Mikael, how do you decide which sievesize to set for which cpu? Or just experimenting in testnet? How many testnet blocks are there btw, wanted to test too, but downloading those blocks takes ages...
I'm guessing the optimal value may have something to do with L2 and L3 cache sizes. Large sieves also take long to build which means a new block may arrive before it's complete. Thanks, my i7 930 has 8MB cache aswell so i tried the values 1000000, 2000000 and 3000000 in testnet, 2M seems much faster than 1M indeed, 3M is slower than 2M but faster than 1M. Finetuning miners to find the best settings is always fun, cheers!

"Use it like this: primecoind -sievesize=2000000" <--- where exactly do I use this? Tried to type it in the console and got an error message.
You need to stop primecoind first.

Yes, got this problem with official and unofficial new builds on Windows. Will try primecoind, as that seems to be fine on linux.

Why do all the wallet lag on the block chain i have to stop and restart them all
Yep, my official windows 0.1.1 client hung on 22171.

Let it run overnight on an old i7 on linux, got one rejected block.

Please refrain from mining on momento. Our seed nodes are located there. If you kill the cluster you would cause me a lot of trouble.
Alright, sorry.

some of us on #eligius-prime were able with lukes help and others to get it running.. now im just waiting to see if i can actually get a block..
try testnet for tests! ./primecoind stop ./primecoind -testnet

referencing to this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252944.msg2715241#msg2715241OK since so many people have asked about the provider I use, it's https://momentovps.com/ . Note that my first instance got 1000 pps until the second instance started mining. I currently have 6 instances running, each averaging around 450 - 500pps. One instance is running Chemicist's mod getting the same performance. I noticed no performance difference between 1GB and 256MB RAM, but it's possible there are some load balancing rules favoring instances with more RAM. So if too many people join we will probably kill the cluster (I don't know which hardware is used, there's a topic here but it's pretty old). But since you have to install the OS on each server by hand via VNC (can't clone disks afaik, well now that i think about it you could attach two disks to one server and then clone the disk in linux; detaching drives doesn't work you have to delete the server, oh and their interface is a mess generally), I doubt too many people in this thread will make use of this provider. And before you get your hopes up, I got no blocks since I started mining there.

Very interesting, I expected a much higher "hashrate" increase given the rate at which blocks are solved. Looks like many many solo miners.

delete old primecoin source folder, git clone, make, strip, copy to your home dir

My last block: "confirmations" : 7263 Around 4k pps... Based on your rate i should get one every 450 - 1500 blocks. Seems I have bad luck now, need to get more servers. Yesterday.

Saw a decrease on my virtual servers too, but only when multiple instances run (from 500 down to 300), when only one instance runs pps go up from 1000 to 1300. On old CentrinoDuo laptop pps remained the same.

The problem is that it just keeps happening, and unless I constantly stare at that numbers I just end up wasting several hours of mining every time it does it. Is there seriously no way to fix this?
Get the new official client here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/primecoin/files/

What provider is that? Secret. I'll give you a hint: I paid with bitcoin.

That's weird, maybe you have a 32 bit Windows? Anyways, the anonppc build should be good to go, since he confirmed it being on the official codebase.
