581  Bitcoin / Mining support / splitting block erupters into groups on: November 04, 2013, 04:05:45 AM
Might be a dumb question but here goes. Grin

I have about 100 erupters, want only 50 to show in a window.  All are connected to the same computer (Win 7 x64).  Using cgminer 3.6.6.

Reason for this is I use these to mine smaller SHA256 alts.  This way I can mine two coins at once.  Banks of many erupters seem to keep up with fast

coins quite well, if set up correctly.  Thought it could be done by specifying com port range in config  but winusb driver does not seem to assign com

ports to erupters.

Canary, could you send different colors? Last order was 30 black and 20 red.  If you have them. Grin
583  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9 TH] Bitparking Pool, DGM 0%,vardiff,stratum,Merge Mining on: November 03, 2013, 04:40:34 PM
The strange hashrate difference is happening again.  Been monitoring it for about an hour.  I have low rejects and HW errors but pool is reporting hashrate to be about 15%-20% lower than actual.  I first saw this happening about a week ago.  Will this loss of hashrate affect round payout?

Could the pool operators perhaps shine some light on this? Huh

So does anyone have instructions on how to wire an ATX connector to the above PSU in pics?

I have not seen the PSU but I suspect you could just connect all of the red wires to V+, all of the black wires to V-.  The rest of the wires could be removed from the 24 pin connector or ignored.  I think they all float on the hub side except for the green wire that turns on the ATX power supply.
This wire is even mute with a dedicated 5V PSU.  I think I would rather wire in a switch on the 5V PSU.

Just updated prices on blades.

Also, there are no more USBs available from the manufacturer.  Whatever remains on hand at resellers is it folks.  Once they're gone, they won't be restocked or made again.

I still have plenty on hand with good color selection and offcourse 50 units include the 49 port USB hub.

Are the blades still in production? Or are they stopping production on all BE100 based miners.  Maybe gearing up for V2? Wink

if they made a new stick they need  a different chip.    even 1gh-1.5gh stick with power at 2.5 to 3 watts would work.

V2 = smaller process node, same design.  Maybe then, higher clocks and/or x2 chips per stick would achieve 1-1.5Gh.

philipma1957 has found this PSU:

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/58-12860
use code   afc909     get a 15% discount  to under  14 bucks plus shipping!

It should be tested Wed/Thur to know for sure, but from the specs, it looks to be a great PSU to power one of these hubs (for the $).

  these are a fail

I blew up a pair of them at about 30 sticks
what blew? the PSU, the wire or the plug? Its says its to have 36amps on the 5v side so should have powered more than 30?

Most likely the output diode on the 5V rail.  Could of been the switching mosfet(s).  I have seen some PSU's come in my shop that claim very large outputs but I open them only to find parts capable of maybe half. Tongue  Under normal  conditions where max load it demanded maybe .5% of the time this is OK.  Put a constant 80-90% load on it... poof!

Looks like a 4 pin phoenix connector.  Not absolutely sure.  Can check one of my blades later. I'll post a link when I'm sure.

I hope these hubs have an internal DC-DC converter and don't use the 5V rail exclusively.  This is unlikely due to cost constraints.

I'm getting good speed estimates today.  I haven't left the pool however.  Within 1% of my locally reported hashrate with increasing estimated round payout.  Wish this round would end though. Tongue
593  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9 TH] Bitparking Pool, DGM 0%,vardiff,stratum,Merge Mining on: October 26, 2013, 10:27:10 PM
Something strange has happened to me, mining with this pool. Huh

Have ~105gh, been mining for about 4 days.  Pool reports ~102gh, all is normal.

Leave pool to mine alt for about 10-15 min, reported rate drops to about 70gh.  This is normal to.

Come back to pool with full 105gh, mine for about 45 min.  VERY low rejects (.22%), pool reports 87gh.  This is after mining for 45 minutes.

Question is, where did 18gh go?  45 minutes should be enough time for full hashrate to be reported.  Reported rate is NOT going up. Is this a bug?

This has happened on more than one occasion.  Seems strange.

BTW Love this pool.  Wish more people would mine here!

Edit: 1 hour of mining, it just corrected! 102Gh reported.

Great job getting this stuff here fast BTW.

598  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 06, 2013, 04:50:18 PM
Why do the new blades have 16 spots for surface mount electrolytics that are unpopulated?  Could they run faster or have better stability with them (cleaner power)?

Was this a design decision made for cost reduction?  If you added these could you overclock to old blade speeds (12Gh+)?

Just curious really. Undecided
