601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The new interface in Bitcoin 0.5.0 is BAD! on: November 22, 2011, 05:31:01 PM
OP, what is wrong with you?  The new bitcoin-qt gui is freakin' amazing.  Stop nitpicking the shit out of it.  I even helped develop a tiny part of it  Smiley

Instead of whining about it on the forum, what you should do is open a github account, fork it, develop, and then send pull requests.  Much more productive doing that.
602  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: November 20, 2011, 11:46:18 AM
You can spin up a little GPU fan from 0 -100% instantly all day every day and never damage it.  Slowly spinning up a fan is only needed when you are dealing with 10hp electric motors connected to fan blades in HVAC units for large buildings, like at my work.
603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoinica Help... on: November 18, 2011, 05:22:47 PM
Go to bitcoinica and buy a negative amount of bitcoins. then sell them if you think the price is low enough. profit. OR the price could go up and you would lose money.
Isn't this the same as if you put in a positive number and hit sell?  It shows up as negative on your trade list and you are effectively "short".  Then you hit liquidate at your profit percentage goal.  Then you learn how to get crafty with the Place Order button and have it do that stuff automatically and set a stop loss so you don't get a margin call or lose big.

Don't do mining teams please.

1 TeraFLOPS.  If I remember right from a while ago, somebody mentioned that FP isn't really used for hashing and it can't tell you the speed the CPU/GPU will hash at, right?  Still, I think this thing might have some hashing power in it.  Could it compete with an AMD GPU?

606  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anybody else watching Mtgox Live? on: November 18, 2011, 12:38:51 AM
Healthy $1 - $1.25 range here we come. GPU mining en mass is going the way of the dinosaur. Does anyone want/need really cheap rendering farms? You're about to get your chance with the coming fire sales.
Actually, mining power has found an equalization point in the last two difficulty changes.  Nothing like the huge drops the 4 changes before it.

607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anybody else watching Mtgox Live? on: November 18, 2011, 12:22:18 AM
I'm watching Mtgox live and I see nothing that would get the price up to 2.8.  In fact I can't believe it hasn't gone below $2.0 yet.  Well, it did for a millisecond earlier.
608  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: TripleMining is a scam, and is flooding the forum with referral links on: November 18, 2011, 12:13:30 AM
You just replied to someone from 4 months ago.  I'm sure they really feel the sting right now, lol
609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Confirmed: Bitcoinica sold at $1.994 on: November 17, 2011, 08:51:05 PM

I liked the roller coaster one better before you changed it.

Hai Guyz, I made a chart to esplain everything

611  Economy / Speculation / Re: My prediction on: November 17, 2011, 05:02:33 PM
One more plunge in the next day or two to something in the low $2 range, possibly even below $2.

First half of prediction... check.

Yeah, makes me wish I had started my latest short position at something higher than 2.17.  Well, at least by holding on tight and keeping my lunch down, I was able to keep all my limbs during the ride.  Now, whether to take a long position from here...

Most definitely go long until 2.9 Just don't leverage so bad that you can't take a few bumps on the way.

HRm well now it appears I am only able to do 2.5x leverage on bitcoinica... anyone else still can do 5??
Zhoutong lowered it for everyone.  See other thread in this subforum by him.  He seemed kinda upset that his system was partly to blame for pushing the price down so far with 1:5 leverage.
612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gentlemen, buy your Bitcoins while you can still afford them. on: November 17, 2011, 01:28:01 AM
I think the title of this thread is funny because it will probably be a LONG time before I am unable to afford buying 0.00000001 BTC.  If the value skyrockets because it becomes a legally recognized currency, then I just buy the same amount (using $USD) I would have bought before, the decimal place will just change.
613  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI + debian + pyopencl on: November 15, 2011, 08:27:10 AM
Why don't you just use the opencl provided by the AMD/ATI drivers?
614  Economy / Speculation / Re: 50K bidwall at 2.30 - Crash over? on: November 15, 2011, 06:07:44 AM
Those bitcoin traders who wised up to this behaviour months ago are riding the waves, others are getting crushed by them time and time again.
You nailed it dude.  I learned how to trade the BTC market months ago.  This is just more of the same, but more fun because 50k BTC is being thrown around like mad.  I couldn't trade stocks like this (practice virtual account) but the Forex market is *very* similar to the BTC [forex essentially] market so I opened up a practice Forex account with one of the larger MM's, used my BTC trading skills, and pulled away with almost 100% profitable trades.

So your practice forex account is not real money? Can you explain what you mean by "larger MMs" ?

I would like to open a Forex account too !

SJ

MM = Market Maker.  One of the two types of brokers on forex.  I played around on http://fxtrade.oanda.com/ and had a lot of fun, really like that platform.  I highly recommend you read *everything* here http://www.babypips.com/school/ before messing with forex, especially if you want to throw real money into it.  Use the practice account for months before you lose real money, lol.  I still don't have the capital or guts to open up a real account.  I only trade with real money on BTC because all my coins are mined, my cards are paid off, and I get "free" electricity, so I have no risk.

Just made 10% off that last "crash" to $2.20  Grin  I really like this "manipulator" guy.
He is making this easy, isn't he?
Absolutely!  Volatility like this makes it really easy to make 5-10% profit trades.  I have guessed right on the peak and the valley 4 times in a row during this action!

618  Economy / Speculation / Re: 3 is the magic number, and the magic number is 3 on: November 15, 2011, 01:45:07 AM
Sure, some of you may make a few dollars in the mean time, but tens of thousands of people have lost wealth due to this shit, and are going to start giving up on this whole thing real soon.
There is nothing wrong when people lose "wealth" in these times.  That is their own fault.  And props to the traders who can profit in those situations.  There are ways of making money on the way down if you know how to trade.  Also, if these people lose their BTC because of bad trades then it continues the fundamental change of ownership I talked about a few weeks ago.  Let these people quit, other people will be there to step in and take the reigns.
619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Someone just took a gigantic dump. on: November 14, 2011, 08:23:54 PM
The big manipulator who has been setting the 50K bid walls has pulled out. He was the only thing holding the price back. He wants the price to fall even lower than it is right now.
Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis?  I see those same coins (same guy) just placed in different spots on the depth chart right now.
620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Someone just took a gigantic dump. on: November 14, 2011, 07:39:47 PM
This multiple step down in price is so predictable over the last 20 hours I have made some great percentage gains.  Nobody should be complaining right now, they should be learning how to trade in a market like this.  This is a unique situation where you can make a lot of money while this one guy with ~50,000 BTC / ~$125,000 plays around.
