541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Bullion (CBX) | Est. 2013 | PoSP (in development) | PoV (Genesis) on: September 17, 2015, 05:56:27 PM
Hi everyone! I have been away with family for a couple of days on holiday but back and refreshed now!

Couple small updates:
- The new Vault is getting a couple small tweaks and will be ready for public release shortly
- PoSP development discussions continue and we are making progress in this area (we will share more details as possible)
- Android mobile Vault is coming along and should be ready for release soon (iOS will be next)
- As BTCat mentioned - CBX promo video is about complete

Community assistance needed:
- We are still getting spammed over on our forum and could use some assistance with maintenance should anyone be interested in helping out as a moderator
- We would like to boost traffic to the CBX forum and build our community there. I think a giveaway would be beneficial in this effort. If anyone wants to assist with this, please let me know.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Quick status update before the weekend:

raizor should have the interim client ready for us soon - again this will feature in-Vault IRC, translation sets and the naming of the 1/100th denomination as..... BULLS

We have been in contact with a handful of devs and are making progress with finding the right one to carry out PoSP implementation.

Good stuff up ahead guys, enjoy your weekend!

Raizor has provided the new Vault and we are undergoing internal testing now.

Also, seems that Cryptsy has implemented a clever new money making idea which allows coins to advertise better.

https://www.cryptsy.com/coinsponsors

I have made a small donation to get CBX in the top 4 so we appear as a sponsor. This operates based on 4 coins showing as sponsors based according to which one has donated the most BTC for this service.

Quote
Cryptsy's Coin Sponsor program gives the ability for a coin to be spotlighted on Cryptsy. To determine which coins are spotlighted at any given time a bidding process is used. Each coin is given a bitcoin address. Users can send bitcoin to a coins address to move it up the list. The top 4 coins on the bidding list are spotlighted as long as they remain in the top 4.

The balance of the spotlighted coins depreciates. Every 5 minutes 0.00034722 BTC is deducted from the address’s balance. If a coin drops out of the spolight position the deductions stop. For this reason the balance of an address on the blockchain can not be used to determine a coins position on the vote list. The current balance of a coins address will be displayed on the bid list.

546  Economy / Services / 10 BTC Job- Talented dev needed for implementation of new proof-of-stake algo on: September 08, 2015, 12:37:17 PM
Hello to the community,
For those unaware, CBX is an alt coin that was created in June of 2013. It employs a hybrid algorithm (PoW and PoS) at the present. We have created a unique proof-of-stake concept that we wish to have implemented to replace the current hybrid algorithm. A rough draft of the white paper is already created. We are looking for a talented coder to take on this job of implementation of our vision. Pay is 10 BTC for the work and would be held in escrow. The developer would also have an option to stay on with the project going forward for which they would be incentivized with CBX. Please PM should you have interest with your experience and qualifications or I can be reached directly via email at elambert@cryptobullion.io.

Thank you in advance.

547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Bullion (CBX) | Est. 2013 | PoSP (in development) | PoV (Genesis) on: September 08, 2015, 10:11:34 AM
Dear CBX community,
It is with great sadness that I must report that due to personal circumstances, raizor will be leaving the CBX project and will no longer be able to help us to complete the PoSP work. Raizor has done a phenomenal job for CBX and we have been very fortunate to have him along for the ride. Please keep in mind raizor is and always has been a volunteer and has contributed his blood, sweat and tears to the CBX project so his departure comes with a heavy heart for him as well. We of course wish raizor the best in his personal circumstances and his future endeavors and we will always value his tremendous contributions. Raizor will still be delivering the interim CBX client with IRC and the translation sets shortly, as well as returning the 5 BTC down payment from the PoSP project.

This all being said, we are now all presented with an opportunity in this project to bring in some new development talent. We still have about 10 BTC in the foundation fund for development and the PoSP white paper draft. Should any members of the community have interest in or know of some with interest in getting involved in the project at the development level, please communicate with us.

Those who have been involved with CBX during its 2 years of existence will know that this setback is by no means the end of the road! The development of CBX continues, with the same goals we previously announced, true to the long term philosophy we always had; however this setback will, naturally, cause delays in the development of these projects - therefore a new timeline schedule will be made public, as soon as we have found a suitable replacement for raizor.

For the time being CBX continues to function flawlessly, as it always has. This setback may cause some turbulence in the exchange markets, but please rest assured that the CBX team is committed to bring back its value to a meaningful place among cryptocurrencies...

The core development team feels very strongly that we owe it to the community to bring this information to light in real time as it develops.

Sincerely,
Chris 'elambert'

I just updated my client, and re-downloaded the blockchain using the bootstrap. I have ~40% the coins I used to have. Checking the transactions, I see all the transactions that should be there - adding up to 100% the amount of coins I should have - but on the overview tab I see my balance listed as ~40%.

Also, it shows 0 coins staking and 0 coins unconfirmed. Any ideas what happened or what's going on?

Have you allowed the blockchain to sync?

Looks like someone has spammed the CBX Forum. Don't click on any links on there guys!

Edit: Some topics are asking for login details as they are restricted, be careful!

Cleaned up the junk and banned some ip's. Thank you for the heads-up!

Voted for 'Bulls' and I feel strongly that this is the best name. It is a shortened version of Bullion and it associates with a Bull market. Its a fun name, yet professional and powerful.

100 Bulls = 1 Bullion

why not make it "officially" centi-CBX   and use "Bulls" or whatever like a nickname for it.

like "dime"

This is certainly a valid option but we want new users and merchants to easily make the association when they are using their Vault. I am a big fan of simplicity and clearly defining things to avoid confusion or misunderstanding.
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Bullion (CBX) | Est. 2013 | PoSP (in development) | PoV (Genesis) on: September 02, 2015, 12:56:30 PM
Excellent discussion here! Thank you all for the feedback and participation. Everyone's input is valued and heard.

The Vault currently has 3 different classifications:
  • CBX
  • mCBX - milli-CryptoBullions (1/1,000 CBX)
  • μCBX - micro-CryptoBullions (1/1,000,000 CBX)

No designation is present at the moment for 1/100 CBX. Based on current nomenclature, perhaps centi-CryptoBullions (cCBX) is the best option here. The only issue is that this name does not exactly roll off the tongue...

This discussion and implementation idea has come up to assist with a push for mass adoption. We have a peer 2 peer faucet project in the works which will involve giving away a fraction of CBX to new users (targeting university students). We feel that this target demographic is critical to appeal to and expose to CBX - these are the adopters that can make crypto truly mainstream.

My thought on this is that giving someone 0.1 CBX to get them interested enough to research CryptoBullion would not resonate as well as giving someone, for example 10 'Bulls' (equivalent to 0.1 CBX).

Also, keep in mind the current price point of CBX is not the target goal. We are looking to grow the value exponentially from this point. An easy name for exchanging fractional CryptoBullion will be beneficial in the future for transactions so this move serves dual purposes.

One plus with Centibullion is that it still uses the same CB letters as CrytpoBullion (as in the logo).

@elambert

Erika will not make it here, thank goodness. It looks like Hispanola took it's toll on her and provided she doesn't re-form in the Gulf......

I am a small-time 'hobby' CBX miner and although it may not be the best way to acquire shares, it keeps me interested and out of trouble. Will we get ample heads-up when the change is made to PoSP so I don't waste the time or energy to continue the mining operation?

Thank You

    Cool

Hi CapnBDL. Yes, we will give a couple of weeks of warning prior to the switch from the current hybrid (PoW/PoS) system to the new PoSP implementation. In the meantime, mine away  Smiley

Morning CBXers, just invested in a little more CBX, should get around 10 a month (minimum) staking 24/7 which is comparable to my mining effort now Cheesy

Hi FiniteRed, good news, congrats!

Update:
We are in the early development stages of a CBX P2P Faucet project that will promote CBX exposure to a much broader audience that even Bitcoin is not reaching at the present. The brainstorming stages of this project have identified a couple of prerequisites that I would like to announce now:

1. CBX will be adding a mobile wallet. We are in the resource allocation stage for this now and weighing the options of building this in-house as opposed to outsourcing. Community feedback, experience and opinions on this are welcomed - I know CBX will not be breaking new ground here so interested in learning from any previous experiences (good and bad) that have occurred.

2. The need for a new unit designation to offset the natural negative association people have with fractions. The P2P Faucet project will increase CBX exposure via a mobile wallet download distribution strategy. The mobile vault downloaded by new adopters/users will come with a small starting balance of 10 Baby Bullion (equivalent of 0.1 CBX). We have decided to add nomenclature to the soon to be released Vault that will identify 0.01 CBX as 1 Baby Bullion (or BB for short). 1 CBX will be equivalent to 100 Baby Bullions.

Thats it for now, hope all have a great weekend. Preparing for Erika here in Florida.

Looking forward to it being fully implemented
Great concept.  Let's see if it sticks

It certainly will stick  Grin

On another note, we are organizing a giveaway to assist with exposure of the new forum. Suggestions on how best to accomplish this are welcome.

A: The notion of proof of work is fundamentally flawed (natural drift towards centralised mining, high barrier of entry for anyone wanting to participate)

B: The move to PosP will result in an increase in CBX blockchain security of many orders of magnitude of what it is currently

C: In this climate / market place you either innovate and pull ahead or stagnate and get left behind

D: The fundamentals of CBX are not changing, the inflation rate will stay the same but more to a far superior method of securing the network

All in all CBX is living up to its true potential by implementing PosP, the more people who stake it (encouraged by minimal associated costs) the stronger and more resilient the CBX network will become. One of the main reasons CBX has held its value lately is due to the approaching singularity that is PosP Smiley

Beautifully said Finite Red, thank you.

CBX made it to the #1 spot on Bter!

https://bter.com/voting

Congratulations to everyone that made it happen, well done guys.

Yes, thank you everyone; we have done it!  We will now contact Bter with this established fact in mind and ask them to fulfill their part of the deal, which is to include CBX in their trading platform...

In the meantime, please let's not stop the voting; because unfortunately someone is very methodically downvoting us, and I anticipate that this phenomenon will get worse over time until we finally trade in China.

Excellent work all! This appeared to be such an insurmountable task at the outset... and then with the obstacle of having to start again from zero due to the rebranding... Let this be a testament to the strength and commitment of the CryptoBullion family! As VonSpass said, lets keep the pedal to the metal and keep the upvoting pressure on!

Pools have been updated on website and reddit.

If other pools need added, please let me know.

Thanks!

Things like merged mining reduces the wastefulness of it, To prevent centralization things like ziftr's proof of knowledge could be forced so a person has to run a full node. Especially since POS coins require the miner to sign with their own key its even easier to force it than with POW only coins.
I'm mainly busy with my pool, betarigs and on occasion a number of other coins i help out with. Its nice to see CGB still doing well after all this time.

Ahmed

Glad to see your still around Ahmed and again, very much appreciate your support and feedback. You and your input are always welcome here Smiley
