Okay so who made a ton of money buying dirt cheap REP? I was about five minutes late to grab any. Woke up and tried to transfer some BTC, transaction confirmed about two minutes after the price went back up...

Of course. Unless everything is fully encrypted end-to-end, your ISP or someone in the government can look at the data and tell exactly what you are doing. All they need to do is look at the ports and protocols you are using.

Any time the price drops $20 to $50 right now is a good time to buy. You can make some profits if you have enough to invest. I'm sure some whales are making millions every week while little fish like me are just happy to make a few dollars.

Im all in at the 200k dip. Hopefully a year or two from now I can quote this post when I buy my new Bugatti.

The far more likely scenario is that someone gets some kind of malware or keylogger on their system, and an attacker is able to get the private key that way. Even the NSA or some other state sponsored agency would have trouble cracking a bitcoin wallet at this point. They would put that computing power to something much more profitable than trying to steal someones BTC.

Yes Bitcoin will hit 10,000 and I will be a millionaire. Probably the day after I get in a car crash and die because Jesus hates me for touching myself when I was young.

I transferred some BTC, and the transaction confirmed minutes after the price of REP went back up. Wish I woke up five minutes earlier so I could grab some cheap Augur....

I dont understand your logic.
Someone who own a coins did not secured them enough and lose them. What this has to do with cryptocoin reputation? This only give reputation to this person who lost coins and you would rather avoid him to store your coins.
When I posted this, no one even knew any details of the hack. People were trying to figure out if it was one person, multiple people, or the Augur developers/ foundation.

If you've got the balls, someone could make a lot of money going all in on REP now. If it goes back up even 10% you've made a huge profit in a short time.
|
|
|
Ok so the real question here is, do we buy into REP, ETH, FCT, XMR and the other coins that are getting dumped? Which will bounce back and which will take a permanent loss due to their reputation being permanently damaged?

What a bloodbath. What is going on with the price of alts and why isn't Bitcoin going up as people get out of alts. I can't decide if I should just hold onto my BTC or put it all in Factom now that I can get 20% more for the same price...

Where were you on the day the markets crashed Tuesday December 6th 2016. RIP Altcoins?
|
|
|
Holy shit. Total fucking bloodbath. What is going on in the altcoin market right now? Literally every top coin down 10-30%

Hype is dying-down so price is coming down as well. ETH still has good long-term potential but is a little stale right now, because everyone just wants to invest in the flavor of the month.

Nothing HAS to go up over time. The price is set by the market. Supply and DEMAND. If suddenly everyone decided they don't like Bitcoin anymore, the value could go to zero. Zero demand = zero price.

"People are saying that the upstream provider(ICAP) of XE made a mistake..."
other sources are saying that the price is correct.... Will have to wait and see but I would think a data error is more likely since many sites are showing a stable price. (Unless we have some serious media coverup going on.)

150k seems a little low, but anything is possible, I guess. Factom seems like a great long-term investment, so I'm not really concerned what the price is now, but in a year or two. Anyone who has worked with developing software knows real companies aren't making a ton of announcements when they are still in Beta stages.

Say what you want about Jack Ma, but the guy is really smart. He realized that there was a huge untapped emerging market in Asia, and did a lot of work to help new customers- many who live in poor, developing areas, get access to internet and the ability to buy things online. Obviously he did a lot of this for personal profit, but it also helps these areas get access to goods and services they didn't have even ten years ago.
