581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 16, 2013, 05:38:52 PM

I guess but would be nice to have an idea of their initial capactiy, which is why i was asking if anyone knew what it was.  I'd think they wouldnt be placing more chip orders until they at least get one batch in. So shipping starts in sept for batch 1 ?? 2014 for batch 2? who knows.

When you place a pre-order for a product that has never shipped before, you take your chances! If KNCminer are smart they would have ordered enough chips to keep some stock, I am sure that's what BFL tried to do, but it all fell apart when they discovered they would need twice as many chips per unit to meet the performance they promised!

Because it take a couple of months for a chip order to be manufactured, you would want to order at least two months more chip stock as you had orders in hand for, but the gamble is always will the chips perform as simulated, and is the order rate consistent hence predictable?

When the chips come arrive in September, and KNCminer test their prototypes, we shall know more, until then everything is just speculation, and probably a little pointless.

We never know if Sam can provide at least one chip in real as the company only provides 100G module.
Currently The hosting service is too nasty for some people as some of people only have enough money at the start and don't want too much trouble which likes Avalon case before.

Well, you cannot do too far, history teaches us.

Well, the being is on trust. Not for wasting everyday. What you will do with the redistribution? You are not just waiting. I have plans, but only be available when Sam allows me to put deux chip into his office.

NSA paper, 1996: "How To Make A Mint: The Cryptography of Anonymous Electronic Cash". One referenced crypto expert is named Tatsuaki Okamoto.

Just admit it's you already!!    Tongue

Seriously though thanks for the link... fascinating.

This is one of the people. I don't think this being is the only one man stuff. Why the being is exposed to public? What is the purpose?
585  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Able to convert server psu for mining purposes? on: July 16, 2013, 05:08:17 PM
Yes. What are you going to mine?

If Litecoin, you will need 2U at least to do.
586  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin miner couple of questions on: July 16, 2013, 05:06:32 PM
Hi,
I am interested in mining, but I have noticed I would have to spend thousands to get a miner actually worth using for mining bitcoin. However I noticed that people mine alt currencies and this could be profitable if an alt currency rises to such a level like bitcoin. I have always posted in the gambling and currency exchange section and as I am not new to bitcoin per say, I am relatively new to mining.

My questions are this:

-Is there a miner that has a breakeven point of 3 months or less at the current difficulty that costs under $500 for an in hand unit?

-Also, of these units are there any that are compatible with mining other currencies as this is what I would be mainly using it for, not mining bitcoin as the difficulty is so high.

-Third, how hard honestly is it to mine and get it all set up for someone who does many investments but does not know much of installing or running commands on a terminal.

-I saw those USB 330mg/s mining units that were just released which can be bought for roughly $125 each, would they be able to mine alt currencies at 330 mg/s too?

-Finally, can I mine at a successful rate and the advertised rate on mining units using a Mac, I know Macs are horrible for hash rate so would this hurt the units effective mining rate? Sorry for all these questions, but I definitely would appreciate any answers!

Regards,
-KingofSports

To answer the question, there are few points to point out first.
1. Having eruptor USB or Avalon array, the being only targets on SHA256  due to non-flexible
nature to provide high speed. You can mine other which supports SHA256, I think the other crypto is a fork of something in order to simulate different elements.

2. There are many people knowing how. Keep asking these fatty.

3.  Let me see. The question is on GPU.
587  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone have any idea how to control a Win 8 rig from another room? Wireless KVM? on: July 16, 2013, 04:54:38 PM
The easiest way is using RDP.
588  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why is total hash rate dropping so much? on: July 16, 2013, 04:52:53 PM
People switch their rig, especially GPU array to another crypto. If in bitcoin case.

Additionally, some Accelarators are out of order during operation

Too horrible.
591  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin - we have a problem. on: July 14, 2013, 04:17:04 PM
Use Litecoin.

There is no ASICs at all, furthermore transaction is four time faster in ordinary state.

The statement is meaningless. Currently, litecoin ASIC does not exist for the time being because of costly memory.  Currently, GPU is a form of ASIC.

After mtgox has adjusted self. This will get better as mtgox is confirmed as no LR.
593  Economy / Economics / Re: is it easier to obtain btc in asia than USA? on: July 12, 2013, 09:21:03 AM
The biggest banker is in NIPPON so This should be easier to do.

In the States, It relies on worlds. There are 50 Worlds, Currently the Florida is the worst one due to bad order effective. Perhaps You should check your banker like CAMPBX, How many states are allowed this first.

Additionally, You shall construct your own solar panel if you like to do reasonably. I think the states has some options like this due to bad connections.

For more details, Check FinCEN, I take CAMPBX for reference.

CAMPBX is registered in Georgia (Atlanta), You are no worry if you deploy your mining grid in there. The other, you will need to check out in detail as some worlds are not allowed this like Florida (Due to poorly written orders unless being receified).

If you ask where you should operate this in the States, You have many options except Florida due to unstable nature.

For my personal opinion, Select The States which is allowed Bitcoin first, For instance Georgia is a good option for it. Washington D.C may be too costly to operate. You will need to ask others for more details as my view is limited.

If like to keep higher than 266 USD, then what is the factor to keep that up?

Big project like this, not possible to modify method at the later stage. Also there is not only one
598  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why Scrypt and alternative hashing algorithms are pointless. on: July 12, 2013, 03:55:57 AM
Pointless? I don't think so as each method has its weakness. I don't think the alterative way is pointless. It is just time.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 12, 2013, 02:03:16 AM
I guess that's my point. Metabank and KNC both collected pre-order money in early June.  Metabank's Bitfury chips have been manufactured but KNC's have not. It may just be a difference in schedule priorities. Just wondering...

May be KNC need to disclosed more details on what's going on? be more open.

The latest report reports they still keep on trackbefore 30 September 2013.

Does it concern anyone that Bitfury has chips in the field being tested with images and videos available?
Will we see similar from KNC? Aren't they both projecting miner availability in September?

https://bitcentury.io/blog/bitfury-asic-in-action

Why are you expecting this kind of video from KNCminer when it's pretty obvious that the ASIC wafers are still in production? You can't have a prototype video without the chips!

They already did a video with the FPGA prototype.

The Kncminer only proves they are doong the thing.
