Can anyone walk me through the xchat setup?  How do I generate my own address?  I'm in client and am having difficulties setting this up.  Anyone wanna test with me on mainnet?

We're almost at 200k sats!

We are just warming up.   Right now... Monero and Cloakcoin, which basically only has anon as their selling point, have a higher market cap than XC.   XC, which has anon as part of a feature of a privacy PLATFORM.   All the future developments that will include just a taster, voice and video chat, and blockchain 2.0 (think Ethereum with their huge ipo)

XC is sitting only at 6 mil market cap.  6 for all that?   Even if you value XC with the private Skype like features coming soon, that's incredibly undervalue.  Skype was sold for 6-8 bil  Even 1% of 6 bil is 60 mil....  On top of that, XC will have all that anon tech in there plus cashless ATM coming??!?  6 mil market cap?

The potential of XC is so huge, I can't even begin to really understand who wouldn't want to own some XC now at around $1 a coin.

The potential for Ethereum is so huge, the potential for Maidsafe is so huge, the potential for Bitcoin is so huge (side trees and side chains), the potential of zerocash is so huge, the potential of mintchip was so huge.

Beware, XC isn't the only thing with potential.

Also Monero has far better anonymity than XC, so you have to get people to build on your platform even though the anonymous abilities are not the best in the world.

Remember, getting anothers perspective is always advised.

huge potential IPO of ethereum and maidsafe makes fundraisers retired and investors waiting in vain.

same story as Mastercoin.

XC holders are aware of challenges, traps, scams out there. i mean most of us.

Well good luck, on the topic of IPO's, I really hope that they come to an end. I am 99% certain you'll be able to buy Ethereum for way less than IPO once the free market kicks in for even large amounts of Bitcoin.

The IPO scene is really bringing down the entire community. I think their IPO will be a stain on Ethereum's name for years to come.

Agreed about IPOs and I hope they come to an end too but I dont think it'll happen anytime soon.

IPO is one way to put it.  You and I get that sort of 'presale' model in this world.  But for the rest of the world, this is 'crowd funding through digital currency'.  They do actually offer something to this space that hasn't been the focus of any other entity, other than Ripple.  Reading up on the new Stellar also.  Great stuff in this space.  Fringe tech, and that's always a good place to be.

I think for the platform... it's potential (like almost everything else 'we' speculate in) is huge.  They'll get 1 coin from me for their presale. I'm biting.   Plus, need some to play on their platform.

I saw someone mention that the new wallet will be released tomorrow, but I also heard it should be expected some time next week.  Can anyone confirm?

Yes tomorrow night will be an updated wallet release that has both XChat and Private Transactions.  Next week will be the updated TOR_STICK Image release

Dan

Dan, will this release have the port workaround (for lack of a better description) ?

You could build smart contracts for the side props.   As for the api being centralized. .. knowing Dan and teams style, they'd probably make the wallets themselves as entry points for the actual api handles.

Sounds like you know how to make this technically possible.. interested in discussing this further? Or will the team try to build this in the mobile wallet?

Been looking at Ethereum smart contract code, which could be used if the same wasn't available on the XC blockchain itself.  For a side prop setup, apps could reach a voting consensus with the master app (one of the phones designated, each of the apps have this capability) which would have the contract control.  Side props would be loaded as contracts through master app and voted on for consensus.

Horse racing would be an incredibly easy smart contract implementation as they have all the infrastructure and feeds already setup.

TLDR: Yes, interested in discussing this.

Lets add this to the drawing board :-)

Heck yeah!

If someone wants to buy some poker books.. PM (just kidding, not going to sell those pearls those are worth more to me then my stack of XCurrency)

So who has the capabilities to code a android/iOS app that can be used for sidebets? We could have some pre-made bets and a custom section.

- Some sort of wallet?
- Multiple entry's
- Money gets set aside on the betters phone and winnings can only be claimed with sigs from all other betters
- etc
- etc

I will make a forumpost on xctalk for this today

8btc dump from somebody...

back to 150k Cry

Good to get rid of these people... Why you would sell now is beyond me. Must be desperate for the money.

precision landing
My order get filed @ 150k
looks like a cup with a handle pattern Smiley all in now
Xc will rocket
It would be nice to have XC in one of these new smartwatches voip, xchat ,and xc - payment all in my smartwatch
This is future

With an Android base app, this is not difficult.  Been looking over the new stuff for watches/glass - pretty easy to port your stuff over to those as they tether to the phone and hence the app.

Hey I've been away away from my pc for long time and the latest version I was running of xc wallet was 1.45 I guess. Now I've had downloaded 2.45 latest version, dragged my data.dat backup file into appdata - xcurrency folder, opened it and now it's synchronisizing, but still no xc amount, transaction history, nothing. Then how I should get my xc back? It is avaliable on the older xc wallet.

Definitely need to move your wallet.dat, not data.dat.
Oh, it must be called wallet.dat ? Thanks, I will try to rename it.

NO.  MOVE the wallet.dat from the old x11coin directory to the new xcurrency directory under your roaming folder.
I would rather say COPY the wallet.dat from the......

Yes.  Copy better.

Dan, consider, from a business perspective, if these calls and video calls do take bandwith on the networks, perhaps consider a charge fee for their usage?  XC used as tokens within the app and rewarded to the relaying nodes.   Drive up demand for XC.

Yes this is being considered.

Roger that.  Putting on spacesuit.

I should be more clear, as considered doesn't really imply that it is a key part of the vision, which it is.  This is what XNode is all about

Tweet THAT @xcurrency.

Is it going to be based on XMPP or custom protocols?
What about delays and jitter which would be enormous in multihop P2P and likely leading to unsatisfactory call quality?

From Dan's Linked in page:  https://www.linkedin.com/pub/dan-metcalf/12/1a8/b82

I think he knows what he's doing.   Grin

Yep, but that's slightly different thing. Large scale wireless without packet loss is great, but P2P for voice is pretty much different as you deal with peers who could have bad Internet connections, introducing high delays and jitter. It is likely that voice call would be routed via multiple peers for increased security causing delays and jitter multiplication which is killing for real-time apps like voice/video calls.

pushing VoIP over multi-path wireless is very similar [in some ways] as RF conditions on a moving vessel change constantly, thus that "path" could go from steady to unsteady in milliseconds.

There are numerous variables at play and a "dial up" user isn't going to be able to do video with XChat as there will be certain bandwidth requirements.

I do have extensive experience with voice/video over a wide-range of network topologies [wired, wireless and satellite] and appreciate the challenges this task will face.  Part of it comes down the codec's used as well.

Excellent Update Grin

I assume the XChat will remain stand-alone for now until REV2.5? Or will it be inside the app?

Yes XChat and privacy mode transactions will be merged in Rev 2.5.

Awesome, that's what I was thinking.

Please, please put a utility on that to run updates on wallet releases...

Nice work.

I always chuckle when people say they believe in a coin and have a long-term vision yet focus too heavily on trading it to lower their basis. Nothing wrong with doing that and more power to the traders that pull it off, but don't for one second think you are helping the coin by "hoping" for a pullback in price to buy back your position. If you were truly long-term, the short-term price action would be of no consequence to you and further, you would want to see price rise, versus fall.

he clearly said that he needed to liquidate, probably also because he needed money to make his amazing gift to the XC community.
Luckily it happened that he was able to get back in at a lower price, if I may add, karma at its finest  Cheesy

apart from this case, I agree with you...I got involved in XC simply as a trader, but eventually remained for what this great project is and will be

I initially entered crypto as a trader, albeit a bad one. This is one of the only alts I see having a bright future as we have an excellent team and community. I live a very modest life and had to sell my XC plus some in order to pay for the domain name. It was difficult negotiating as there were other offers on the table and I wanted to expedite the process; pookie was also trying to purchase the domain name...I for one didn't want him to own it. You can check his previous posts if you question how I know that. As olloman said, karma allowed me to buy back in at 140k, I would've paid more if I had to.

Perhaps the community would chip in and compensate you for it to get it into Dan's hands?  It's a nice domain with the exact product branding... it would definitely lead to some product confusion down the line.  I pledge 300 XC for this initiative if anyone else is interested and you'd reveal the full cost (with proof of course) so we'd have a fund raising goal.

If interested, please don't reveal full cost yet.  Let's gauge community interest first.

It has been determined that this will be the last shift for this beta. The pool will be taken down for important works to be carried out on the front and backend. We would like to thank you for your support during the beta test and hope to see you again soon when we're fully operational.

I got my miners pointed back at CK.  I'll be back when the multipool is fully launched.

Now back to this Edigicash awesomeness.

There'll be a new version of the EM app coming out before long.

The word is that it will feature a "Skype-like" messaging interface, with a list of users on the left.

Nice,
- are the messages stored in the blockchain?
- can you chat if you're behind a firewall or nat and can't do port forwarding?

- Messages go through the end-to-end encrypted P2P tunnelling built into the core of the Xnode right back in Rev 1.

- Basically where Bitcoin has a broadcasting system, XC has the encrypted Xnode protocol.

- This means that your messages don't get preserved for perpetuity in a blockchain (which would be a terrible idea for private messaging :-)

- Technical details re. firewalls, NAT, etc. will become available upon the release.

Will the messaging require XC coin to be held to use?  Like a token... Therefore increasing demand for the currency?  Not a pay to use system but rather a proof that you hold xc?

If you all had half a brain...

Your approach is just awful.  Let me rephrase it for you and how that would work better for your audience.

Pookielax:
"Hey check this out:  http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/ - they complain about BTC anonymity and not trusting Darkmarket mixers.  This could be a marketing opportunity for your product, if that's something you're comfortable with being associated with."

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 17, 2014, 02:27:18 PM
Hi, I am considering buying some XC but have not followed the coin in quite a while. Could somebody please brief me what is the benefit of owning an xnode? Thanks a lot!

Hey hey.

XC is the leading technology for private transactions.

Testing has shown no link on the blockchain between sender and receiver on XC's Rev. 1.5 app: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.msg7310485#msg7310485

The Rev 2.0 app incorporates a world-first: trustless decentralised mixing. Henceforth, transactions can be forwarded by a node without needing to trust the node.

There will be substantial bounties offered in the near future for anyone who can provably break XC's anonymity.

XC recently added some world-class people to its team, and these people are using their real names and putting their reputations on the line: http://www.xc-official.com/the-xc-team/

XC is completely decentralised and not semi-centralised like some competing anon projects.

XC makes its code available to the public on a delayed timeline.

Hi, mate. Thanks for that information but it does not really answer my question. What I wanted to know was if the xnodes were getting paid for processing transactions in any way?

Yes.

Looks like it was just a log clean up and updated timer. Nothing update worthy.

But still enough to show work is being done and Dan isn't down the pub getting smashed or something ay. lol

Ver 2.45 now online : http://downloads.xc-official.com/release/windows/

changelog: - Updated Code for Private Transaction Times

Man those guys work quick!
