61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 21, 2018, 12:58:21 AM
Hi guys,

I like riecoin for it's beauty! I try to start mining it in ublock.it, but got this error:

Connected to server using x.pushthrough(xpt) protocol
Connection to server lost - Reconnect in 45 seconds

I used ubuntu and followed instructions from

https://github.com/dave-andersen/fastrie

PS if you got this error message when making the miner:

xptMiner/riecoinMiner.cpp:6:26: fatal error: primesieve.hpp: No such file or directory

The solution is:

sudo apt-get install libprimesieve-dev

You need to compile from the stratum branch
Be sure to select it when cloning

Updating RIC to one of the later Satoshi versions would be nice. 0.12.1 or newer.

I am a big fan of RIC and searching for prime numbers. I am wondering how someone like me can could help with the development of Riecoin. I do some dev work for a living.

Also question how can I join the private pool Ublock.it?

Yeah this is really disgusting, m0gliE is still active on bitcointalk  Shocked. Stop pumping this dead coin.
Wake me up when there's a new fastcoin core release.  Roll Eyes

Riecoin is quite profitable at the moment as prices have risen to nearly 50 cents recently.
Riecoin is one of the oldest CPU coins out there, it's using the primesr hashing algorithm which is designed to find large prime number constellations.

A test machine i've run over the last month is an older i7 laptop Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ
It's generated about 160 RIC or about $66 at current prices. Ryzen and any high end Xeon CPU will generate many times that number.

Some pools have issues with block withholding attacks, best pools in my opinion are https://ublock.it/ and http://www.xpoolx.com/.
uBlock is a private pool, if you need an invite pm me for more information.

Kudos, ublock.it - second largest RIC block ever!

Only the second superblock that ublock has solved, we are very lucky today  Cheesy

We will send blockfinder bonus to the user who found the superblock, congrats and happy mining  Cool

I remember following the launch of riecoin and even mined it in the first few weeks on ypool. I see things have changed up a little and there is not a private pool. I've contacted ziip and also messaged on the website but have not been able to get an invite. I'm currently mining on riepool and my stats are quite rubbish for an i7 running for 24 hours. I've 0.07 of a riecoin confirmed. Is there anyone that can provide an invite to the private pool?

sent you a pm

Not very often recently, but I gather there were a lot of stability problems about a year and a half ago.  I was completely away from RIC for a while (sabbaticals are the best thing ever for academics... :-), so I wasn't really watching.  If you look back in the forum, though, you can probably find some discussions about crazy-high orphan rates when the network first started getting DDoS'd.

Here's a fork reported in October 2017:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446703.msg23395787#msg23395787

Here's a discussion from 2015 about the DDoS attacks - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446703.4080

That accusation (Xpoolx accusing Simba (RiePool.ovh) of the DDoS) is one of the ones I was referring to.

And here's a plot of the historical orphan rates (orphans are what happens when there's a race to complete the chain -- a fork is just when the race goes on for a longer time):

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/orphans.dws

You can see that things got really bad in late 2016 until early 2017.  Some time around then is when several people started adding extra DDoS-protected nodes to the network to try to reduce the chaos.  The orphan rates calmed down, but there's been a new spike the last few days.  (Amusingly, the DDoS is why I started paying attention again, because whomever was doing it launched an attack strong enough it took all of Carnegie Mellon University offline -- I had left a Riecoin node running in my office for the last few years, completely forgotten about it, and then... un-forgot. :-)

There's also some evidence that riepool is responsible for some attacks on uBlock.it. (though no evidence of riepool launching ddos attacks against nodes) when redjedievolution swapped from Riepool, he used the same worker names/passwords that he was using on Riepool and immediately these credentials were being used to launch an attack on the ublock stratum server.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446703.msg24633879#msg24633879

As far as OVH for hosting a Riecoin node, I've had great luck with them so far.

Regarding the network forking, the network appears to be able to better handle these types of attacks now. Last year we were seeing several forks/day for a period.
I will spin up more high capacity ddos protected nodes again to help keep everyone in sync. I would encourage pool operators to add these nodes i'll post them once online and tested.

Nice to see the Riecoin network shrugging off these attacks, they only make her stronger in the long run  Cool
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: December 31, 2017, 08:22:11 PM
Where can a find a stratum server for solo mining this algorithm Huh

Currently the mining network of Sia is about 250-300TH/s. Unless you are the owner of a huge GPU farm, your chances of finding a block solo-mining are minimal.

There are 5 big mining pools in Sia, each one with different payout schemes, fees and other variables. Take a look at them: https://siastats.info/pools_list.html. For instance, both Siamining, Luxor and F2pool are PPS, what means you'll get payouts even if the pools does not find blocks. Luxor has a very low fee of 0.3% that is paid as a donation to Sia developers.

Where can a find a stratum server for solo mining this algorithm Huh
Sia now can mine with ASIC, so I dont think that solo mining is profitable at the moment anymore.

ASICs (Obelisk SC1) are not yet released. They are expected to ship on June of next year or earlier if the manufacturing is accomplished sooner. But there is still time for GPU mining.

I do have a large GPU farm, all of my miners are behind a stratum proxy but i would prefer to solo mine vs pool mine as it's more profitable. I also have several Obelisk SC1's on order from the first week.

Is there a stratum server available for this coin/algo Huh

bump, looking for info on solo-mining Siacoin any help is greatly appreciated. I can see that someone is solo-mining and making about 25% of the blocks  Shocked, can't imagine there is no code available for this.

A happy new year for everyone here. Grin Grin

2018 will be a great year for Siacoin  Cool

uBlock.it is running much better now. Attack is now being successfully mitigated.  Cool

Apologies for the issues over the last week.
Happy mining.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 20, 2017, 12:39:47 PM
pool is completely down  Cry

EDIT: up again !! wooohoooo

Yay, working again! But... Seems like that many blocks were found, but not credited since 798893
799581, 799522, 799363, 799277, 799248, 799208, 799204, 799159, 799084, 799066, 799047, 799019, 798969, 798963
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/extraction.dws?11.htm
Please fix this Ziiip

And out of curiosity, can someone use testnet? I could not found any node at all, anywhere in the internet...
Or maybe just nobody uses this so the testnet blockchain was definitively lost? How to start a new testnet blockchain then?

Yup. it seems i found one of these blocks. Lets hope he will give us the coins cause once one of my miners found the one and only superblock that ublock.it has found.
i asked him if there is a bonus. he told me that there is no bonus but he is going to give me something for finding the one and only superblock that ublock.it pool has found.....and he gave me his balls.

Still he had any right to do it since there is no bonus, but dont tell people that you will give them one if you dont do it. Its like Simba's miner and his upgraded but not open source miner. He said that he will release his code but....balls, dry hairy balls.

All blocks are accounted for and payouts have been sent. Sorry for the trouble everyone.

Pon, I just sent you a RIC bonus for finding the superblock, thanks for mining on the pool  Cool

uBlock.it is under a very large ddos attack, we are working with our upstream providers to mitigate. Someone is not happy with uBlock.it apparently Tongue

Riecoin is a CPU only coin.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 16, 2017, 07:36:18 PM
Crap... Then there will be no CPU friendly coin anymore...

i think it will be CPU mine-able for quite some time. After all we have no idea if simba really created a new GPU miner or not, probably just using this fake news to promote his failing, botnet infested pool.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 14, 2017, 11:19:00 PM
Our GPU miner is very promising! Our first tests performed with ATI R9 series graphics cards indicate about 4.5x gain compared to xptMiner dga-c17 on the Intel Xeon E5 series.

It's a great result and we still have to fix some bugs.

We take this opportunity to invite those interested in mine this currency to do so on www.riepool.ovh and use xptMiner 2.2, the best miner in circulation. Only in this way can we continue to develop an innovative miner for Riecoin.
Thanks to those who support us and good RieMining!

P.S.  We all have balls full of you that continue, moreover, to release the blocks even after 15 minutes.... (the one Solo miner that solves 90%+ of the blocks). You have a lot of computing power, ok, at least do not be an asshole!
You, solo miner, will have a nice big surprise from our GPU miner! Yeah!   Grin

You should keep your word and open source the miner this time. Do the community a favor.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 13, 2017, 12:17:33 AM

shiiiiaaat apart from the frequent disconnects, i'm losing shares as well (job not found) in all my miners. still under ddos? i dunno what to dooooo

If you are seeing a large number of rejected shares you need to reduce the threads your miner is using.

From time to time miners will submit invalid shares, but I do not see a dramatic increase in rejected shares on the pool at this time. Efficiency is above 99%
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 12, 2017, 03:55:53 AM
I get a lot of connection timeout at ublock.it anyone with the same issues??

is everything alright with the pool ziiip ??

Pool has been under continuous ddos attack since Friday. This issue is being caused by upstream filtering, we are working with our upstream provider to resolve this.

You should be able to stay connected once you establish a session, sorry for the trouble. Never a dull moment on the Riecoin network. Tongue
