582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: May 01, 2017, 04:35:34 PM
almost all altcoins and eth are red atm. btc is ath. remember this is the 1st day of may

Bitcoin dominance is at ATL too, I don't know where BTC is going but I wouldn't buy at these prices in a million years, I don't care if it goes to 2-3k so what, there are a lot of alts that went or are going to go 10x. I'm just not comfortable about Bitcoin future and infighting, too much uncertainty, chaos and arrogance for me to invest my money.

How much did Blockchain capitial invest in ETHCORE? How many ETHCORE company tokens will Blockchain capitial  get in the future ?

I don't think this deal is about tokens, Parity is a software studio/company, they get revenue when they are hired for consultancy, maintenance, development, etc. Considering blockchain is expanding at a rapid pace and will be everywhere in the next coming years (at least we hope so) these are the investments we want them to do, in actual blockchain business. Not everything will have a token, blockchain is and will be a major business like everything else.

I'm sure there would be a lot of "Blockchain Banks" too for example. Coinbase, Xapo and the like will be used by the average person most likely. Again, these companies could become huge or just get acquired by current giants if blockchain keeps growing. It's the logical thing to do since they are already industry leaders and had been doing this since inception.
ok, I agree your viewpoint.Maybe blockchain capitial will join Parity's Board of Directors, hold a certain ratio stocks of Parity. As we know, in the future, Parity company will start ico for their product "polkdot" tokens, I think blockchain capitial will get some tokens due to its director status.

Yes it can be considered an early founder and could receive a good share of the tokens, we don't know if there's such deal. Either way I'm sure they got equity in the company too, that's the appeal of this project. Anyone can get tokens or buy an crypto ETF or Index in the future, but true equity in business is very different. You don't hold just a token or a piece of software (that could still be very valuable indeed), you hold revenue, offices, computers, land, whatever the company owns.

Every price gain will come with a correction in the end. Happy crypto world

25% Gain in 1 day at current prices. That's incredible. Glad to be holding most of my portfolio in Ethereum Smiley

This is really amazing in my mind, What was driven the price of etheereum right now? I just think if this is caused by PoS implemented in the future. Someone has same thought with me?

There's just too much happening on Ethereum right now, Spotify just acquired Mediachain which uses Ethereum blockchain, Google did a test on it, something to do with book ownership (don't know much about it sorry!), Bank of America presented a demo. The EEA is for real guys, this is the only time we've seen such companies actually interested in blockchain projects. I won't even mention things like the Raiden Network, Ethereum Naming System and some very exciting dapps development.

Yes, most "bitcoiners" and skeptics will just say companies will steal the tech to create private chains. Sure, that's what's happening, private chains that communicate with the public so they can all build on the same infrastructure and have mutual trust. There's no point on building a completely private blockchain, it's just a regular old database.

Ethereum could still crash and burn but unless something very bad happen in the next months, the trend is most definitely up and depending on Metropolis hype (next release) and POS hybrid implementation a huge rally/bubble could start (+$100-200 prices).
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Lykke - Semi-decentralized Exchange on the Blockchain on: April 28, 2017, 01:32:43 PM
I don't understand it much but this looks interesting.

But if you say 1 Lykke = 1 share in the company... what company are u referring to? Can you give more details and proof of this company?

And PROOF that owner of 1 Lykke = 1 share of this company?

The question you ask is basically what enforces that 100 LKK = 1 Lykke Corp share.

The answer is legally nothing, at least right now and that's because of current regulations.

You will have to trust Lykke that they will abide to this agreement. As its site mentions, they could release these shares the old way as regular companies do to make it "official" but the whole philosophy of Lykke is that regulators and companies should meet halfway. I'm sure being located at Switzerland definitely helps and if you've been following some news lately there's a strong momentum going in terms of recognizing digital companies and organizations.

Here is a lot more info if you want to dig in: https://www.lykke.com/Lykke_Corp_Placement_Memorandum.pdf

We already have 2 official semi-finals, one for each conference:

Toronto vs Cleveland and Houston vs San Antonio.
They are really 2 balanced and interesting games!

Surely  Cleveland and San Antonio are favorites but I would not be surprised   to see the series come to the seventh game.
Houston rockets cannot beat the Spurs with lack of defense, their shooting is overrated and this time they will be tested if their experiment is really working. Other match up looks excited, cavaliers and raptors are both good team but I still believe I will see the same result last year.

Well, semi finals are more exciting and I honestly would love to see the Bulls will upset the Celtics so it's going to be a good East Finals.

As a Cavs fan, I'm not seeing any sort of threat in Toronto, I think the Wizards could give them more problems, or the Bulls/Celtics. Toronto looked so fragile against Milwaukee that I still don't know how they got through in 6 games. As for the Spurs and Rockets, another series that I think it's a given for San Antonio, Popovich will tear D'Antoni apart just on the strategy side. The only thing Houston can do is hit all time records for threes and run like hell to tire San Antonio down. The latter could actually be a very powerful weapon if used right but I'm sure San Antonio knows how to minimize it (similar strategy they will use for the Warriors).

Hello,

I own some Lykke and I am excited about the project. There is a similar project, Melonport (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1763204.0), running on ethereum. I find them very similar and at the end of the day offering similar products. Do you see any difference between the two?

As tempus explained Lykke current focus is a little different to Melonport. As far as I understand Melonport is creating a protocol that can be used to build tools for managing funds and tradeable assets. Kinda like Gnosis would be the base layer of prediction markets from where a company/site like Bet365 could be built on top on.

Lykke does not aim to be only "just an exchange" though, there are many plans for the future, including offering your own company stocks, create custom trading instruments and many other exciting ideas.

You may check out this Lykke Accelerator overview where more info about turn-key services are discussed:

scam , this is a scam LOL
What now? Smiley

A "scam" with Tim Draper onboard, plenty of big names managing it and investing 500k into ETHCore/Parity. I appreciate the efforts to investigate and do due diligence with any crypto projects but let's not get carried away with those tin foil hats folks. No ICO guarantees profits or that it will be a good investment, it's at your own discretion where to invest, there's plenty of other ICOs or opportunities right now, but calling everything a scam is ridiculous like it usually happens at this forum and is turning it into a cesspool.

It also reminds of the boy who cried wolf tale, all this noise and I've seen a lot of minor projects literally scam 50-200 BTC on this forum while no one paid any attention.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: April 27, 2017, 05:19:29 PM
Lol, there is no way you'll have a chance to scoop up ETH around $20-25, let alone $4-5  Cheesy. That would mean the market cap will half. so 2 billion $$ would've been taken out.
There is no way that is going to happen, it's only growing, slowly but surely. I'd recon $70-80 by summers end.
You'd be stupid if you take your money out of ETH now, it's the biggest crypto platform with by far the biggest support.
Let us assume that ETH as a contract is soaring and having a good time with all the new projects are using them as a platform but it is not a real currency to begin with and with the ETF talks reappearing again i will not let go of my coins for any contracts and that is the bottom line.

Please explain to me what is a real currency?

I have not used the ETH to buy anything yet.

That's fair, ETH actually has a purpose other than being a currency, but I'm sure it can also be used as a currency just fine too if you want to. I remember to have "bought" at lot of ICO tokens for example. What's the point of buying things with a "currency" like BTC (or ETH) for example perhaps is the better question, do you like jumping through hoops, handling decimals and worry about how much will you have next week? No retail business (big or small) can work on that, that's why Bitcoin never catch on in this field and most likely never will. A currency needs to be somewhat stable to be used daily, weekly and monthly.

Is there any ICO now we can use ETH to buy?

Of course, there are plenty at the moment, many big ones are already finished though.

You can keep an eye of current and upcoming ones with sites such as:

I know this deal is done now but does anyone have a copy of the offering memorandum? It's not on the tokenhub site anymore and I would like to read through it to see if an investment makes sense once the token starts trading.

Feel free to PM me, and happy to pay a few dollars for a copy if there is one.

Reads to me like they got deleting shit down to a science.

It never was available to the public I think, you need to be logged in to view it, it's still there.

The conversion was fair in a way that it was very close to what we sent at the time. The thing is the actual conversion happened many days after the ICO and both BTC and especially ETH increased in value. Where would that difference go is something I particularly don't know but it should be refunded or the value of each token increased.
As long as they hold them in BTC or ETH the value of each token is increased.
There are 10M tokens with the combined value of what ever the fund holds. Havning them be worth more than $10M is a good thing.

I was under the impression both BTC/ETH were already converted to fiat, they don't hold crypto anymore. We got our tokens based on that final rate (around $44.xx for ETH). If they have 11M as you mentioned earlier because of this and each token is valued at $1.1 then that's perfectly acceptable. If not, then a refund of the difference should be made.

"ETHCORE’s mission is to enable businesses and organisations to capitalise on blockchain technology and benefit from the new opportunities it presents. We develop cutting-edge software solutions for enterprises and industries to unlock the full value of decentralised technology. We believe that decentralised technology has the power to fundamentally change and enhance the systems used by businesses, consumers, and governments every day."

I just realized that Ethcore is the best investment BCAP could ever make. Yes, people can invest on the Ethereum public blockchain but enterprise side of Ethereum is where the money is at. There is a possibility ethcore could sell enterprise style ethereum to corporations for millions. There is no way for the public to invest in Enterprise Ethereum Alliance or IBM's Hyperledger but the public can invest in Ethcore. Just mi 2 cents.

I'm still upset about the conversion rate though.  Undecided

The conversionrate issue might be because its oversubscribed, basicly making each token worth more the the $1 target.

The number of tokens was fixed at 10M tokens, if they managed to get $11M before they closed the ICO, then each token would be worth $1.1, making the conversionrate seem worse.

I dont know if that what has happened, but I think its a possibility.

The conversion was fair in a way that it was very close to what we sent at the time. The thing is the actual conversion happened many days after the ICO and both BTC and especially ETH increased in value. Where would that difference go is something I particularly don't know but it should be refunded or the value of each token increased.
