I was able to generate two stake blocks, does that mean I need to wait 30 days all over for a new set of POS blocks?
yes @Sunny King, will you confirm as well?

yes @Sunny King, will you confirm as well? If those are your only coins yes you need to wait again for more than 30 days to generate stake. The 30 day requirement applies to the age of the coin, if you just generated a stake with the coin, your coin is 'refreshed' and its age is counted from 0 again. However your other coins may have a different age and may still generate stakes sooner.

what is the minimum resolution of "a coin with a timestamp which generates stakes" ?
for example: i have 10 PPC which i got with one transaction then i spend 3.5 PPC then i get 2.5 PPC now i have 9 PPC in my wallet
do the 30 days counts from the 6.5 PPC or 6 PPC (one whole coin - one timestamp?) and the new 2.5 PPC have a different age?

The 2.5 ppc should be a separate coin. In general you shouldn't need to worry too much about it. Stake is generated automatically. There is no minimum resolution, the smaller the coin, the longer it may take to generate a stake.

read up on the topic of "unspent outputs". The granularity for ppcoin stake is based on the number of distinct unspent outputs you have available. As far as I understand that is also the reason why ppcoin splits each input stake transaction into two outputs: it increases the number of unspent outputs available for POS and thus increases the sampling rate.

v0.2.2 has been released. This release has made some improvements to the qt gui for stake transactions. Although official gui builds are not yet supported, those users who build qt gui themselves should find the new version much more usable. What's so wrong with providing a GUI for PPC ?

Appart from reading the source is there any document that explain distribution ?
How many PPC per block ? How many block per Hours expected ?, How many block per rediff ? Halvings, ?
I'm trying to figure out ROI of POS but can't even find the details for POW.
Shouldn't that be in the ppc-paper.pdf ?

That is odd. I read the paper and it answered all of those questions.

Expected Annual ROI demnominated in USD = 1% + expected % appreciation vis a vis USD Expected appreciation could be positive or negative who knows. There is an additional term in the equation. This is a linear approximation. It should be very accurate though.

You can try this one, if your OS has 64 bits capabilities: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_fyMTbLGLc3aUFEZlhVUjB1ZkkBackup your wallet before trying, because they're no guarantees of any kind...

I have it running on my PC (KDE) as I write this. Looks good too. The way I do it: 1. Download and install QT creator through whatever software manager your distro uses. 2. Start up QT creator and have it open the bitcoin-qt.pro file in the ppcoin.../src folder. 3. Have QT creator then build (The hammer icon on the bottom) the binary. You can ignore the warnings, the base bitcoin client takes many liberties when it comes to programming technique, and most compilers will give warning like crazy. You will need to worry about errors as they stop the compiling process. You may need to install some dependencies. They are listed in the install read me for Linux. 4. After successful compiling you should have your QT binary ready to go.

"never change a running system" is not really good advice, there are constant security updates (Yes, even for Linux) that should at minimum be applied. libstdc++ is at the heart of the programming language that almost all the coin clients are written in, so you may have to give in and update it. If you do not want to update, which is completely up to you, you may find more and more problems with current software running as most of the time later versions of software require current libraries and includes.

FYI Bitcoin reached 210000th block a moment ago and bitcoin mint rate has halved to 25 btc per block. Coinotron is now showing 1.84 profitability for ppcoin so proof-of-work difficulty is expected to rise from here (currently around 18000). Congratulations to bitcoin
