61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: October 24, 2016, 03:26:46 PM
Saw some wise words expressed on Youtube (A rarity, these days) but sums up my sentiment on the future of crypto and blockchain technology:

Quote from: ShadyParadox
Bitcoin qualifies (or attempts to qualify, if you're skeptical) as a money due to its finite supply. But it was not designed to beat gold as a money, it was designed to beat paper as a currency! And that's exactly what we need if we're ever going to escape the historical cycle of gold, gold standard, paper fiat, hyperinflationary collapse, back to gold, rinse and repeat.

With Bitcoin, you can send funds to someone halfway around the world in under ten minutes, with no need for third parties. With government fiat, a wire transfer between banks might take 3-5 business days, minus hefty transaction fees. With all the recent regulatory clamping down on travel, a gold bar may never get there. So while fiat beats gold in this category, Bitcoin beats fiat. The ramifications of this advantage alone could prove to be huge.

Other properties worthy of mention are divisibility and recognizability. Precious metals are certainly divisible, but picking out exact change in coins is kind of a nuisance compared to today's credit system, where a swipe of a card always deals the exact amount. Meanwhile, a Bitcoin transfer holds precision up to 8 decimal places, without hampering the feasibility of the transfer. So in this sense, I'd say Bitcoin is in a tie with fiat and has an edge over metals. Recognizability (resistance to counterfeit) also favors Bitcoin. While there certainly are tests that can be performed to authenticate precious metals, it's impractical to perform this confirmation with every transaction. Government currencies have all those fancy watermarks and whatnot; I don't know how well they resist counterfeiting but at least it's an easy check to perform. But Bitcoin transactions are confirmed multiple times all throughout the network and are therefore impossible to counterfeit. And you can't mix copper or tungsten with a Bitcoin! So while I can't say whether gold beats fiat in this category, Bitcoin certainly does.

I understand why he and many other gold and silver advocates tend to be skeptical of Bitcoin. On the surface, a recent invention seems to bear no resemblance to a commodity that has withstood the test of time, and the current fluctuating price hardly indicates a store of value. But the philosophy behind the invention was a recognition of two things: 1) a sound money must be in finite supply, and 2) the only way to beat fiat is to outperform it as a currency.

I posted this in NEM because i think Bitcoin does have it's own flaws - largely it's PoW algorithm which in the end, centralizes mining power in the hands of those corporations or rich individuals who can then control the majority of mining power -- essentially making them the banks of bitcoin like banks in the FIAT sphere -- this can make or break bitcoin in my honest opinion. NEM is a good step at circumventing this problem.

Fair distribution, 100% new code.  Wink

Dumping my REP For more XEM, brb.

Dont worry, we have been flying under the radar for quite some time. Wont be long before news snowballs.

Do you just hope, or you got some kind of evidence (about flying under radar, I mean) ? You're right with "wont be long before news snowballs", e.g. new info about Catapult development is really exciting! But see the "market reaction" - almost zero. Marketcap is still slowly decreasing and 24h volume is falling down to the ridiculously small values. Of course I understand the "HODL effect" in PoS/PoI based coins (in contrast of PoW and their daily mining activity), but still - where are the thousands of new buyers, desiring to have a new superior coin? ;-) Surely I hope (and we all hope, I guess) it's just a calm before a storm.

I remember this very same discussion back during 30 sats.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 02, 2016, 01:33:57 PM
I told everyone long back this shit is going to 500 sats soon.

Not sure how many listened..Calles this at 2250 sats

You wrote this as it headed to 800 sats.

It's now going past 950.

For those of us who had faith from the start, we bought in at 030-100. So we're happy.

Me? I got in even earlier than that Smiley.

Anyone else got the impression that the price of XEM is currently being controlled by bots to stay around 1000 satoshi? I see these 10-20 BTC buy/sell 'walls' moving up and down and there's a few hundred BTC of volume on Polo per day but nothing really happens.

Of course. In fact all crypto's are.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 20, 2016, 11:26:00 PM
Please keep the requests to add XEM to margin trading and lending coming into Poloniex. Use this form--it only takes 30 seconds: https://poloniex.com/featureRequest

Lending will provide another way to fairly safely accumulate XEM. Or... if you're good at margin trading, then you can make some big profits with it.

I don't personally think that margin trading helps a coin's development at all.

margin trading brings volatility, which is bad for using nem for it's value for development (for ex. the comming Foundation)

Im sorry guys but good for trading is not good for nem.

I get your perspective, but i take the view that trading is like self-advertising and exposure, which long term is good for NEM. It is also not right to tell others what they can and cannot do with their money/investments/assets. Thats leading down the very road that crypto was attempting to liberate us from.

NEM surged from Brexit.  Turkish coup?

This comment is simply not true. What does Brexit have to do with NEM? Only miniscule part of Britain knows about NEM. And even if more people did they will invest in the more tested equities and cryptocurrencies.

More tested crypto's? Like Bitcoin?

Then from Bitcoin to NEM.

It makes sense to see both go up as a result.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 07, 2016, 09:30:30 AM
made about 23,000 nem from this bear market it's now in. Quite happy.

Quite happy to have held my XEM all this time. Smiley

I always knew this was coming, and it ain't even over yet.

Just beginning.

also i can not understand why someone buy LISk

lisk  is made by one 24 year old man what the f..... are you doing people are you serious

Because it comes with an extra special inbuilt function named GREED.

I do find it really weird that all these pieces of shit are exploding and imploding all over the place but the ICO crap automatically bakes that in.

Money talks, bullshit walks. Always has been, always will be.

Someone with the pockets is probably pulling strings to make the hype train roll.

Devs have never been very active here.

You can find them in NEM forum, Telegram or Slack

NEM was born here, but I've repeated many times, that sooner or later it'll have to grow up from the btt specunation Speculation + nation Wink.

That was a joke of me.

Finish it with a smiley, else you just seem like a fudster.

Dogecoin power comes from strong doge-community.
Strange to say, I even imagine they might found a doge-country and make dogecoin as their national currency. Wink

It's a coin with no future of which started as a novelty backed by hype, whales (looking to get rich), and sensationalist news.

As a result, it's a community of bagholders with no future, nothing more. It's going because the bagholders refuse to admit the inevitable.

You can learn more about Doge/Doge's reason for "success" (Applicable to other shitcoins) here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ur3o01yag8bcmb/god.pdf?dl=0

A small quote from this document:

Quote
While dogecoin hits 50-70 satoshis, the truth is, I did not owned 10 billion
doge, but rather a mere total of 4 billion. The amount of holdings I had were
overstated so as to aid me and mask by exit strategy in the near future.

Now, came the part of Jamaican bobsled team. It was a perfect time for
other whales and myself. We signal through buy/sell walls that we are ready
to move. It was a test pump. We wanted to see if the dogecoin community
were gullible enough to think that it was the Jamaican bobsled publicity that
have drove dogecoin prices up.
The bobsled team brought value and publicity
to dogecoin, but people are always confuse with prices and value.

The only reason i'd touch doge would be to throw wealth away -- or if i was a particularly skilled daytrader with influential whales to pull strings. Much like the guy who wrote the above PDF. In fact this is probably the only reason why Doge still goes on.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: June 13, 2016, 06:41:48 PM
I seem to recall a webpage where every article made for NEM was listed. Is that still kicking about someplace?

Xem price is very low and that is not good

Not unusual. Seen it a million times.

bitcoin goes up, alts suffer. When bitcoin stabilizes the wealth trickles down back into alts again. My belief is NEM, in due time, will be the first alt people will go to.

I think it's safe to assume that every single person on here and working in the crypto space has been convicted of theft, money laundering and child porn. I know I have.

Made my night. Thank you sir.

Got mine for near free. Bought more when it was low.

Quite a happy guy here, and yet i know it's worth more.

More news coming out ...

SJI Inc. partners with Tech Bureau to experiment with Mijin:
http://www.reuters.com/article/sji-brief-idUSL3N1862B4

Mijin being used in E-Commerce application (what other blockchain has done this?!)

http://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000046.000009812.html

somewhat garbled with the translation but very positive news!

great news!  Smiley

how on earth nem is still so cheap is beyond me.

I think people havn't yet correlated between Mijin and NEM. In a way, when the price skyrockets, it'll hit hard and fast. I quite like the not knowing Tongue.

@team. Do you have something to hide?

I have not received a reply.
- Where the criteria for removal of the stakeholders?
- When I was removed?

P.S. Sorry for all about another language. I tried to explain him on his language, that it's too late.

You see an enemy in me. You accuse me too.
No one has ever stood on my side.

However, once again I ask support and assistance to the community.

The only assistance you're working towards is a removal from this thread. You've no cause, no argument, only yourself to blame. Join the line of everyone else who made the same silly mistakes like you.

You participate in the project, disappear for years, then cry you've no coins because you failed to follow the correct procedure for redemption. Bye bye.
