561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Launch 02MAR14 | IPO Available on: March 02, 2014, 03:43:26 PM
this sucks when i invested as IPO  it said this would be a scrypt coin :s  im using a lot of 6950's with 450khs+ but they only do 150 khs on n scrypt  this is not fair =(

And everybody else's hashrates are lower as well.  What's the problem?
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Leadcoin [LDC] New Website, new faucet, foundation members needed! on: March 02, 2014, 02:02:38 PM
+1 to the guy above me.

Curious if anyone is still working on this coin.  I am holding an offensively large amount of this stuff so it would be just swell if it defies the odds and is able to launch a moon landing.
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptogenic Bullion | The Gold Standard Virtual Precious Metal | CGB on: March 02, 2014, 11:31:15 AM
Interesting coin. When approx it is going to be PoS only by the way?

CGB will remain a PoW/PoS hybrid. The PoW subsidy will halve until the baseline of .01 CGB per block is reached where it will remain. This will keep holders earning interest while at the same time further securing the block chain via PoW mining and PoS stake mining. An attack on a PoW/PoS hybrid would have to consist of not only control of greater than 50% of hashing power (as with most other coins) but also would require ownership of greater than 50% of the staked coins. The PoS addition essentially means that any potential attacker would have to be a majority owner of CGB as well as the majority miner and thereby the attack would predominantly be against themselves.

I feel that the PoS needs to be higher. The supposed mirroring of monetary inflation is irrelevant at this stage.

10% pa, with 7 days qualification cycle would give sufficient incentive. Any opinions ?

I am pretty sure you will hear a resounding NO from all members of the community.

A temporary price boost from new comers who want to stake the coin is not worth, like i said before, runaway inflation and destroying the marketing hook it has had from the beginning.  All it does is give a temporary price boost, long term it sends it to zero.

What do you think the price of PHS, HBN, TEK, BCX will be by next year?  Do you think 10%+ inflation is good for something which aims to be a currency?

If the goal here is just to temporarily pump up the price so that we can dump off our stakes and watch the coin supply skyrocket and the price plummet, hey no problem.  Just clue me in that this is the plan and I'll dump as soon as we break 0.001 again.  But I thought at this point CGB had established itself as more than just a pump and dump scam.

I don't even understand why the PoS reward is being brought up.  The price isn't where it is today because the PoS reward is too low.  The price is where it is today because of the developments of the last couple days, large holders dumping, and disinterest from the latest wave of newbies who hit the scene in nov/dec because they were too late to mine any significant amount (but they seem to love QRK, doesn't make sense to me).

Boy are you guys getting it wrong or what!!!! Economy is not this coin's forte. This .01 baseline will eliminate all incentive to mine the coin.  Very High Brow and High Roller as we sink further down closer to zero; .01 baseline has to be raised or this coin will disappear, period.

What does it matter?  The PoW network could drop to zero but PoS will keep the blockchain chugging along.

Because, with all the risk associated with CGB anybody in their right mind would not get near it at such low PoS level, 1.5%. I would probably become interested with a much higher PoS level, given risk involved, otherwise I will not be mining this coin, neither PoS nor PoW, for its disrespect to any potential investors.

So you think increasing the block reward for PoW, offering higher PoS rewards, and causing runaway inflation would be a good thing for CGB?  Completely destroying the whole rarity thing that CGB has used from the start to market itself would be a good direction for the coin?

I am disappointed by the recent developments, but I hold around 8k CGB purchased around 0.001, and if you think I am gonna dump at these prices you are mad.  I guarantee there are many other investors who feel the same as I do.

So don't worry about the CGB network, I will continue to stake my coins and watch the price go to the moon or to zero.

This is a massively pointless utter pile of shit, but it is profitable to mine these types of coins EVERYTIME.  Who keeps buying these?  Do gamblers with way too much BTC to burn just see these coins for a couple satoshis and figure "it's cheap, what have I got to lose?".  I don't get it.

Whatever, as long as they keep buying I'll keep mining.  I'll be there at launch, probably with an extra 50mhps rented out.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CycleCoin (CCC) | A new internet currency | Come on on: March 02, 2014, 08:22:41 AM
No pools, no source code, ninja launch, dev doesn't know what nodes are, website full of broken engrish, any more points against this coin I should add?

That being said, I have one rig designated for solo-mining sketchy low difficulty coins and the difficulty on this thing is stupid low, so I'm mining for a few hours at least.

These are the peers I'm connected to that are currently showing blocks >500:

184.82.131.93
107.170.26.155
203.20.114.252
37.187.138.76

Try deleting peers.dat again, and adding those to your config. You are restarting the client each time, right?

your nodes did the trick! thanks mate! ;-)
coins4everyone.com is back on the right track.

You're welcome. Smiley

I just deleted my blockchain and peers.dat (to simulate a virgin install) and even though the sync paused briefly at block 500 I'm happy to say it picked up again about 20 seconds later... so hopefully others will not have to go through the same thing. At least 500 blocks is super quick to download.

I did all this and I am still stuck.

I can't withdrawal on hashstrike because everytime I try to enter in my withdrawal address I get this error message

571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast, reliable, secure no-premine coin LAUNCHED! on: February 27, 2014, 11:20:57 PM
Is the pool sending out tokens or what?  Can't even enter in my address to get a payout.  To whomever is running the pool, please, please do not steal my execoins.  My daughter has leukemia, and I have so much faith in the execoin team I know those coins will be able to pay for her treatment.  If you run off with my coins, it is like murdering a little girl.  Do you want little Jill's blood on your hands?  I didn't think so.

setting up conf files is too much to ask for this coin, so i shall pool mine this til diff breaks .1 then i'm moving on.

So much CGB dumped lately, odd to be dumping at all time low prices though.  I suppose just because you hold a lot of coins doesn't necessarily make you a wise or savvy investor.  No matter, working on freeing up some BTC to try to scoop up another 2k to get me into the 10k club!

Marketing isn't my forte, but perhaps with hordes of newbies stroking it over MINT and BC, we may be able to appeal to that crowd?  Look, over here guys, a well established PoS coin that you can have confidence won't be pumped, dumped, and abandoned by the dev a week after it hits an exchange.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | Launched | scrypt | PoS | No premine on: February 27, 2014, 04:44:49 AM
Good lord this generation of miners saddens me.  Whatever, I'm still getting in on the pump and dump.  Blackcoin to moon....woo...woo...yippie
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | Launched | scrypt | PoS | No premine on: February 27, 2014, 02:07:58 AM
Hey guys, ya know there is this coin called BLADE, just as good as this coin but everyone got to have a month to mine it and at reasonable difficulty so you can actually get a decent amount.  It is gonna be PoS only as well.

Oh and there is this coin called CGB that gave everyone 6 months to mine it, it is nearly PoS only at this point, and at record low prices.  It has an active community and developers.

And their is this thing called PPC, as ASICs get faster and faster, that coin will be moving further and further toward essentially being PoS only.  It was developed by Sunny King, he is kinda a big deal.

My question is, why is everyone going apeshit over MINT and BC, or whatever the latest flavor of the week is when you have established PoS coins to invest in, or BLADE which is just as good as this coin and fairer, but I guess it is shit because it's theme is one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time?

I am so done with these new exchanges, I never thought I'd want cryptsy back.  2FA login code not showing up to email, reset password email not showing up, basically I can't do a damn thing because no emails from cryptoaltex are showing up.  So yeah, my experience so far has not been favorable.

Dont worry, you are not losing anything.

GREAT.. just after i put in $40 of BTC rofl.

I just got it to work and deposited some BTC and BC to do some trading with, if this is another freaking hack i'm gonna fucking scream.

i'd be willing to buy a few tens of thousands of blackcoin via either DOGE or BTC for anyone willing to sell before i can get to mining.

Just buy it off the exchange, it's still cheap

which one?.. i tried allcoin, but it won't let me log in/tells me account does not exist.

... just logged into allcoin, they're not getting my BTC or any coin, it's full of spelling errors. pass.

https://cryptoaltex.com/

This is a good exchange so far. I've successfully purchased and withdrew 78,000 coins so far. Though one of my BTC transactions going in got hung up for a while (not the exchange fault but sometimes very slow BTC transaction system) and I missed some 1300 buy opportunities. But at least only 10,000 coins were sold when it dipped to that price so I didn't miss much.

For me I am matching 1 coin mined = 1 coin bought. But I'm buying some in advance now as my buy is outnumbering my mined. Wink

Kinda surprised that with the current trend of PoS only coins being so popular, we haven't seen a surge in prices, looks to be total opposite.  Picked up 2k at .0009 last night but am shocked it dropped lower, we have got to be near all time low prices right now correct?
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: February 22, 2014, 01:18:06 AM
I know you mean well and recovering the XCP would be good for the community at large.

There is no reason to think that these users knew that there was something malicious going on when they took their gains.

Allow the users to make the choice themselves without being coerced.

I don't think any user knew that there was something malicious going on when they took their gains (I myself bought some xcp @ 0.002)
but now we do know exactly what happened.

If i understand what you are saying than why don't allow all of poloniex users to make the choice for themselves and don't rollback?

the answer is simple in my opinion - if we can get everything back to where it was before the 35,000 xcp sell that will be the best thing for all users. For clarification i don't think any treats should be used i just think it will be helpful if we knew who we need to speak to in order to get this situation behind us asap.

I totally agree. I just don't want people getitng the wrong ideas  Smiley

Yes why dont roll back the database to before the dump so the 6100 outstanding XCP are back to where they legitimately belong? (given busoni restores the BTC balances of those that withdrew their 6100 XCP after the dump because they would be out of BTC and XCP)

Which database are you talking about--Poloniex's or Counterparty's?

Im talking about the Counterparty Database. I guess the first attempt to roll back was well intended but was just a bit off by a few minutes with rolling back up until after the dump because the situation was not clear and a community consensus missing (still is). So by rolling back up until before the dump all the outstanding XCP will be back in their original holders pockets at Poloniex (sorry guys but the cheap XCP you withdrew are not meant to be yours) and if you busoni, refill the BTC balances of the users that withdrew their cheap XCP, everybody will be made whole again, as far as we can have an effect on it. Only the hacker's BTC would be outstanding in that case which he already pledged to return.

Funds Lost
Deposits lost on Poloniex
6100 XCP
80 BTC
********************
Donations till now:
41 XCP
0.0002172 BTC
There will be a few users who voluntarily return the XCP, however I doubt it will be much.
Even though we remain hopeful, the chances of the BTC being return decrease day by day.
********************
So, the options right now are:

A) Poloniex: distributes the loss of 6100 XCP + 80 BTC among all holders (XCP sellers and buyers on the exchange).
I assume this will be around a 25% tax/loss.
B) Counterparty Devs rollback, the transactions(withdrawals) that were made at the 0.002 price (taking advantage of the hack)
and we deal with the 80 BTC, using a combination of donations and tax on the remaining accounts.
I assume this will be around a 12% loss.

Either one of those choices won't be pleasant, but busconi and the devs would need to take some form of action.

I'm going to donate but someone needs to tell me if it is safe to use database version .7 or are we using .8 now?
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: February 22, 2014, 12:14:41 AM
So are we good to use version .7 of the database or should we be waiting for .8 to come out?  Wanna make a donation to Busconi but wanna be sure it is safe to do so.
