - THE WORLD'S FIRST DEFI SERVICE ON THE ENTERPRISE BLOCKCHAIN! .

Whole thread is full of one-liner shill post so I was surprised when I saw that almost half of those reports are marked as bad, while other half is still unhandled, with few posts that got deleted. Here are few examples of the posts I reported but were marked as bad for some reason, even though it's obvious what is going on here.

Hello guys, not yet added to ibm public marketplace?

Who created this platform and when, is there a little information about it?

Hello everyone, what are the main functions of this project?

So what are your plans for the end of this year?

I like your project, I would like to give you advice: set only measurable specific goals and clearly understand how they will be assessed, I wish you good luck in further development.

Hello, what community events do we have now?And do you plan to provide video ama or stream?I think that would be a good idea.

Hello guys and have a nice day, meyan has a question that interests me,what about listing on exchanges?

What about cryptoenter platform? Is beta test is over?

Beside writing that one-liner nonsense, majority of accounts used are newbies created during 2018/2019 and now suddenly woke up when Cryptoenter ANN appeared, and are writing exclusively there. Looks like an obvious case of thread bumping. Or at least I though it is.

If those are not shitposts that deserve to be deleted, then I have no idea what shitposts are. I mean, I understand that misclick happens so few reports might get marked bad by accident, but 50?
5242  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam accusations against SupremosKaiosama (alt of Humbertin) on: December 13, 2020, 02:32:04 PM
UTC−05:00  takes in Colombia (which has been established as being Humbertin's point of origin) and Ecuador.  (or are people going to say it's UTC+05:00 which takes in Pakistan  Roll Eyes )
Since you claim that this guy Humbertin is from Colombia, isn't that the evidence  that webtricks and him are not the same person? I see that webtricks is active in Indian local board and has few posts in Hindi.

Somehow I doubt that webtricks is writing there since 2017 as a part of the disguise.

edit: @webtricks apologies, corrected.
5243  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is this a scam? on: December 13, 2020, 10:38:59 AM
I found this video that seems too good to be true. I don't understand how it would be scam, can someone shed some light on this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtCoBG97X68&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=ChairStacker
Do you really think that someone would publicly disclose strategy that makes him millions of dollars? You don't even have to watch the video, just the title "I went from $50 to $1 million" is enough to know that it is nothing but a scam, trying to sell this "strategy" to those that are gullible enough to contact him.

This is as legit as those selling fixed matches for 20 bucks.
5244  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] xTRX Using spam bump service on: December 13, 2020, 09:32:13 AM
Thanks. I'll see if I can report every posts one by one. which requires little bit more time. I'll try to do that.
Np. I just reported all those shill posts so no need for you to report as well.

I don't think ICObench care much about bitcointalk threads anymore. those golden times are gone when icobench and coinmarketcap listed new coins bases of their Bitcointalk threads. and Poloniex too.
ICObench doesn't list projects based on bitcointalk, but they do give score based on bitcointalk ANN thread activity, among other social media channels. Rating there is  completely misleading and fake, but newbies still believe those, and projects are still boasting with rating on their websites, albeit not as much as year or two ago. Here is how it looks (I took some random project screenshot).

5245  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] xTRX Using spam bump service on: December 13, 2020, 08:52:20 AM

I've reported the thread as well.
Unless you can provide proof that they are giving money/tokens/whatever in exchange for comments (and that means screenshots from their website  or maybe telegram group) thread will stay there. So far all my similar reports for threads that hired bumping service stayed unhandled, but who knows, maybe you'll have more luck with this.

What you can do is to report individual posts written there and hope that they will stop once they see posts are disappearing.

So if nothing else they are wasting their money, while not disturbing others or gaining visibility.
Trackers like that scammy ICObench are taking into consideration bitcointalk activity when rating projects so that may be one of the  reasons why thread bumping is still alive and kicking, despite being completely ineffective in terms of increasing visibility on bitcointalk.
5246  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Moneta - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: December 12, 2020, 10:26:38 AM
Rikafip maybe it is time to stop playing foolishly. Have you ever heard of Marketing?
What Is Marketing? - can you please read, and ask yourself after how one shall conduct business?
Those that sold you this service like to call themselves "marketing agency" which is just an euphemism for shilling. What they conveniently forgot to mention when they sold you this is that some time ago this tactic stopped working due bumping  changes on certain boards, so even if they spam the shit our of your ANN like they are doing now,  it wont make it any more visible than if you did nothing. As a matter of fact, you will get an extra attention, but not the kind you hoped for.

You see, same accounts that are "working" on your ANN will do the same thing on any other thread that hires them, whether its scam or not. They don't have any scruples and will work for just about anyone who pays. And here we take it seriously when someone supports the scam.

This is kind of poetic justice, scammers getting scammed Smiley
5247  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Statistika lokalnog foruma on: December 12, 2020, 09:42:48 AM

5248  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Moneta - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: December 12, 2020, 08:09:43 AM
And, about waiberz, it confuses me a bit, but small digging tell us that it is very likely they're the real account of Moneta dev "team", or at least heavily involved on the project.
It could also be that @waiberz was hired to create/design their announcement thread and then they changed their mind and decided to post it under their own account. Looking at waiberz topics created history, he created few of those in the past.

Then again, if he was just hired by Moneta team, why not distancing himself from them after plagiarism discovery? Instead, he did diametrically opposite thing and decided to oppose valid flag, therefore supporting the scammers.
5249  Other / Meta / Re: How to hide boring topics? on: December 12, 2020, 06:58:22 AM
Boring literally means reluctant topics right? I don't know is there any way to hide particular thread on section but if you find it is not really useful then you can report it and most of the time it will be trashed if it is really not useful for the community.
Boring means not interesting, while "reluctant" is a whole different word with completely different meaning.

But if you want to flag threads manually - wouldn't you have to read them, which kinda defeats the purpose of avoiding boring threads.
I might have missenterperted  OP, but what I think he wants is to ignore some topic which upon checking he established as boring, so it doesn't keep reappearing as people keep replying/bumping. So yeah, you would have to check it first but I don't think that would beat the purpose of "topic ignore" option.

About this bpip thing, I started using your extension few weeks ago but I didn't know about that merits per topic option. I just enabled it, useful stuff!

Boring is such a subjective sense. Tongue what you find boring maybe isn't for another user. So there's no objective way to eradicate boring topics like we can eradicate "spam".
I don't think that dkbit98 asks for someone else to decide what's boring or not, he is asking for an option to do it by himself.

That being said, I don't think I ever came across forum with option like that. Then again, forums I used are mostly old school, bitcointalk style.
5250  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Moneta - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: December 11, 2020, 04:39:32 PM
Like plagiarized whitepaper didn't bring them enough negative attention, Moneta decided to go full retard so today bunch of newbie accounts suddenly appeard on their announcement thread, asking stupid questions and pretending to be interested in this. At first i though that maybe they organized airdrop as few brand new accounts appeared, but when I checked post history of others, there was a history of doing the same thing on other threads, therefore they hired bumping group. Little they know how innefective that tactic is and that will only cause them more issues.

Shill accounts used:
VANDERWEELE
due_cov1d
motolinba
TINDOLl
adam_zampro
rinkl_ptel9909
cryptodemystified
SITTERLY
PARIVEENN
Tonics Brendon
MeetDave_0
RUOFERTT

Now waiting for @Moneta Holdings17  to explain us how all these accounts appearing on the same day is just a coincidence and that those must be legit users having genuine interest in their project.

It's also worth  to mention accounts that decided to oppose the flag: beside Moneta OP, two newbie accounts created in the last few days (BitcoinStar80 and Masternode55 ) and for some reason Full Member waiberz.
5251  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ] Xeniumx copied Origin Protocol whitepaper! on: December 11, 2020, 04:23:01 PM
I would like to know how xneiumx rebuttals about this catch if they are really silent then obviously this is a plagiarism project and should no longer develop in this forum but I am quite happy because it was just launched today immediately caught this is something where for them no longer glancing a project like this. Stay away !!
I really don't see how they can justify this, as its blatant copy/paste of not just few pages, but majority of whitepaper. Few paragraphs or eventually page or two could slip due negligence, incompetence and laziness (but even that is serious offense and doesn't look much better) of the team, but in this case only intention is to fool people that there is some idea and goal behind this project, while there is only greed and nothing else.

We may hear explanation like "we hired external team to make our whitepaper, we were scammed too", "we have similar  idea so we just decided to use their content" or something along those lines, but in this case I think that they will just keep silent and ignore the issue.
5252  Other / Meta / Re: List of Bitcointalk stats on: December 11, 2020, 12:19:32 PM
Hey @1miau!

I don't know whether my thread [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity qualifies to be part of your list, but here it is.

Based on data from Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard, each month I compare local boards via easily understandable charts in regards to post and merit activity. If I remember correctly it was shared few times in German board (and few others) as well so I hope it is useful enough to find it's place on your list.
5253  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Glasanje za najbolji bitcointalk intervju on: December 11, 2020, 11:00:40 AM

5254  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: December 11, 2020, 09:19:22 AM
First I have to apologize for taking me three months to finally write this interview, but better late than never Smiley

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?

First time I heard about Bitcoin was sometimes in the early 2014 (can't remember exactly) while browsing on the Croatian forum. For some reason I ended up in "Investing" subforum and there I saw it, topic named "Bitcoin". People were arguing whether it's legit or some kind of scam, all the usual stuff, but most importantly it got me interested. Unfortunately all I did really in those few months during my first stint was buying some shitcoins as I naively thought that since I can't afford 1 whole BTC, better focus on some which I can own a lot.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?

Even though I heard about it years before, I bought my first BTC pretty late, sometime in the summer of 2017, via Coinbase. It always makes me chuckle when I remember how I was contemplating whether it's too late to invest in bitcoin at that moment since price already increased 3-4x in the last few months. I guess many people have similar thoughts before buying BTC for the first time.

3. How did you get on the forum?

I heard  about it in the previously mentioned Croatian forum. I visited bitcointalk once or twice, but honestly I preferred more intimate atmosphere there, since I was member for many years before that and knew all people well. Two months later I had to take a break from crypto due real live stuff so I didn't check bitcointalk again up until  2017. Upon my return I checked it a bit, but bitcointalk was simply too hectic for my taste at the time, so yet again I couldn't bother to register since before mentioned Croatian forum fulfilled my need. My 3rd visit to bitcointalk in the summer of 2019 (after month or two of lurking and due lowered activity in Croatian forum) resulted into me finally registering and here I am now.

4.1. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?

The way i see it, there are several factors; First you have governments that are making it more complicated than it should be, then you have the fact that an average person is not so interested in being responsible for their own money, he prefers to delegate that to 3rd parties. And in the end, in the current state, question is whether cryptocurrencies are ready for mass adoption. And by adoption I mean using bitcoin primarily for payment, not just as store of value.

4.2. How do you think mass advertising of gambling projects has a positive effect on the development of the forum or harms the community?

Gambling business is probably at the forefront  of crypto adoption, so it's no surprise that we see so many looking for advertisement here. Signature campaigns definitely affect the forum traffic, making it more visible and relevant, but on the other hand that standard requirement that certain amount of posts have to be written in Gambling boards makes them barely readable due amount of mindless spam that you can find there. People are forced to write about sports that they probably never watched in their lives, and it shows.

4.3. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?

If you invest in bitcoin and especially if you are using DCA method I don't think that you have to be an expert as historically this method works and if you are into bitcoin for the long run you will profit. Regarding trading, situation there is way more complex and for that you need years of studying, experience and probably a lot of money lost in the process of learning.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?

AFAIK, merit system was introduced in order to make account farming much harder than it was before. In that aspect, I think it succeeded. Of course it didn't completely removed account farming, I am pretty sure that some are still managing to do that, but then again, no system is infallible and there will always be some abuse, to certain degree.

Regarding signature campaigns, I think that it's great that people from less developed countries can make a living just by being an active part of this community. It is not without the downside though, as it is responsible for significant portion of spam on the forum. There are more and more campaigns showing up that are paying good and looking for active members, so there is more demand than supply of quality posters and that consequently lowers the bar so even a Hero/Legendary shitposter has a decent chance to get into one. To sum it up, in the end pro's outweigh the con's and I don't think that forum would magically be a better place if signature campaigns are suddenly abolished.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?

There are many useful topics and even after more than a year on the forum I still stumble upon great older topics created years ago, but if I have to narrow it down to few that I find most useful, those would be:

You can find the names here, but shout out to all those active in scambusting & spambusting, those that are creating very useful bitcointalk related tools & guides and last but not the least, members of my local board.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

1. More transparent ban / unban system
2. Trust Feedback visible across all boards
3. Mobile version. I personally don't need it but it would make forum more attractive to new/younger people as fresh blood is always needed.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?

I did in the past but not anymore. I realized that trading is just not for me and same thing goes for investing in altcoins. I hodl what I have and that's about it.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?

As many other noobs, I lost a lot while investing in various altcoins but the one that hurt the most was when I lost almost everything I had due phishing. I still feel stupid every time I remember that, but I learned few things from that loss and maybe some other noob reading this won't repeat my mistakes.

So, few days before Christmas 2017 (iirc it was 23.12) I was waiting for some BTC so I opened blockchain wallet. It was quite a shock to say the least when I saw that instead of 0.1 BTC my balance was 0. Completely confused I am sending the message to friend, asking can he check my address, but of course only thing he could do is confirm that my BTC is indeed gone. Upon checking the address where my BTC went I saw quiet a lot of BTC, and new one kept coming, making me believe it was a work of an experienced scammer.

Mistake I did? Earlier that day for some stupid reason I typed "blockchain.info" into Google instead having it bookmarked, leading me to a phishing page. After few sleepless nights during which I seriously considered to get rid off crypto I had left ( beside BTC I had a little bit of ETH ) and simply forget about all this. But then I said to myself "fuck it, shit happens, move on" and I did. Next day I ordered hardware wallet and here I am still.

That experience is the main reason why I am active in scambusting as I felt how it is to loose basically everything due my own negligence and stupidity.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

Not much really. Even though there are some legit projects and ideas, whole market is overrun with so many DeFi scams and shitcoins that at the moment I don't wanna have anything to do with it. Things will get better eventually, but until then I will keep my distance and if I want to gamble with  my BTC, I'll rather do it at the casino.

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?

Precaution, but in the real life my closer circle of friends and family know that I am into crypto. I don't bother them with it or trying to talk them into investing, but if someone asks me something crypto related I won't pretend I know nothing in fear of $5 wrench attack. Then again, Croatia is generally safe country with low crime rate so maybe I would be more cautious if I lived somewhere else.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?

I don't read as many books as I used to years ago, but recently I started reading "Internet Of Money" by Andreas Antonopoulos, which is my first Crypto related book.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?

Since I stopped following altcoin market few years ago when I got rid off them, I can only recommend bitcoin.

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?

I have no idea, and honestly I don't care. I do hope for some bigger correction so I can accumulate more. I did worry a lot in past, thinking about the price and constantly checking blockfolio, but eventually I realized that it doesn't make any sense as I am into this for a long run. To paraphrase the title of a Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, I learned to stop worrying and love the Bitcoin Smiley

Thank you @zasada@ for a chance to hear forum members POV on various topics, some of the interviews were pleasure to read.

Cheers!

Xeniumx copied basically whole whitepaper from Origin Protocol, project that was launched in 2019. On the left side you can see their c/p while one the right you can see original. There is more evidence, but this will do to make a point.

Bumping and a request to @Rikafip
Can you please look through the activity statistics of local board for the month of November 2020 and share standing of our local thread as you did for the month of October. Our local community will be so much grateful to you.
I made November local board overview few days ago, including the Bangladesh topic. In the link below you will find several charts that you can use and share as you please.

Good initiative, but I have few suggestions that will make this list a bit more organized, therefore easier to use:
  • Sort the reports chronologically because in the current state I see no logical order
  • Add the date of thread creation
  • Mark the current status (whether fake wallet/app has been removed from the PlayStore or not)
