generally in tech it's mostly dudes.  normal.

Ah, yes but that may change soon though. There are loads of super smart girls out there (myself excluded) and nowadays they're being even more encouraged to go techy.

One of the top PHP programmers in the world is a female. Woman named Sarah Golemon from the UK. she works at facebook i believe.

Job over $100 - 10% up front, 90% escrowed with terms agreement.

What is the point of having 10% paid upfront if 90% is being escrowed?
The funds are being escrowed anyway, so it's safe for you to start your project.

Fixed price job. i take 10 percent up front, on the off chance the client is a scammer and tries to get his money out of escrow when receiving the code. this is pretty common on freelancing programs. clients will hire you accept the work, even pay you, then after they take the code they do a chargeback or claim you didn't deliver the code. it's a checksum of sorts. this term only applies to fixed price jobs, not hourly jobs. It doesn't matter atm anyway. I'm booked solid for the next two months other than the weekends.

You have negative feedback. You should accept funds in full escrow

You should mind your own business :-)

I recommend you do, there is still a chance of you taking the money and running.

There's also a chance of being screwed out of money all together. if buyer has to pay up front a percentage, it can keep them honest. i wasn't born yesterday. At any rate, i don't even care at this point. I'm here as a service, and it if its going to be this much of a hassle, no thanks. i'm doing just fine already :-)

Code:
namespace FooBar;
use FooBar\Bar;
class Foo Extends Bar {
function __construct($foo, $bar){
$parent:: __construct($foo,bar);
}
}

70  Economy / Gambling / Re: dice.ninja - Now with Plinko! on: October 10, 2014, 03:49:41 AM
its unlikely to be a hack, the odds of these things happening in the same day is really low. the fact that the coins were moved is a RED FLAG that they might run

son, they ran 4 hours ago.
71  Economy / Gambling / Re: dice.ninja - Now with Plinko! on: October 10, 2014, 03:44:34 AM
How long has DN been down for?

A few hours at least.

So here are the red flags so far:

  • Coins were moved out of the vanity cold wallet address and we don't know the new address(es)
  • All this is happening when the invested amount was at its highest levels to date
  • All three related sites disappeared at the same time at the DNS level
  • Gmail account has been deleted as noted by NLNico
  • dmf and toad are nowhere to be found

What are the not-so-red flags? I can't come up with anything comforting ATM.

Edit: the best I can think of is that Amazon yanked the sites and dmf/toad have full backups ready to be deployed as soon as they wake up in their time zone.

Seems to be removed? Was still online few days ago.

I am afraid that removing the twitter and email accounts really looks like they are gone.

The only hope would be if they used the same password on amazon/twitter/gmail and a hacker removed the stuff. But I am afraid these odds are relatively small.
pretty unlikely a hacker takes the time to frame the owners, unless he's just that paranoid.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man's bitcoin mining leads to police raiding his home on: October 10, 2014, 01:59:47 AM
Thats silly. spend all that money to raid someone just for an alleged plant?

u make it sound so innocuous.  but it causes schizophrenia in some people
That'd have to be a pretty major study to prove it. You'd have to collect at least a thousand people people in various age, geographical, and ethnic groups, then have one group smoking and one group not, with regular, frequent drug testing. At the start and end, you'd have to then give everyone a psych exam -- this'd help remove any problems with selection bias, I'd guess.

Given how many schizophrenics are undiagnosed, I'd be more willing to bet the possible temporary paranoia of smoking exacerbates the person's eccentricities enough to lead to hospitalization which then leads to a schizophrenia diagnosis. If they put you in the psych ward to start out with in a hospital, that being on your record might influence whether or not a borderline's diagnosed, too.

It does cause schizorphrenia in some people with prolonged use. i quit smoking marijuana because i would hear evil voices. they would tell me disturbing shit too. i'll never smoke that shit again, it was fucking up my brain. i can remember that i was barely cognitive when i stopped smoking marijuana, and suffered acute social anxiety. a few years later i feel fine now. maybe a bit nervous. no more voices, no more nasty lung infections. you watch though, they'll legalize this shit and the country will be filled with zombie ass morons who are barely cognitive.

76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christian BS on: October 10, 2014, 01:10:52 AM
Christianity today isn't what Christianity was 2000 years ago. Most Christians don't want to admit this, but wouldn't adhere to "Real Christianity." Much of it's irrelevant if
religious text, I think it's worth respecting insofar as it's worth respecting that they willfully submit to a set of rules which generally command they act in a way the rest of us would consider moral. Geography-based, non-voluntary governments aren't generally accepted to enforce "non-pragmatic morality" (... .... though this thought seems to be eroding every day), so it's reasonable to have "gap coverage" for people who want a more comprehensive set of rules we "all" agree on. The value of religion, though, erodes dramatically if they don't command a high market share with regards to the adherent market.

-But it should be sold that way, these days, I think, if it's to be honest. It should just be a kind of honor code, and if you want to have a bumper sticker saying you adhere to the set of rules, and even if you try to "convert" people to accept your honor code -- great! At least everyone else can know what to expect. ... I'm not totally put off to the idea that honor codes should exist... but the books of most religions are far too long, and in archaic language. The Bible, I'd guess, could probably be compressed to ~20 pages at most.

We all want these kinds of rulesets to some extent, I think. Some want the exhaustive Bible list (or just the 10 Commandments), some want the exhaustive list in the Koran... some have their own individual codes (or as they interpret the NAP)... some go by mafia codes... some go by law. If we could just all agree on what is and isn't the behavior of an asshole, I'd guess there'd be no conflict.
Actually, we only keep the moral rules from the OT.

In our beliefs Jesus made a new covenant on the cross, so the OT is... outdated.

But, Jesus isn't God and the Bible/your law is supposed to be God's word. I don't get it, I don't know of any scripture that says you should listen to the NT over the OT, or to listen to Jesus' law. And, since he made a new covenant, wouldn't you be disobeying the old covenant, too?

What if, since there's not publishing date of the Bible, the NT was published before the OT?
Jesus died for our sins according to the new testament, therefore a new pact between God and man was born. atleast thats what i got from reading it as a young man.

Look at the profound thoughts of Lethn in all their glory. Next think you know he'll be walking on water, while simultaneously turning it to wine.

Fortunately, unlike Jesus, I'm not arrogant enough to think that I can ignore the laws of physics.

To quote Aesop Rock, you've got alot of nerve.  Undecided
