Hi, I've done this;

$ devcoind -seednode=seed01.devcoin.org -seednode=seed02.devcoin.org
seednode=seed01.devcoin.org
seednode=seed02.devcoin.org
seednode=seed03.devcoin.org
seednode=seed04.devcoin.org

separately and together in notepad and saved as Devcoin.conf

still no joy " failed to connect best block "

any help thanks

You don't need to run devcoind on windows. rather keep with the Devcoin.conf file.

Also, perhaps you have old receivers files. Try this:

0. Close your Devcoin wallet application
1. Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Devcoin
2. Delete the folders "receiver" and "chainstate"
3. Start your Devcoin wallet

Hi thanks ,
the windows 8.1 laptop install was new, on my wifes machine .
She's not keen on windows 10.

Are there any other ways to get it to sync?

Please try this method.

0. Close your Devcoin wallet application

1. Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Devcoin

2. In the configuration file devcoin.conf, add the following:

Code:
seednode=seed01.devcoin.org
seednode=seed02.devcoin.org
seednode=seed03.devcoin.org
seednode=seed04.devcoin.org

You can create the file devcoin.conf if it doesn't exists.

3. Start your Devcoin wallet application

Agreed though one reason could be there are no stores accepting dvc because there is no exchange to buy and sell dvc. But they are taking a risk with each coin listing that it could be a scam or worse and damage the exchange itself.  I have seen it in the past where a coins foundation offer an online shop with token items (coffee mugs, hats, stickers etc all with the crypto logo on it and purchase can be done in btc and the crypto thus offering a place to spend. Is there anything stopping dvc setting up and offering such a shop? It was done in the past as an incentive to mine the coins and give you something physical for the electricity bill and speculation for the miner but has more value now as a sign of the community and support behind the coin in the eyes of exchanges and the public.

@FuzzyBear, I though I've been clear but here we go again:

1. "there is no exchange to buy and sell dvc" FALSE. We have Freiexchange to BUY, and Stellar DEX to BUY and SELL. See: https://www.devcoin.org/get-devcoin.html (Click "Buy Devcoins"). There are DVC pairs against BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, USD and plenty of Galactic Milieu tokens
2. "Is there anything stopping dvc setting up and offering such a shop?" NO. DVC tokens on stellar platform are e-commerce enabled. See shopify stellar integration: https://stellarpay.io/documentation/shopify/shopify-xlm-integration/
3. Devcoin is not just a Bitcoin fork any longer. Everybody, please, get up to date on what you can do with Stellar and DVC tokens

Last but not least, DVC tokens are getting more and more trading volume on our current exchanges: Stellar DEX and Freeiexchange. Market makers are welcome to join the party. Later you can't tell me I didn't let you know early!

That is Devcoin's whitepaper in a very old-style wiki fashion, yet it defines Devcoin very well.

We could also do with a page on the devcoin.org site of the "Team" and their roles etc.

https://www.devtome.com/devcoin_human_resources

And this is our new facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/devcoin

P.S: If the admin of the old facebok page is around, please contact me. We need to merge!

Got the feedback from altilly today as to why is was delisted in 2019.

Was told someone from DVC team can put in an official request for it to be listed on altilly and follow their usual listing process. (has been over a year since de-listing) thus could not strike a deal to get them to relist for free.

INFO FROM ALTILLY:

That is great @FuzzyBear! I managed to contact Altilly as well, via support ticket, then via Telegram. After a month we have finally got  Charles Naughton to visit our Telegram channel: https://t.me/Devcoins, this is the conversation:

We consider BCT  more of an announcement portal but ill check it out.  I have no way to gauge how big your community is on BCT

Just seen you shared feedback with FuzzyBear. If you visit the website: devcoin.org, you can find up to date info regarding our community channels, wallets, block explorers and exchanges

The last couple months I updated devcoin.org, so it is now in sync with current information. Also, devtome got a new look and feel. Additionally, I'm always in contact with Coingecko to keep our profile updated: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/devcoin

As you can see, not just my spare efforts, but joint interest and work from the community is finally paying off. Just keep moving on guys!

Devcoin could probably get listed for free on Fides Exchange. Lots of dead shitcoins have got that deal.

It would be mutual beneficial for both. Fides gets new customers and promotion through devcoin twitter/bitcointalk/medium channels. And devcoin gets a new ltc/dvc market pair.

https://fidesexchange.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/47001120148-listing-request-form

It's been 9 years to the day since Block 0. It's hardly a dead shitcoin. Maybe just undervalued abstract coin.

Agree. But if they list dead shitcoins they should definitely list devcoin.  Smiley

Don't you want to buy some more cheap coins in a ltc/dvc market?

(Someone who got all the info they need have to fill out the application.)

@shtako, thanks for letting us know about Fides. Let me wear my Investor Administrator hat for a sec:

1. The listing request form is currently found here
2. Listing Fee is 0.25 BTC
3. BTC/BTC Fork – Must comply with Bitcoin Core API > 0.10 (Devcoin is 0.8 )
4. Principle/Developer [...] must be available and reply to any queries from the exchange within 24 hours

I think that this is a good candidate but we need to do some homework before. Also, I think that exchanges supporting XLM tokens are better suited for Devcoin right now, because we don't need to do any software update and all technical issues are already handled by the people running the Stellar network.

Last but not least, we are already listed on Freiexchange with the BTC/DVC pair. Freiexchange has zero fees for trading, they only charge very reasonable fees for withdrawals. Also, the DVC token is getting more and more trading volume in the Stellar DEX: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5, where we can trade for ETH, LTC, XRP, XLM, CENTUS, TFC, IXC and a wealth of Galactic Millieu tokens! We could add more exchanges, but the more I talk with exchanges, the more I tend to think that it is better strategy to first heat up our existing markets.

A representative from WhiteBIT is offering a flexible cooperation in order to help us list Devcoin in their platform.

This is the concrete offer in their own language:

From Eugene | WhiteBIT.com:

If the problem with the budget.

What are you current budgets? Maybe we can work according it right now.

And after we will be able to reach our goals we can increase your budget and marketing activities

I asked them to kindly provide us with some numbers so that we can have an idea of budget. Gathering funds for the minimum budget would be a goal. Btw, I'm still very cautious about listing Devcoin on third party exchanges, since we had way too much bad experiences in the past.

For the reasons above, I ask for your help, all information about WhiteBIT that you can contribute here will be greatly appreciated.

I'll do some reading into this exchange. I've never heard of them before now but with so many exchanges popping up, that doesn't really mean much. I'm looking forward to seeing how much they want in terms of budget, as I think that will help make a more informed decision (a lot of their coins are very low volume right now).

We have got an specific proposal from WhiteBIT, for a budget of 2 BTC:

Quote
From Eugene | WhiteBIT.com:

TRADING PAIRS & LIQUIDITY:
⁃ 3 trading pairs of choice
   Crypto: BTC, ETH
   Stable: USDT, TUSD, USDC, PAX
   Fiat: USD, EUR, RUB, UAH
⁃ Zero-fee accounts for 3-months

MARKETING & PR
- Announcements on our social media;
- Targeted email campaign (for the entire duration of the marketing activities);
- Banner on the main page (14 days);
- Remarketing for 1,5 million unique users;
Upon Request:
- Digital Marketing in Cointelegraph, Forbes, Bloomberg, CoinDesk, Hackernoon, Investing.com, etc;
- Separate full articles and brand mentions in Media (bitcoin.news, themerkle.com, etc);

ACTIVITIES:
-Lower fee trading for the community (for 2 weeks after the listing);
- SMART Staking plan (https://whitebit.com/smart-staking);
- AMA-session in WhiteBIT’s telegram community;
- Trading competition on whitebit.com;

SUPPORT & CONSULTANCY:
- Personal account manager for you;
- 24/7 Support for your community;
- Listing on Tier 1 and Tier 2 exchanges.

The listing fee for all the above-mentioned services is 2 BTC.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Devcoin Foundation investment agreement on the Galactic Milieu on: July 05, 2020, 09:36:36 PM
I'm pleased to announce that today the Devcoin Foundation (DF) went to a happy agreement with @knotwork (MarkM) for investing on the Galactic Milieu.

For the record, we had a public discussion regarding what is the best use for the Devcoin coins being accumulated in the OpenSource Fund, Exchange Fund and friends. The chosen proposal is to invest the funds, rather than just holding, "burning" coins, or destroying tokens. The new strategy is to keep sell orders just high enough to influence an up trend market demand for DVC tokens on the Stellar DEX. Also, we are releasing new tokens on-demand, not at fixed amounts on schedule as the Devcoin blockchain does. All with the beauty of transparency! You can now track offers, buys, sells and other DF operations on stellar platform.

This is the actual deal with MarkM:

The DF buys 48223405.9792109 Devcoin stellar tokens (DVC tokens) and 14 General Financial Corp shares (GFC in HORIZON), all for 100'000'000.00 (100 million) Devcoin coins (DVC coins) plus 1664.00 DVC coins in transaction fees. Paid with Devcoin coins from the Exchange Fund.

NOTE: MarkM increased total supply of DVC tokens from 100 million to 150 million.

- Stellar blockchain operations:  130857916818341889 and 130858415034560513
- Horizon blockchain transactions: (pending)

The challenge now is to heat up the Stellar DEX with decent trading volume! Something we can only achieve as a community, as a team.

75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / New language: Devcoin token vs. Devcoin coins on: June 28, 2020, 06:15:04 PM
Just to have definitions documented somewhere and for later reference:

1. Devcoin token: An asset issued by @knotwork on the Stellar platform: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg35842820#msg35842820
2. Devcoin coin: The original Devcoin, fork of Bitcoin with own blockchain and wallet
3. Devcoin tokens are backed 1:1 by Devcoin coins: https://peakd.com/devcoin/@satoshi0x/how-to-buy-sell-dvc-using-stellar
4. "Burning" coins (note the quotes), as inherited from Bitcoin, there is no way to really burn Devcoin coins, there are only workarounds: https://medium.com/@alcio/how-to-destroy-bitcoins-255bb6f2142e
5. Strategy for releasing Devcoin tokens:
Asset scarcity. Devcoin has already released a huge amount of coins that we can hardly control scarcity at this point. For that reason it is good to create a new asset like the coins, that we can manage better with all the hard learned lessons that came failure after failure. In short, I stay with the idea of releasing new Devcoin tokens bit by bit, rather than releasing millions of them at once or letting things in auto-mode.

76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 28, 2020, 04:10:29 PM

Does this mean DVC now has a cap of 100m and existing coins should be burned, or how does it work in terms of getting our existing tokens on to the Stellar network?

@ranlo, I already answered your question before.

I'm a bit confused about something in this proposal: what happens with coins that already exist? I know there's fear about whales having a lot of coins but keep in mind that some of us spent YEARS helping build the site, contributing, and spending countless hours on administration work. On top of that, some of us that spent the majority of our time working on the project have still sold exactly ZERO Devcoins. So while I get the fear aspect, it's important to remember that some of us believed in the old project so much that even as it tanked we held tight (and accumulated more coins on the market), rather than trying to cash out. Anything that would push coins out of whales' wallets is only a punch in the face to those who relentlessly worked to help the project and took zero remuneration due to wanting to see it succeed.

Yeah, don't forget that I'm on the same boat. Just to make things clear, in my proposal I'm talking about money not in your pocket: newly generated coins & coins in the OpenSourceFund+friends. I'm not proposing anything for existing coins that aren't controlled by the Devcoin Foundation, yet.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Building up Devcoin buy side with our STEEM/HIVE POWER as a community on: June 26, 2020, 03:45:36 AM
Hey there!

We have been waiting for the STEEM/HIVE situation to settle for some time but I still did some work to explore investment opportunities for the Devcoin Foundation (DF). As a reminder, we have the DevSTEEM project receiving ongoing shares since round 83 (25 rounds or ~2 years). Let's see what we have so far:

DevSTEEM assets

We have two @devcoin and @devtome accounts owned by the DF and the cooperation of @dropahead in both STEEM and HIVE. In other words, we have 6 accounts to help us raise funds. DF's STEEM & HIVE accounts have a net worth of $380 USD as of today May 25th, 2020.

There are other kind of assets. The 6 accounts sum up ~6500 followers and dropahead is contributing 400 subscribers that can trigger 20k STEEM POWER and 20k HIVE POWER of upvotes. This time the numbers seem bigger but they can only generate up to $0.30 USD per post and we can only have dropahead help about 1 or 2 times per day.

Building up Devcoin buy side in the markets

At end of day, the DF should buy Devcoins in the markets (whether via Stellar tokens or Freiexchange). So we still have the opportunity to generate income for the DF. What can we do as a community?

Collaborating with the DF by writing!

There is a functionality in steempeak.com (STEEM) and peakd.com (HIVE) that allows to split generated earnings from a post or comment. The button: "Add benefiaries" brings a pop up where one can type the username: devcoin and hit the + button to set the % to contribute. The deal is that @dropahead will release a generous amount of upvotes to posts/comments with "devcoin" as beneficiary, as long as the share is 50% or more for @devcoin. I'll setup some automation for this process but we should start somewhere, so you claim your free upvotes here: https://discord.io/devcoin. I recommend you to add the tag "devcoin" to your posts so that we can find it faster.

As an example, I'm posting this same writing to my personal STEEM & HIVE accounts (find me as @develcuy).

"Community" feature in STEEM & HIVE

Someone said somewhere: "If I only would get paid a cent for every forum post of my own..." OK you can now make it for real. STEEM & HIVE have a "community" feature, that works similar to forums, with the added functionality of content curation and monetization. I kindly invite you there to continue our discussions about Devcoin:
