61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] First 500Gh/s BFL unit up and running! on: July 10, 2013, 03:30:33 PM
giga, have you received eight 500GH units so far?  Do they all actually run ~480GH?

Yes. Some run ~475Gh/s others at ~480Gh/s.

Super jealous..

DHL reuses waybills all the time. I had to pick through 5 on my last avalon order.
64  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 03, 2013, 12:43:18 PM
Has anyone got any experience in using EMS?

Both of my units are shipping via EMS now wtf
EMS gets shipped via USPS once in the US. Start praying... Tongue

Once EMS hits the US and is past customs itll be at your door before the tracking number updates it out of customs.

Customs can be 5 minutes or 2 week long black hole.
65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 02, 2013, 07:29:47 PM
Got the last of my tracking numbers today too!
66  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 01, 2013, 01:56:55 PM
I still have a 2 unit batch 2 order that I haven't received ( anything about ) yet.

I doubt TC has the pocketbook to fight the state. Fighting corporations or debt is one thing. Fighting the people who can make the rules and change them on a whim is something else entirely.
68  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Tangible Cryptography suspends Bitcoin related transactions on: June 19, 2013, 11:20:39 PM
I think it's unlikely that you will get a response at all, unless its a knock on the door by a swat team.
69  Economy / Economics / Re: Capital Gains & Other Income on: June 12, 2013, 02:36:21 AM
If you think the purchasing power of Bitcoins will go up substantially and you are worried about paying capital gains tax then just purchase them by mailing cash in an envelope. Keep them for a few years and then see what happens. If Bitcoin catches on most people will accept them as payment and therefore it won't be necessary to convert them back to fiat and be taxable. Because you paid cash you are anonymous and there's no way for anyone to know how much the value appreciated.

So how should I deal with taxes if I did buy them on an exchange and the spent them after they gained value?

File taxes and report your gain. Have you CPA or attorney compute your basis and gains. B sure to keep a log of everything relating to your business. All expenses are deductible, as are your losses.

Willing to take cashier's check if you must pay in fiat.

Ken;
Zhang always say they should be left horizontal not vertical.
congrats.    I should be posting my arrival pics right after santa claus drops them off....

I really think it takes big balls for Yifu to be upset that someone woke him up when he basically had the power to stop it himself by providing updates in a timely manner after he knew the information in his last update was WRONG.    Take some responsibility on why all these people are "bothering" you, it is because you are LATE and have been completely unresponsive, NOT because the people are "assholes" to interupt your slumber.

I will be furious if the chips ship before the batch IIIs

Batch 2 is much better than batch 1. They are shipping, there are notifications and tracking numbers. That's all we asked for.
72  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: June 08, 2013, 01:36:00 PM
I could do this. I work for a university, have access to everything needed.

/full disclosure though, I'm super busy now that its summer and wouldn't be able to work on it super fast full time. And im moving soon.
73  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Tangible Cryptography suspends Bitcoin related transactions on: June 07, 2013, 01:53:56 PM
OK, total newb here, but the U.S. IS the land of suit/countersuit. Couldn't Tangible Cryptography take steps to protect itself and any investors by seeking legal redress from the Commonwealth of Virginia for any loss or possible loss of income due to interference with its business on the basis of such a vague charge? Go on the offensive! Fight back! (grin)

Simple answer is no.  The notice from the commonwealth only indicates we "may" be engaged unlicensed money transmission.  There is only a demand to cease "if" we are engaged in activity which requires licensure.  However it is prudent for us to stop at this time until we have clarity on the position of the government.  At this point it is our intent to avoid an adversarial situation which likely will be costly and time consuming and instead open a dialog with the commission as Bitcoin is an emergent technology and based on the letter we believe they have some significant misunderstandings on how this technology works.

wouldn't it just be easier to move to another state or jurisdiction?
74  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Filed a request for an administrative ruling with FinCEN this morning. on: June 06, 2013, 08:37:57 PM
I just laughed reading the OP.  You're causing some schmuck a whole lot of headache.  Not that I have any sympathy for these types.  How to fit a square peg in our round holes?

Its the government.. they buy a $10,000 hammer and hire 50 engineers at $150K a year to plan how to make that peg fit, and they will find a way to make it fit, if it pleases the right people. They don't care who they destroy or what laws the break or ignore to do so. They will just hind behind immunity and most people not having the wealth to fight them.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, are there ANY US Compliant Money Processors? on: June 06, 2013, 08:32:14 PM
I think the problem is the laws right now are so vague that there's no real way to know if you are fully compliant or not.

Politicians can't even figure out what rape is or manage to keep the budget in check and not run the economy out of gas even though the fuel light has been flashing and dinging for 6 months.

You think they can understand bitcoin? LOL.
76  Economy / Digital goods / Re: **FREE** Microsoft Office 2007 Retail Licenses **FREE** on: June 06, 2013, 04:47:46 AM
I'll take one if available.

Many thanks.
77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL creates new charity project to donate 1000 BTC to [ROFL!] on: June 06, 2013, 04:36:44 AM
I wonder if they are bothering to use old coins, or they're just throwing the new ones they made into it......

Keep in mind some of BFL Big players, ie multiple mini rigs etc are co located there and receive special treatment. That blip you see may be one or several of their prototype rigs and not BFL itself mining.

Yes you have so far avoided breaking the license by not even releasing the code coz apparently no one has rightfully requested it

So which one of their customers requested the source code?

It sounds like you admit they were not in violation of the GPLv3

Or why don't you quote the explicit, legal, text of the GPL that they supposedly violated

No, not "the spirit".  The literal text.  There's a world of difference between "violating a license" and "doing something I don't like"
So ... where did I say they violated the license?

One of my points was that they advertised on their site since the beginning of the year, promoting it being OpenSource.
Yet when they released the Avalon, they hid the modified cgminer source code for a month.

after having *attempted* working with them and con developing I doubt they actually intentionally hid it. I don't think they had access to it. I'm not quite sure how much communication occurs inside team avalon, but it must not be much or very effective.
79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: In which Mem trolls Kano and kano predictably bursts into flames on: May 31, 2013, 08:39:00 PM
Kano has helped significantly with the Avalon firmware development. Even if he claims he hasn't. Con's doing the typing and work. Kano is there to dig the devs out when they mess up something or hit a roadblock, or a mountain slide. He has lead me by the hand through crap I didn't understand.

Avalons dev team, is well non existent except for xiangfu. 99% of the work has been poke an avalon watch it react and go from there. Kano is the man for poking things and getting reactions. He knows his stuff Tongue

vicus is the first lucky guy from this thread!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211593
He deserved it with his former crying boy avatar Smiley

So much for the theory that Yifu holds grudges.

I'll believe that when I see one go out for Kano Cheesy
