581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: March 08, 2017, 12:06:21 PM
Can an admin help me get some free money, id 979, I want to pay grave robbers to dig up dead past players, I want to make Frankenstein's monster. I need services of a Doctor too. Can NPC do this maybe?

How much ?

Enough for 4 grave robbers for manual labour, and 1-2 Doctors/Scientists,  and maybe a small building for a secret lab. Do you think 15M would cover that?

Edit: can I get a promotion to Dr myself?

Done. Promotion is done via the wisdom "top of the world" rankings table. Consume CAN, CIG, etc.

TELL ME WHAT TRUTH I NEED TO DENY, I WILL DO WHATEVER. ANYTHING. THE UNIVERSE IS NOT FUNCTIONING AROUND ME ANY MORE AND I CANNOT TAKE IT. SORRY FOR CAPS THIS FUCKING HURTS.

Why do you think denying a truth to be the key ?
If you trust them, I'd see a doctor. Often the simplest explanation is the right one, and it may be that the continuous use of substances is starting to take its toll, or even simply one of the garden variety aura migraines. Only after those simple reasons are eliminated can one start looking for less simple ones. And always keep pareidolia in mind.

Wow!! Karma is fast tonight! Thank you, #MoneroMooo!

Haha, thank you very much. A bottle of LAG is coming your way too.

A bottle of fine liquor is gifted to all the top of the world top 10 as of a few minutes ago.
It's good for health, happiness *and* wisdom. What's not to like.

To those keeping the game alive,
With the Margrave's compliments.

I understand you're not used to command line, but this is just text to read.
The error message tells you what to do. While some error messages can be cryptic, this one plainly tells you "Override with --confirm-external-bind".
In command line terms, it means adding "--confirm-external-bind" to whatever command line you're using at the moment. Don't forget a space before adding, so it reads, eg: monerod --confirm-external-bind rather than monerod--confirm-external-bind.
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: March 03, 2017, 11:17:59 AM
I'm having issues with 0.10.2.1 that I never got with 0.10.1.0. Firstly, though it runs and syncs as expected, why am I getting a "FATAL" warning of some sort each time I start this latest version of the daemon (2nd line)?

There's no error here. Just because the string "FATAL" is somewhere doesn't mean something broke. It depends on the context the word is used in.

Secondly, it doesn't like it when I introduce the arg, "--rpc-bind-ip 0.0.0.0 --restricted-rpc" and craps out as soon as it starts to initialize the p2p server. Right about here:

That does not include the error, but it's likely the bit you omitted also tells you to use either --disable-rpc-login or other arguments. Try doing one of those (--disable-rpc-login will behave as previous monero versions).
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: March 01, 2017, 07:04:26 PM
Its alright. I purposely didn't post my real Monero address just so it won't be publicly known. I don't want it tracked. I thought it same length though. but your explanation is good.
I think I can go on now  and buy XMR this time on kraken. Thanks for verifying.

Good thing to do, but I'll mention that if it's known, payments to or from it still can't be tracked from the blockchain itself. Not sure if you know or not, but it's a good time to point it out for our readers Smiley

Announcing the entrance of a hitherto unsung self-proclaimed anti-hero of Crypto Kingdom: Sojourner.

Indeed, a fool's move to post first before setting even a first exploratory foot into the Kingdom, yet Sojourner made his name by consistently making - and surviving - an amazing variety of fool's moves.

Sojourner expresses surprise, having thought by the thread title that he was entering 1991, when he was 11, but feels more at home in a 16th century setting so is somewhat pleased with making this entrance.

Off to the tutorial.

Welcome Smiley

The 1991 mention is a reference to the intended feel of the game to be similar to games from that era, most notably Ultima, IIRC. Turns out it didn't really, but as they say, the best plans don't survive contact with the enemy Smiley

The change in memory usage (Linux 64-bit) from Monero release 10.1 to 10.2 is just impressive (had some downtime in between the update):

Wow. That is really impressive. I havent checked how much ram gets eaten on windoze but I can bet its not less than 3gb. Theres still an uncertainty with enormous ram consumption and cpu load during sync, and this is why I never fully synced the daemon. The frustration of waiting problem.

This is a good explanation of some of the work that went into this:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3707/wolfram-warptangent-point-release-10-2-1-performance-improvements

Note that if your daemon if using too much RAM during sync, you can use: --block-sync-size 100 (the default is 200, you can use higher or lower values). This is the amount of blocks downloaded/added at once.

the 0.10.2.1 point release fixes two sets of RPC issues that affected the 0.10.2 point release

This is for both CLI and GUI, right?

CLI only. There will be a GUI release in the near future too.

Ever seen an error like this when running monerod?

Code:
ERROR   {2} {p1} 2017-02-23 10:29:33.958635 [abstract_tcp_server2.inl+515 ::do_send_chunk] send que size is more than ABSTRACT_SERVER_SEND_QUE_MAX_COUNT(1000), shutting down connection

Could you paste the outputs of the "diff" and "status" command? Also, is it still fetching new blocks?

That can be ignored, that peer will just be dropped, and replaced if it's an out peer.

"The square is bustling today", the Margrave thinks while crossing through on his horse. "It's been a while since I haven't seen such activity".

The horse stopped while the Margrave looked around, taking in the stalls on the side, the people milling about, some with sacks of grain, and even shapes moving  in the buildings, barely seen via the windows. The town seems indeed to be recovering from its long slumber.

Could this be somehow related to the odd rumours about Zechariah's mystic experiences ? The timing certainly would certainly match, and the town wasn't exactly without its own experiences with the paranormal.

The Margrave took note of the activity and sent a note to an aide to buy some CK - a good proxy for the Kingdom's activity. He did not know what the future held, but he would certainly face it with more of a stake in the Kingdom and the town's future.

about 4 hours last block

On your local node ?
I doubt it's the case on the network, as blocks seem to be found just fine right now, and a 4 hour lapse seems unlikely. If it's on your node, try two commands in monerod:

"print_cn" and see if you have any connections. If you don't have any, exit monerod, delete p2pstate.bin, and restart monerod.

"set_log 1" and see if you get error messages when adding blocks

payment id has been filled - I don`t know how but gui-wallet doesnt accept it when paying

Be more precise about what you did, and what happened. Reading the above, I get the impression that the payment id was more sent, and not sent. Make sure you check the payment id is 64 characters (ie, not left a character out, etc).
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: February 16, 2017, 09:10:22 AM
I'd be happy to give a few pointers if you ask a bit more politely.

Edit: OK, not that impolite compared to some, so here goes:

This is a rct tx, so the amounts are not visible. I assume you looked at the inputs in your wallet to determine they were 5 and 5 monero, respectively. Monero picks N inputs, totally at least what you want to send plus the fee, and will return the extra as change. Change will be locked for 10 blocks. So if you wanted to send 7, and used 5+5 inputs, you'll get 2.9xxx as change (3, minus the tx fee).

If you sent to Polo and they did not receive it, maybe you did not put your payment id in. In that case, Polo still has the coins, but they don't know who to credit them to, since you didn't tell them by way of that payment id.

Those characters who have been dead for more than 30 days will have all their remaining possessions seized by the Town; who sells them and uses the money collected for the marketing of the game.
What exactly does this mean? That you loose any and all progress? Is that just the current state or is this considered a core game play mechanic?

It means that when your character dies, you have 30 days to create a heir. If you don't, you are deemed to have abandoned the game, and your dead character's possessions.
It's a game mechanic that was announced shortly before the move to the online version of the game, if memory serves, but I can't recall very clearly.

The Margrave of Stonehaven purposefully walks to the Obelisk, accompanied by a guard and a town crier. A gentle breeze freshens the sunny spring day, while the guard starts a rapid drumming rythm and the crier unrolls a scroll. The drum stops, and the crier and starts reading in a loud voice:

Gentlefolk of Cryptotown, Oyez! Oyez!

To those who hold the token named CK, the following is announced:

An automatic promotion round will be held, based on CK ownership in the past week. Automatic promotion is given to those in possession of enough CK days, as decreed by his Majesty the previous King. as detailed in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1616976.msg16248896#msg16248896.

Note that the above decree has its level list superceded by the following (level number, title, stamp tax in millions, CK-days threshold):

17 Duke / Duchess  -  promoted by King  -  10  -  50,000,000
16 Prince / Princess  -  promoted by King  -  10  -  15,000,000
15 Marquess / Marchioness  -  promoted by King  -  5  -  5,000,000
14 Earl / Countess  -  promoted by King  -  3  -  1,500,000
13 Baron / Baroness  -  promoted by Peers  -  2  -  500,000

Quoting from the previous King:
"Note that stamp tax is cumulative so it actually costs serious money to be already rich, eg instapromotion to Marquess is 2+3+5mil = 10mil"

The House as a whole promotes. If you do not wish all of your characters to promote and owe the stamp tax, you have a few months (real days) to notify the Margrave of Stonehaven of the fact.

To that effect, a list follows of those CK owners, as well as the size of their ownership, multiplied by one hundred, and their level. County ownership was accumulated to their owner's. By decree, all people who want to be part of the same House shall notify me, either by replying on this thread, or by BCT PM, so that their CK ownership may be pooled within the House, similarly to what was done for counties already. This will only be done on explicit notification, but possible people who might want to join an existing house would be: Gabriel, Itrix, Martti, among others. If the number of assumed CK-days on the right of your name is enough for promotion to a rank higher than the one your House holds, you will be promoted to that rank.

Thanks. Make sure you copy the whole address. Also check whether it starts with 4 or W, you might have got a Monero address (Arux reported refreshing the page keeps the selection as aeon but the rest of the logic resets - browser bug I think, but I'll merge Arux's patch for this soon).

Did it give a particular reason ?
Do other addresses work ?
Did you put the address in the correct place (ie, not payment id) ?
Does simplewallet accept this address ?
