61  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Introducing: Bitcoin Syndicate, a new mining op trading publicly! on: January 31, 2013, 05:25:53 PM
So, I'm understanding it right? Do you have the miners turned off?
62  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitcorp Mining Company - BTCMC 60+ GH/s, clear ASIC upgrade path. on: January 07, 2013, 03:32:49 PM
What was the total float of shares?
63  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: December 23, 2012, 04:12:30 PM
i have a bitcoind that has 800 connections

This may be the cause of your DOA. It was already said here, but you shouldn't have that many connections on your bitcoind. The network code for bitcoin isn't yet optimized and with that many connections you're effectively harming yourself and the network as a whole...
64  Economy / Securities / Re: [Homeless] ::GREEN:: GreenBTC - Making the Bitcoin Green on: December 10, 2012, 02:22:35 PM
What about mining litecoins with the gpus? Wouldn't it be sustainable?
65  Economy / Securities / Re: F.GIGA.ETF to be delisted on December 1st, 2012. on: December 06, 2012, 08:13:29 PM
Otherwise, the situation is something like this:
a)Mircea Popescu made a pass-through of a GLBSE asset, at no cost, with no performance (which literally means, he was not going to do absolutely anything other than send the money received along to investors).

I don't agree with this a little bit. Mircea keeps claiming this, but nowhere on mpex offer there was a slight mention of glbse. Instead, the only thing there was published on the asset page on mpex was this:

Code:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

I have received 900 btc from mircea_popescu for 900 5mh/s perpetual bonds
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.17 (Darwin)
Comment: GPGTools - http://gpgtools.org

-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

So, I bought a passthrough to giga's bonds, not to glbse.
66  Economy / Securities / Re: F.GIGA.ETF to be delisted on December 1st, 2012. on: December 06, 2012, 07:40:13 PM
I may be willing to make the claim on behalf of Mircea, or whoever was his proxy. I would need to arrange the details with Mircea, but I don't mind to take in charge the bureaucratic task.

I don't think that's going anywhere.

Why not?

There's a procedure in place to claim the (pretty big) value our investment has accrued. You're refusing to follow it. I'm being supportive and understanding and I'm considering that you may have your good reasons (privacy, laziness, who knows or cares?) to act this way, and my proposal is even relieving you from that burden. I don't even want to think what motives may you have to refuse even this kind bailout I'm generously offering you.

You already have my public key. Send to me, obviously encrypted, any info I would need to make the claim and I'll take care of everything else...
67  Economy / Securities / Re: F.GIGA.ETF to be delisted on December 1st, 2012. on: December 06, 2012, 05:44:09 PM
Well  since its a passthrough MPEX would need to send all their personal info to reclaim the shares.

This is correct. I've kindly asked Mircea to reconsider and he declined.

I may be willing to make the claim on behalf of Mircea, or whoever was his proxy. I would need to arrange the details with Mircea, but I don't mind to take in charge the bureaucratic task.

Then I could receive claims from the etf holders, (preferably a signed receipt from the exchange, right after the asset wasn't trade-able any more) and I can setup a system to distribute the dividends, maybe discounting the expenses. My own claim is this:

Code:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Holdings for Ruben Dario Ponticelli (fingerprint 1BC479F968C1D01EA388673A007D7A89C6DF7B2D)
Issued today, Monday the 3rd of December 2012 at 06:50:50 PM (0.20050800 1354560650)
To certify that the aforementioned holds as of the quoted time the following with MPEx :

        F.GIGA.ETF x 116`613

To which add orders in the book fully paid in advance :

To which add sums deposited as surety for underwritten option contracts :

Your transactions since 1 hour before your last STAT :

You have also been paid dividends, as follows :

The Great Seal of the exchange has been duly applied.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux)

iD8DBQFQvPSKkhT8a/G2mSERAvmRAKCfjRPVBNDxEBQdUoTpxi4EeRdI1gCcCx8J
9eH3oXP1vzw338hs3iJSPEM=
=5f1E
-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

So, my self interest is that of the assets holders.

Would you see it workable?

one more "requirement" in doc/readme-qt.rst is the "libdb4.8++-dev"

Code:
First, make sure that the required packages for Qt4 development of your
distribution are installed, for Debian and Ubuntu these are:

::

    apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev \
        libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev \
        libssl-dev libdb4.8++-dev

Why not use the latest available?

Trying to univocally determine libdb isn't a bad idea because it could lead to compatibility and portability issues. If you open your wallet with a newer libdb, it will upgrade the wallet's db version and it will stop working with previous versions. That's why libdb version usually is determined, and even statically linked.

my linux installation is old and i havent done any updates sind some months/years Cheesy Cheesy never change a running system.
litecoin qt is working out of the box on the system. why its not possible to provide the same qt gui for ppc? i am really not good at compiling Sad

Try out this one, it's compiled and linked against an older set of libraries, so it should work on a broader set of os's versions:

thanks for the link but unfortunately it isnt working

Code:
./ppcoin-qt: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by ./ppcoin-qt)

Your libstdc++ version may not be up to date...

What's your dist and version?

You should get, at the very least, the security updates...

i do really love PPC Smiley but WHY is there no QT GUI for linux?
has somebody compiled this thing? i would give away some coins for this! lets say 1000 PPC?

You can try this one, if your OS has 64 bits capabilities:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_fyMTbLGLc3aUFEZlhVUjB1Zkk

Backup your wallet before trying, because they're no guarantees of any kind... Wink
74  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E.com exchange Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin <-> USD\BTC (fee 0.2%) on: November 24, 2012, 10:15:04 AM
The real risk to BTC-e when considering adding PPCoin is the risk of a 51% on the chain given its relatively low difficulty.

That's not true. Ppcoin implements PoS as its main resource on securing the chain, and has also automatic checkpoints on the PoW side, to help on the bootstrapping.

Now, it's true that the concepts it's using are still experimental and nobody can say if they will work out as expected. But also we can't look at it as if it was just another PoW only coin.

There's #bitcoin-ar too, for Argentine people. Still not very crowded, but sometimes we have some action there. Wink
76  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: so such a high stale rate? on: November 09, 2012, 01:52:03 PM
my bitcoind is on a ram drive and has close to 1000 connections.

This doesn't sound good.  You shouldn't have that many connections opened. AFAIK, the network code of the client isn't good, and having so many connections opened may slow down your connection...

How is it that phantomcircuit STILL doesn't have a scammer tag??

That's an excellent question.

I think someone around here fucking respects him.

Who?

Genjix and phantomcircuit are not scammers.  If this was an inside job, these two people were not in on it.

Hello I will be in _______ for several weeks starting next week, and I am looking for a hostel that accepts payment in bitcoin, but I can't find one there.  If you want to be the first, you get my business!

If you haven't heard of it before, bitcoin is getting very popular with travelers because it is decentralized so it is possible to instantly pay anyone using a smart phone without any fees or currency conversions, and it's more secure than carrying around cash.  It's widely accepted in the US and Europe now, and it would be good to see it spread to Central America too.  Additionally, it has more than doubled in value this year, so I like keeping my money in bitcoins instead of cash:) To learn more, go on ________.org

Una traducción rápida, quizás alguien más pueda refinarla un poco más (a quick translation, maybe somebody else could refine it a little more):

I also received the spare change I had still left in my accounts. Now I'm still waiting for the important, the asset information.

let's get back on topic

when will I get my btc back?

From which particular failed Bitcoin enterprise?  There are so many.
from glbse...

Anyway, the answer to the question seems to be more or less the same for all of them...

Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore....
