OK... So we ended a great run recently...

Not price.

Transactions.

After jumping up to over 30 per day avg, after the Muskpocalypse we seemed to have dumped back down to just a little more than 1/2 that.

What does this mean?

hodling/indecision

Hah, I needed to sell a few right when we peaked 500 but was in no hurry to finish the kyc (Kraken) and bam off a cliff!

I haven't sold since before alphabay so what are the odds? Smiley

What do you guys do to offboard these days?

BTW, you been quite lately, all well?

Shit, gotta check out, bbl

I haven't offloaded anything since 2017, but I've got a verified Kraken account locked and loaded.  Wink

I've been alright, but feeling "meh" in general. I'm tired of working, and not having any free time. Hopefully that will change by the end of 2022. How have you been?

Hello gentlemen. How have things been going?

OK.  I am gonna post something I might have to delete because it is so crazy.

To preface I have grown weary of the sort of alt-coiner style of attack that the new Monero community has taken on.  Sounds like Roger Ver to me a little.  Hating on the Maxis... accusing blockstream of hijacking bitcoin.  Shuning the NgU culture.   Even getting ETHtard style flippening narratives up and running a little. Of course some of the points are valid.  But I miss the monero community that respected Bitcoin.

Ok... well, whatever.

That said.. I feel like I am sensing something.. some weird groundswell.  It's among the maxis.  It is starting to feel like old school bitcoinners are starting to wake up and realize that for the time being Monero is really the project that best fulfills the goals ofthe Bitcoin whitepaper.  (OK SEE?!?!?!  I sound like fucking Craig Wright all of a sudden).

I feel like there are a bunch of hardcore Maxis in a room right now all hugging and crying as they come clean with each other that they use Monero on White House Market, and would never use Bitcoin for that, and they have realized that Monero has to exist, and Bitcoin is never going to be able to achieve what it has.

Soon everyone is going to realize that Monero matters, and it is too late to stop it, just like Bitcoin.   Not only is there room for it up at the top with Bitcoin, but it HAS to be there for the world to even keep working.

Yeah...  I am losing my mind.

I'm assuming most of us here have heard about the Marathon Blockchain mining pool now censoring Bitcoin transactions for FATCA compliance. That really made the maxis' heads spin. All of a sudden maxis on twitter were talking about ways to get fungibility into BTC, how to fight against mining censorship, etc.

I believe it could get much worse. Nassim Taleb explains the game theoretical reasoning: https://medium.com/incerto/the-most-intolerant-wins-the-dictatorship-of-the-small-minority-3f1f83ce4e15#.z5ry4bucq

@infofront: Pick it in terms of defining it, or picking one from a predefined set of (already prepared) polls?

I was buying bitcoins!!

Your timestamp 1619633791
My timastmap 1619633792

Choose the poll... infofront didn’t put any conditions so it’s open for you.

Hmm, i'm still thinking...
No idea  Roll Eyes

If you have a good poll on your mind, i'd let you choose.

Who else owns Bitcoin among your closed ones?
1. I’m alone
2. Me and my partner
3. My family and close friends
4. All of my circle owns some

Or

What’s your estimated price to sell your Bitcoins at least 50%
1. Next ATH
2. $100k
3. $250k
4. $500k
Or you going to HODL and die with your bitcoins? Don’t do this please...

Edit:
Or may be more generalized
What’s your estimated price to sell your Bitcoins at least 50%
1. Next ATH
2. $100-$150k
3. $200-$300k
4. $500k+

I think the first one is a good idea.
All the ideas i already had for a poll were already asked.
On the other hand, my mind is occupied with family probs at the time.
One of the sons is underperforming at school. It's not that he isn't clever, but he thinks he is way better than he really is. And when he's confronted with his low skills after writing tests, he's just sad. Not that he can be motivated to learn his stuff, but he remembers hundreds of names and details of pokemon, while he can't even accurately convert simple units (tons, kilograms, dekagrams, grams) - it's almost like dyscalculia. He gets it right one time out of four, by accident. $34 and 20c, converted to cents result in 340002 cents, for example. Next try, 2354cents converted to dollars, his reply is correct with $23,54...
He has a military grade maths teacher, too. I get a call from her every few weeks  Roll Eyes
I was helping many loser students in programming and computer science class, they were F's and made it to B,C's and some even found their new favorite hobby in coding. I'm good at teaching, i always tried hard to be a good teacher, but anything i try to teach him just wont stick in his head.
I really started to feel kind of helpless, lately.
My weak mind is occupied by spinning thoughts around this problem.
The trial to choose a poll made me somewhat aware of it.

It's okay. We'll go with that one.

Poll posted Apr. 16:

We'll see how that one turns out. I think it's time for a new poll though. First one to reply to this post gets to pick it  Wink

The Monero Moon (Issue 15) is now available for your reading pleasure. Grab a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer and kick back for a read. Like, share, and spread the word of Monero as it approaches all time highs.

Excellent as always - Thanks!

By the way, I am also of the mind that this BTC epoch stands a VERY strong chance of being significantly different than the last ones...  but that's another story.

Actually, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about that sometime too.

I'm going to take a moment to briefly whine/vent/pontificate.

I'm still a little disheartened by Monero's performance this year. In BTC terms, we're still down 50% from Oct. 2020. We're still down ~85% from the 2017-2018 peaks. Meanwhile, I'm seeing shitcoins hit new USD ATHs, though not against BTC.

However, I'm optimistic in that Monero seems to be on it's own cycle, loosely correlated with the cycles of BTC and altcoins. 2017 was a good example of this, with Moreno pumps largely unaligned with ETH and other alt pumps. Also, from a TA perspective, the long term cup pattern seems to be continuing nicely. Finally, we may be on the cusp of a broader market focus shift to "privacy" coins, with the specter of totalitarianism haunting the globe, and the recent market successes of newer "privacy" coins like Pirate Chain and Mobile[scam]Coin, and older ones like Horizen, ZEC, etc.

2341

You can take them all out for the day (fucking & sucking included) on your yacht for a good price in 2021 when we hit $100,000 per bitcoin.

To the moon bitches!

I'm going to hold you to that.

So lose/lose.  He keeps doing that. Lose/lose!

If daddy is right, he gets to watch his son go down in flames. - LOSE
If daddy is wrong then the son will be super rich, but dads gold will likely go down. - LOSE

And if I were the son and my fortune eclipsed my old man after he said that??  He sure as hell should never expect any help from ME.

Just noticed this screenshot leaves out the part that goes:

Schiff will be doing alright no matter what I think. He's probably made enough from management fees to insulate himself from a gold collapse.

Our planet has seen no less than 4 or 5 ice ages. It will come again. They say the climate change will make everything melt too. Better be prepared to live at both extremes. I would personally find it nicer to live in a colder country as most homes can be easily insulated and heated.

Yeah, but shoveling the driveway and getting snowed in has a very limited entertainment value.

Snowblower on your tractor and a warm fireplace insert makes this a lovely weekend.

It can be very nice, I agree, but you get tired of that real quick, take my word for it.

Even with a snow cab?Huh?

With enough money, any place can be comfortable. As someone who's lived in the upper midwest for most of his life, I'd prefer a warm climate.

There's a rough correlation between year-round good climate and longevity. The older I get, the more I realize the value of being able to hike or just go for a nice walk/bike ride on any given month of the year.

Quote
1. States that favor private property rights and other freedoms (usually conservative)
2. States that have low or no income taxes
3. States that have low property taxes (this is huge!!)
4. States with moderate climates and a longer growing season
5. States that don't have to deal much, if at all, with natural disasters (i.e., tornadoes, tropical storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, mudslides, etc.)
6. States with low electricity costs
7. States that have lots of available, lost cost land within 10-20 miles of a major city
8. City near where you will live has a decent airport with international flights

If you cross reference all of this criteria, you'll find that it narrows it down to about a half dozen states at most.

Really you narrowed it down to Texas.  Except for #3 which is balanced by #2.
Tennessee was my thought: Texas gets way too many natural disasters which lead to starving mobs. No fun. And I think they have pretty high electricity costs with no ability for solar producers to get the higher prices utilities charge in an emergency. That cap is *nasty* IMO.

But you could build something way out in the sticks, build your own power utility isolated from the Texas grid and provide power to other people. Hm.....

Texas has absurdly high property tax rates, and high sales tax rates.

Exactly, but our (TX) housing cost is often lower, even in urban areas.
However, it also sucks not to have as large % housing appreciation as left and right coasts.
Our neighborhood prices are at or slightly below those in 2014.
From 2014 to 2016 oil dropped from 112 to 37 within less than 2 years, Houston RE did not "like" that (or maybe it was storm effects).
Maybe we will "pop" this year or the next one, by the looks of it.
BTW, Hawaii has high house prices, but VERY low property taxes, probably one of the lowest in US.
Yes, TX property tax is around 2% of the property value yearly, which is very high, but not the highest.

I'm actually still considering relocation to Texas. I took a little vacation to South Padre Island before the big catastrophe. I toured the Rio Grande Valley, and found it to actually be much nicer than I expected. The housing is very cheap down there, and the climate is on par with central, coastal FL.
