61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: March 01, 2015, 07:37:38 PM
I don't see the issue in me reiterating my stance on crypto, technology, our direction etc. a problem considering it hasn't changed. I still believe in/against education, yearlong patience, not toying with experimental code, market manipulation, constant hard forks, patience, usage focus over price etc.

I've always been uncomfortably open. I've always spared the usual scene bullshit because this entire forum is a circus.

And all of a sudden my stance is an issue because what the community has decided slightly contradicts that?

I'm not even fighting it. I'm keeping the services and support and everything else running and building upon. I supported it in private completely until I got tired hearing in public that I'm not being helpful or have run away. When anyone can see I still log in daily.

But since it suddenly conflicts with what you want it's an issue for the first time in 12 months?

Please. Is NOBL 'Rofo' or is it a democratic community..or a cryptocurrency. This isn't a personality cult.

Kudos.  You are the most sensible altcoin dev I have encountered in a long time.

Everyone else:   before this announcement, you didn't have Rofo's total support,  after this announcement, you still don't have Rofo's entire support.  The only difference is that you know why, and it's not unreasonable for him to feel thi way.  Yet the bottom line for NOBL, or what you are trying to do with it (POS algo change, etc),  has not been significantly altered by any of these developments.

I don't know how much the doge community donated Cheesy but they sponsored a bobsled team on the olympics Cheesy

It was the equivalent of USD $30,000 at the time, in DOGE.   A lot of zeros in that Tx.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: February 26, 2015, 10:33:09 PM
So for the PoA campaign I'm thinking:

1. Follow on FB
2. Follow on Twitter
3. Tweet about POS switch
4. Retweet about Campaign

Ctenc, can we do a couple of manual ones? If so I'm thinking:

5. Join us in IRC on #Noblecoin (I will moderate this as well as I can)
6. Then maybe one about posting on here, but I don't want the thread full of junk.

Will any articles be ready soon? If so I will add a couple of actions to read them.

What do people reckon? I could do with some help with the twitter ones, twitter is not my strong point!
Right out of the box, we support a 'visit a site' action. From reading this, we probably need an entry field for a username? i'll see what I can work up in short order to allow for this.

Thanks Smiley

Thinking about it, I think we will just do a "visit the noble thread" action, so wouldn't need a username box for that, just the IRC one.
Bitcointalk doesn't allow people to 'pay for posts' on their forums. A coin got banned a few months back using my old campaign system when they set up an action that did that. Even after they cancelled the action, they kept closing their threads.

We should set a goal of how many users we want.
For example, if we want say 200 users, and we fundraise 1M nobl, then
1,000,000 / 200 = 5000 NOBL.
That would be for the entire campaign.
so 5000 NOBL / 4 actions is 1250 NOBL per action.

That's how I would go about figuring it out. With this mindset, we have an end-goal, and we make each action as enticing as possible to achieve that endgoal.
That's not to say the numbers above should be our endgoal, that's just how I would come up with it.
5000 NOBL would only be $.17 worth of coin at current price.

Ok, so nothing to do with paying out for visiting here then!

I think 10,000 would be more worthwhile. I guess not everyone is going to do all of the actions. How many did we get last time?

Thanks to Adam and TimC we now have 1127036 Cheesy

I would rather us be generous and get more people than stingy and get less. If worst comes to worst I'm sure we could find more somewhere.

I am happy this campaign is happening due to James's and ctenc001 efforts! This is great.

As I said on IRC I do not intend to be one man's army and this is great feeling to know other people are working towards same goal Wink

You have a lot of supporters on Cryptsy,  if you aren't already aware of that.  I hear someone talking about NOBL almost every time i trade there, for weeks.  It's hard to have a conversation about anything else sometimes :/

Devs would you be willing to give us your identity/linkedin pages? If not, could you please elaborate why not? thanks in advance!

Hello Geenstijl,

Appreciate your presence and please allow me to answer your question. It's actually a good one and we are glad you asked.

---Devs would you be willing to give us your identity/linkedin pages? If not, could you please elaborate why not? thanks in advance!---

MTR administration is currently in the process of getting Coin Source verified (Highest Rating) and we believe this is a good start for the matter.

MTR administration wishes to stay private in the short comings for a few reasons:

When a company is private, that company can raise funds from outside sources other than crowdfunding. This will allow us to gain funding from outside private investors and VC's from all parts of the world, with ZERO restrictions. This is very important to us. This means if we don't raise enough from Crowdfunding to complete the necessary tasks at hand for complete MTR development we can easily start reaching out to angel investors and private VC's. We made the whitepaper as professional as we could for this very reason.

The 10M coins in the reserve will be used for situations like this and they will act as a stock for investors to buy into when the opportunity presents itself.

When we said "short comings" - allow me to explain. Normally when private companies get a major investment, it's protocol for that company to prelude into a public company and entity. This also allows MTR administration to invest into the company's share holdings (10M), and ultimately will help raise capital at the same time

UPS chose to go public in 1999 after 92 years in business (privately) to raise the amount of capital necessary to compete in the global delivery marketplace.

MTR administration currently wishes to take this route and believes its the best move in the matter for gradual growth.

As mentioned above, we appreciate your question, and we hope this answer is a suitable response for you.

Good to know the answer. Private is something else than Anonymous.
I think every investor can decide for himself whether it is sufficient.

Thanks.

well put together, also appreciate the extra information on a future scenario.

Wait,  "private"  vs  "public" doesn't have anything to do with whether the identities of the owners are known.  Those terms refer to whether the public can buy shares in the company, not whether it's possible to know the identities of the people who are running it.

"Private"  doesn't mean  "run by anonymous individuals." The identities of the administration running UPS weren't obscured behind fictitious names before UPS went public.

Since you are doing something similar to making an offer to buy 'shares' of this 'company' (in altcoin terms),  mastertradercoin would not qualify as as "private" even by that definition.  You are scrambling up a number of concepts here.

Is the team behind this coin anonymous or public?

See my post above.  At this time they are anonymous.

Have you tried

I should have read that more carefully, i see now that the switch to POS is not happening on mainnet yet, but on testnet things are looking pretty good.

Might want to take down the marketplace or update the prices, they are either wrong or nonexistent right now.

So no pos yet then?

Soon. You know? For some reason you have to test development work, especially when its handling peoples money...

And i think the pos dev team has been more than clear in this time schedule

Btw tests are still going on, joined finally, overseen the new "noblepos" folder
in the app directory, where to put the edited noblecoin.conf file .

Resources and infos (some posts before  Grin ) for joining the tests:

I see some people taking profits now,  hope that doesn't turn into panic dumping.  Still way up over a little while ago,  this new floor is looking reliable.

When does the coin swap program start?

Is this not the right place to get current status?   Should I be looking in a different thread---    pretty quiet here.

Since things are looking fine on the tech side, I guess it's time to worry about the non-tech side:

  • make sure all exchange operators can be reached, and get an advance notice
  • make a list of all other services that should be notified
  • finalize a date & block height for the switch
  • communicate that date & block height to all

would be good to have access to twitter account by that day. I think Rofo will support us with that.

I will spread the word via my blog. so we have a solid page that covers the news.

9 BTC order on Bittrex at 8 sat.  Roll Eyes

Cryptsy has a 10 BTC order at 8 sat also.   Interesting...

Lots of suppport coming in thats for sure... it would be nice having a couple more people on twitter would help with getting more people involved!

https://twitter.com/needacoin/status/564164078977835010

That 10 BTC support at 8 is now moving up, they must be tired of never getting dumped on...    Now most of it is at 9 and 10 sats is already filling up fast.   Not pretending to understand it, just like to see things move and be lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

It seems to be propped up by some people who think that the coin supply is going to be cut off soon,  but I can't find anything in here to support that idea.

Am I missing something?

Tests of new PoS wallet are in progress - Noblecoin is still PoW coin though

Update 2015-02-08: about 48h of tests have passed
- we are at block 1514
- no major issues so far
- 83% of last 1000 were created using PoS. this is slightly higher than ideal 80% but nothing to be concerned about. so both PoW and PoS are working fine.
- good news is PoS difficulty went up distinctly from 0.0017 10h ago to 0.0866 now. This means our test network is becoming stronger.
- documentation is becoming better as various people hit edge cases and this is being documented. I'm still looking for more feedback on docs so if something is not right, not clear or can be improved please let me know.

Is this the reason for the huge buy support Smiley

Yeah, I think so. People are starting to notice Noble.

great news, eagleflies Smiley

and a great volume on the exchanges!
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MRY] Murraycoin ▪ The Only Currency Worthy of Bill Murray ▪ Now Scrypt-2048 on: February 03, 2015, 10:26:07 PM
Brock you seem like a smart guy who just believed your own story a little too much.  As Charlie Munger says, what someone is shouting out to others they are also pounding in to their own head.  I don't doubt you have a lot of sunk costs in MRY but that only underscores how strong the force of gravity is for this coin.

Celebrity coins that aren't publicly or even privately endorsed by the person they are named after will not work.  Maybe someday they will, and maybe Brock you hoped to pad your CV with this project so you could go into the "celeb coin" consulting business or whatever.  But that day is a long way off, if it ever comes at all and if it does the world will be a very different place. It certainly doesn't change the fact that people lost money on your project and the donation pool to the Murray Bros. foundation is so tiny I would be surprised if they took it at all just because of the accounting headache involved with crypto.   But I guess you and your band o' MRY men had fun along the way, maybe that's a fair trade for some.

Since I tried to explain this at length back *last* February to the people in this thread, and of course got my posts deleted and called a troll (and yet... here we are, with MRY circling the drain as predicted), i am not going to spend much effort this time other than to say "do your due diligence," people.  And most of all, just because someone such as BHolzer is articulate and motivated doesn't mean they can overcome forces much bigger than they are nor are they necessarily acting in anyone's best interests but their own. Use common sense.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: February 03, 2015, 08:46:06 PM
That guy posted this in July of last year:

"Hello im not new on the cryptoworld even not with the ultracoin as i think is one of the best coins out there but i have been watching the community from the outside until today that i decided to make an account and express my ideas .Why we cannot just arange a buying meeting on mintpal or cryptsy and just keep buying until we push the price to 0.00007-0.0001 i can use 2-5 btc ..if we gather all the community to buy this can attract some new buyers also some investors.....on the other side i dont have too much idea about what we can do to promote the coin because i really love it and how fast it is...but i can give 5-10 btc to make some new things for the coin..im waiting some reply from the new investors or bumface for some cooperations...Also we can arrange EVERY WEEK something like ULTRA-CHARITY and everybody on the community can donate as much as bitcoins can on a common wallet for ultracoin managed by the developer and use them to buy ultracoin and invest them on the coin...LETS TAKE THIS COIN TO THE FUTURE!!"

So basically he was betting on a quick buck and that didn't happen, so he tried to come in to the thread and rally the troops with a promise of a pump and must have gotten distracted by some other shiny thing.
If he paid attention there were several opportunities to make "pump" money in UTC but i guess he missed the boat and is now a little bitter about that.

Most trolls are nothing but former "fair weather friends."

UTC is cool, it's one of the elite coins that everyone knows "something" will happen with sooner or later. People just have no patience.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hilarious buttcoin reddit humor - bad sign for bitcoin (and all crypto?) on: February 02, 2015, 11:00:51 PM
It's been my first stop for bitcoin updates and commentary for almost a year now.

Buttcoin is The Daily Show for bitcoin, in blog format.   The regulars there are not your garden variety ignorant haters; they generally understand Bitcoin from a big picture angle far better than the typical /r/Bitcoin, /r/bitcoinmarkets and the crowd on this site as well.
I think the bottom line for understanding /r/Buttcoin is that most of them are clearly former (and even current) enthusiasts who understand the protocol and the community quite well, and are more critical than enthusiastic as a result of that understanding.

Like ex-Mormons or Scientologists or the formerly religious turned consciously atheistic people tend to be in general.

They understand that however feasible or infeasible the protocol itself may be, the protocol and the community attracted to it are inseparable components of "Bitcoin", and consequently that actions of one cannot function independently of or be reconciled without respect to the other.  The skepticism is thus not aimed so much at the protocol itself as it is at the intentions and incentives or certain toxic factions within the community who publicly cheer the whole movement on, while using the protocol as a shield to obfuscate their abuse of the movement for their own benefit.

The sub is gaining quite a lot of attention in the past few months, and unfortunately that means quality will suffer over time as more me-too types show up.  But right now it is in a sweet spot, a gilded age funded by mining the /r/bitcoin sub and the wider community for its limitless veins of Comedy Gold.

There is some hilarious (and very sad) anti-bitcoin humor on this reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin

including this
http://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/2ugdyn/butters_begin_to_come_to_the_startling/
http://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/2surcf/btc_bulls_that_cry_btc_buy_the_cliff_btc_boy_is/
and this
http://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/2uiv4e/buttcoin_song_time/

I imagine can't be a very good sign that this crypto ecosystem is all that healthy (if anyone needed any more signs of that).
Let's all hope 2015 will mark a reversal, for alts and blockchain tech in general if not for bitcoin in particular, which is looking pretty far gone these days.

You need to spend more time on that sub - those aren't even very funny compared to what's usually there.

Hilarious & often more technical (albiet about as objective) as what you will find in /r/bitcoin or bitcointalk

Yes, it is surprisingly equal parts substantive and funny. It's a healthy reality check, for sure.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead-Officially) on: January 30, 2015, 07:47:33 AM
lol look at you pathetically waggling your weak little e-prick.  God what a chode gobbler you are, a classic mom's basement shut-in ITG assburger's case.

You, nor anyone else, can do anything at all in any practical case to prevent other parties' appropriation of LTCD "assets" if they so desired.  NOTHING.  the initialism LTCD   is not protected under any force of law until someone moves to protect it, and they won't, because they can't even pay for a half assed dev to fix it let alone a legal team to defend it.

The only reason you are stunting like this is because you know nobody gives a shit enough to care about 'taking' the laughing stock joke that is LTCD, so you will never have to back your fantasy enforcement talk with action.

You are done, you have no credibility and spent every drop of goodwill being a general fuckface to people who were trying to help.  And I am loving the consequent drama as you try to pretend you aren't the pariah you made yourself into over all this.

You want to be an uncivil ass and lob insult grenades at people safely from behind your pissant little self-mod topic scam shield?  I may have provoked some of it and i don't mind a little forum brawling as a result, that's expected.
But you also pulled that same shit on people who never deserved it and you had nothing to redeem yourself with in terms of results.  You are not even a proper scammer, you are a failed wannabe aspirational scammer.

Oh yeah - before you go there,  i already did your mom, she thanked me and paid in BTC because even she knows how worthless her son's efforts were to reboot LTCD.

In order to continue this line of discussion in proper context, I need to know if you are a dick or a criminal.

Are you trolling for the sake of dickness? Or are do you intend to make an attempt to seize control of the LTCD project criminally?

You brought it up, you showed your ass. What kind of ass are we looking at?

Ok then tell me how it pertains to intellectual property laws in any way whatsoever if the community creates new forums, new Github and changes the name slightly? You stated you don't own any Coins anyways so why does it even matter?

Are you a "dick" or a "criminal"?

I know plenty about intellectual property and lawyers. It seems you do not.

You have not even addressed what specific intellectual property I am referring to and you've not even bothered to ask.

I will continue to point out the holes in what you post while not responding to your implications until you take your turn and tell us...

Are you a "dick" or a "criminal"?

It is the same thing, go consult with a lawyer on intellectual property laws if you don't believe me.

You won't say "yes" and you won't say "no". I presume you could possibly be a criminal dick, then. And you really have nothing of substance to say or a leg to stand on.

Paycoin has nothing to do with this conversation. The circumstances are different.

Until you respond with "dick" or "criminal", I will disregard you.

LiteCoindark is not intellectual property since it's based on open source code. If that was the case then the old PayCoin could have sued the new PayCoin but can't because it is not classed as either intellectual property nor a legal entity.

We (at least I) are not discussing domain names. The subject is intellectual property.

So, to be clear:

Do you intend to make unauthorized use of intellectual property known as LiteCoinDark? Reply with a firm "yes" or "no", please. By stating which it is, we can be clear whether you are being hypothetical and trolling a non-issue just to be a dick or we can be clear that you have criminal intent.

Thank you.

Domains are not classified as intellectual property nor are names of Cryptocurrencies.

I did not say me.

The owner of the intellectual property resides in a country that recognizes different laws than you are considering or even aware of.

Basically talking out your ass to hear your own thoughts.

It's over. Drop it. There's nothing you can do about it.

Actually there is no law against someone else claiming the name. PayCoin took the same name as an established Cypto but legally there was nothing they could do about it.

You say it like you could sue them if they took the name just because you want to keep it dead out of spite, you can't and would never hold up in court.

Forward progress is not going to happen. Therefore dead. Not abandoned. Legally different meaning. Abandoned would mean somebody else could claim the name, the domain, etc without potential repurcussion.

Example, if your car died and you decided not to repair it but did keep it parked in your driveway - it would be useless but remain yours. If you left it dead on the side of the road (public property), it would be considered abandoned - you would lose any legal claim of ownership in 30 days which would allow anyone that wanted to take it the legal right to do so without any repurcussion.

Why do so many people deliberately make my words worse when it suits them and make them better when it suits them - instead of just reading the words and using their truly defined meaning? I use the words properly. People don't read properly.

I smell a rat here, almost a scam on the back of another scam.

Coin announced as dead, yet no immediate drop in value?

Almost a u turn from "LTCD died in November. LTCD is officially dead today. Nothing more to discuss. No complaining or bitching will change that.

Sell."

To "A point of note: LTCD project is not being abandoned. It simply cannot feasibly make any further forward progress. LTCD project will continue and persist until such time as the legal possessor(s) of the intellectual property known as LitecoinDark cease and dissolve it."

It's either dead, or it's not.

And the somewhat false "An official announcement will be made by Alec if he ever gets off his ass."

Added to all that, still nothing about all this on the official thread, except "nothing new to post yet"

If you wanted to get rid of bagholders, snap up some v.cheap coins, any or all of the above would be ways of doing it.

I was dissapointed when I first heard this news, now I'm starting to get pissed.
