RE: Nxt. How do you know you are measuring searches for Nxt crypto and not Nxt lego or Nxt wrestling? I'm reliably informed you are displaying the trend for Nxt Wrestling at the moment.. Sorry for the late reply. You brought up a very good point! We have since fixed the problem: https://i.imgur.com/Bs4uzA9.pngIt will now use the same search term that we use for our Bing stats as well. It is currently searching for "nxt coin" to see the Google Trends. You can take a look at NXT page here: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/nxtThanks for that

I read it and I replied. Let me make it bigger for you... Java ... LOL !! I trust java for some things, but not for a main financial program.
Since your taking back to the oldschool again, here is a post from a year ago.. *snip*
This quote above shows a basic lack of understanding from someone who has never been a programmer. Java is a programming language. It's Oracle's applet (a web browser plugin) that has security issues. It's much easier to write secure software in Java than in C. There is also OPenJDK which is free and open source.
Java remains the most popular programming language for server side. If you have ever used Amazon and Ebay, the server side was run by Java. Almost all banks use Java on server side. So you already use Java as a client everyday.
NRS is a server application (it's not a web browser applet with security problems). The client side can be written in any programming language.
You'll notice Oracle features heavily in your... research article.. *snigger* ... Anything else?

Wow! I didn't know about these! +1440 to MRCluster87

Bump Anyone else anything to add? (though Kushti has been busy so will still chip in, I'd bet)

As I write this, Nxt has:
Encrypted messaging Torrent/file sharing app (working title Decentralized ebay (nxtfreemarket) Decentralized DNS (hyperboria)
Was there anything else you needed for your project? There are a lot of friendly devs on nxtforum.org who might help you, if they like your idea
BUMP

Nxt, kind of makes me think of this... trying to make you feel safe, all the while you're being infected through java vulnerabilities ! https://i.imgur.com/CI7r29D.pngWhy not have a conversation instead of trying to create a narrative? Reminds me of someone I know from this forum.... How is Java unsafe? Read the posts above perhaps before posting another meme? Nah, that would be too easy

Also... Indeed Java is better for financial apps as it's easier to write safer code. No pointers to arbitrarily access memory, no buffer overruns, bound checking, etc. C++ is is better choice for apps that require faster start up and native integration.
Faster start up is totaly irrelevant for server apps that start once and run for weeks/months without shutting down. Native integration is not needed either. Funny to watch Exo having difficulty releasing linux version. Had he used Java instead, it would have been platform independent. There is absolutely no reason to write crypto (server side) in C++. It's a bad choice for the job.
It's fine to write crypto clients in C++, and indeed anyone can write Nxt client in C++ for Windows. The client interacts with server (written i Java) . On the client side faster start up and native integration with GUI would be more desirable.

Lets remember history for a moment. NXT was all mined, approximately 1,000,000,000 tokens, instantly. They were then given to forum members deemed most influential or a friend of the developers, 50 people got ALL THE COINS instantly. There is very little in liquidity, creating a false illusion of wealth, try to sell 500,000 NXT on cryptsy and see what happens to that price! On the other hand you could sell that much of Litecoin and the market for Litecoin would NOT hiccup!
NXT should be rightfully called out as the biggest insta-mine scam in the history of alt-coins. It is written in JAVA. It was kept CLOSED SOURCE to hide major flaws and security issues. They keep promising features that then do not appear and claim features that do not really work. Have you tried to use their asset exchange? Not really functioning. Should be renamed SHT or SCM. --edit-- Since Come-from-Beyond boycotts Bitcointalk for censoring his posts in important discussions, enjoy.... I've not seen a thead this contrived and vehement in a while Anyone interested in the truth can read it blow by blow in the original announcement thread here >>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.0Then come back and we can play spot the difference with the OP *yawn* But the best bit about repeating stale assertions is that you don't have to type much, just copy and paste

Seriously, whoever trusts java for holding money should have their head examined.
That's enough right there to show its a scam.
Again... Since your taking back to the oldschool again, here is a post from a year ago.. 3> Java
Probably the worst. Java is considered bad by many developers. Java is trying to install a shitty toolbar every time you install it or update and it is so insecure. No open source programmer would ever use it. Many people don't like Java and they will never add it (I believe it's why mcxnow never added it because it's JAVA client). C/C++ are languages of choice of the industry. A C++ client should be developped to become something “professional and credible”.

Proof of Work is the only known rock solid consensus mechanism that does not require external "fiddling" such as checkpoints, oracles, etc. I wouldn¡'t touch PoS with a stick. If QT is too heave, get Electrum.
Which POS?
|
|
|
what is pay expo about anyways?
It is an event for payment processors in the financial world, rather than crypto coins and the crypto world. So Nxt being there is good exposure for Nxt and crypto in the 'old' banking world.
|
|
|
NXT is fine, but my main problem with Proof of Stake is where the coins come from in the first place.
With Bitcoin, we can tell everyone that nobody printed this money out of nothing, nobody just made up fake money and then sold it for real money. Proof of work means the coins are generated and earned with work, so the cost of the work gives the coins value
How so?
|
|
|
the amount of NXT pushers on this forum is over 9000 There is a reason Strange not to see Nxt in the comparison, if the OP had had a good look around. I'm trying to decide which asset protocol I should implement for a coin and wondering what the community thinks of each and how they interact with PoS.
Thoughts?
What are your requirements for the coin? Is it just you need a decentralised register of owners or something more? Bump.

I pointed Kushti here, one of the authors of the work. I'll keep watching
|
|
|
Kushti, I came across a guy looking and thinking deeply about POS. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1082139.msg11547314#msg11547314It opens... Multiple Voting in POS Cannot be Detected and It Weakens Security
... I made him aware of your work but he seems serious and open minded so maybe you two can help each other to keep pushing the boundaries.

How many confirmations does NXT need for a transaction to fully confirm? I sent some over 12 hours ago and it now has 528 confirmations, yet still doesn't show as fully confirmed. It doesn't seem viable for a currency for this to be normal. Is the network malfunctioning?
Are you running NRS v1.5.x? Can you post the transaction ID (or PM it me)?

If anyone wants to make some screencast walkthroughs (not just you Jones ) using this, showcasing the numerous features in Nxt, then please go for it
