Almost all coins are recovering except Sia! I don't know when this coin will actually ATLEAST recover to what it was before!

how decentralized storage works? where is the data stored? Huh

Data is stored in a network of  currently 900+ hosts around the globe offering their free hard disk space and getting compensated for that with Siacoins. Currently they are offering overall 3500TB of storage.

More data at: https://siastats.info/hosts_map.html and https://siastats.info/hosts_network.html

Each file you upload to Sia is split in chunks and distributed among 30 hosts with a redundancy of 3x.

The Reed-Solomon algorithm of data distribution ensures that even if only 10 of those hosts are online, your files will be still available for you to download.

As hosts risk Siacoins in what is called collateral, they are de-incentivized to drop the files.

All low valued old coins are rising one after other so Sia should be one of next in line to see it turns coming soon. A huge increase is waiting because lot of coins from this dip have been bought once again juts look at the statistics and volumes generated in lats 24 hours alone.

Can anybody tell me how long the SIA blockchain needs to sync? It is running for ages on my computer and still has only about 7 percent. I think I did something wrong somehow. I only wanted to sync it because I wanted to store my SIA off the exchange finally. Is there any other wallet that supports SIA? Would appreciate every help.

There is only one full client available, the official Sia-UI. If you are using an HDD for the Sia installation instead of a SSD, it can take several days to sync. There is a workaround to reduce the syncing time to just a few hours of blockchain validation: manually downloading it (AKA bootstrapping). Follow the instructions here: https://siawiki.tech/daemon/bootstrapping_the_blockchain

Alternatively, if you just need right now an address for cold storage, you can use this wallet generator made by one of the Core developers: https://github.com/avahowell/sia-coldstorage/releases You will not be able to send coins from this wallet, only receive them, but you can later import the wallet recovery seed into the full Sia-UI for moving your funds whenever you need it

The coingecko dev rating makes me like this coin as a project. But price-wise and for investing and trading purposes Sia is tough to get behind. More competition is continuing to enter this space and Sia doesn't seem to be capitalizing on its first mover advantage. I'm very up in the air on whether to buy in or not but I will definitely follow the development.

Where can a find a stratum server for solo mining this algorithm Huh

Currently the mining network of Sia is about 250-300TH/s. Unless you are the owner of a huge GPU farm, your chances of finding a block solo-mining are minimal.

There are 5 big mining pools in Sia, each one with different payout schemes, fees and other variables. Take a look at them: https://siastats.info/pools_list.html. For instance, both Siamining, Luxor and F2pool are PPS, what means you'll get payouts even if the pools does not find blocks. Luxor has a very low fee of 0.3% that is paid as a donation to Sia developers.

Where can a find a stratum server for solo mining this algorithm Huh
Sia now can mine with ASIC, so I dont think that solo mining is profitable at the moment anymore.

ASICs (Obelisk SC1) are not yet released. They are expected to ship on June of next year or earlier if the manufacturing is accomplished sooner. But there is still time for GPU mining.

the information given by Hakkane from last month was just a foolish conversation, the siacoin was not going to rise again like it used to be. if the tree is planted the stem will grow tall but the siacoin is not like that.

Looks like for some reason you are targeting Sia in general and me in particular... Do you really think this is worth of your time?

My goals in this Sia thread are helping users with issues, offering information to users that ask for it (always citing the source, so they can confirm every piece of information) and clarifying complex aspects that are usually misunderstood. Have you asked yourself if all the two-sentences hate messages you are posting here are being useful to any user?

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters in BitcoinTalk are the posts that are helpful for other people. The rest are just ignored. That is the only thing that makes crypto communities grow healthy, and that is the sole reason cryptos get more capitalization every day: because we are open and we have the amazing tradition of helping each other.

Do you think this is even good for you? Coming to this Bitcointalk thread every day just to post another defamation, convinced that by doing that you can damage my reputation (I don't know how you could, if you don't offer any proof of what you say) or Sia's reputation, is just the opposite of what everybody would consider a mentally healthy attitude.

Are you doing this because you think this is a way as good as any other to grow your Activity or Post count to apply for a signature campaign? Take in mind no signature campaign will accept an account which his whole history are 2-sentences posts full of hating (that's what your current history looks like).

I am sad for you. Looks like you are totally salty probably because you bought Sia when it was at his max valuation in July. I am sorry, man, but each one of us is the only responsible of our investment decisions. If you feel you are done with Sia, I honestly recommend you to sell your Sia and move on: there are plenty of other cryptos out there that can be interesting for you. If you keep doing this you are only damaging yourself.

Besides, no matter what you, or anyone else does: I am not going to stop helping people, to stop answering questions... and of course I am not going to stop shilling about my website https://siastats.info LOL  Cheesy

Thanks for that explanations man! Appreciate it very much. Thats exactly the case, I am using a HDD. So thats why it takes ages... Thanks for the workaround tip I will check that out. But on the other hand a cold storage is all I need at the moment, because I want to hold my SIA for long term anyway and dont want to send them anywhere in the next year. So yeah, I guess I will just do it that way.
