601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: InflationCoin - IFLT - 8% PoS Year III - SourceForge Project of the week 2018 on: March 15, 2019, 06:20:56 AM
A staking computer got unplugged again and again Inflation wallet could not recover itself.  I tried the bootstrap some threads back and it wouldn't install.  How did you create it, Othell?

If you are talking about the bootstrap that I've uploaded and how to create it, is very simple. Just go to C:\Users\YOUR_PC_NAME\AppData\Roaming\InflationCoin and copy the following 3 file: database & txleveldb folders and blk0001.dat file. Note that I did this with my wallet closed. When you need the bootstrap just copy the 3 files (replace all) into the C:\Users\YOUR_PC_NAME\AppData\Roaming\InflationCoin

Glad to see some action this week.  This is a good coin.

Yes, we will start some marketing campaign soon, stay tuned!

Greetings From Nova Exchange!!

Nova headquarters are located in Sweden, which is quite a very cold place.
Recently though, we have felt spring in the air.....

So, Great Nova traders and trolls, spring clean your portfolio in March.

We have great news, if your March Trading volume is more than 0.2 BTC accumulated, you get ALL your trading fees back at the end of the month (minus any referrals paid out).

Get Some Sun & Trade on!!!

Your Nova exchange will be forgotten soon, since you started asking me to justify the source of the money after I deposited 0.26 BTC. No exchange out there asked this for under 1000$
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Monero Reach $500 in 2019? on: March 14, 2019, 08:13:02 AM
To reach 500$ in 2019 is very hard, but not imposible. I think it will touch this value in 2021-2022 1 year after the bitcoin halving.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 👽 [ANN][BIS]Bismuth - New Language, Free DAPPs, Cryptopia, BiteBTC on: March 12, 2019, 11:53:28 AM
I get your point but many people are traders, so they have buy/sell orders set to make some money. The holders I'm sure they have the coins off exchange.
Sure, however, they're still some people that keep their coin on an exchange which is a bad practice. And if there is some kind of that person I expect they take a lesson from the recent hack. After all, There is a possibility even though you only use it for trade, if bad lucks happen to you, the same kind of scenarios could happen.

What I actually mean I want to urge the development of decentralized exchanges and make people actually using it.

I think there is a mix of people that are holding and trading coins on exchanges, in the Bismuth case there are 5000000 coins on the exchange. I think some are just too lazy to install a wallet and they pay the price, for the traders is a risk that they must take. I just hope we can get back our coins and cryptopia will regain community trust after the hack.

Wow, five million Bismuth coins on the exchange! is this amount on cryptopia or these amounts on different exchanges?I do agree with vv181 thought, we need more of decentralized exchanges that make people actually using it. Btw, there are many of decentralized exchanges nowadays, is Bismuth on any one of them?

Yes only on Cryptopia is 5+ millions coins, you can check it on the rich list http://bismuth.online/richest.
I don't know if the coin is listed on any DEX out there.

Nothing new since 2018 Q1 is quite an overstatement wouldn't you think?

While you're at our GitHub I'd invite you to review the Espers codebase releases and the changelogs associated with them as you'll find your statement to be in error.

Sorry if I overstated that nothing new since Q1 2018, but this is what I see on your roadmap on the first page of the announcement and even on the official website.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I'd like to address some of the points made for a moment.

First point is the blocktime being ~5 minutes. The reason for this is there is no need for a rapid block generation. When users send coins they are available in ~3 blocks and fully confirmed by the network in 10-60 (this goes on behind the UI and is done for added security in case an invalid TX is found by the network). So your coins will be available for use to you within 15 minutes if not a little longer while they arrive and relay instantly. That being said the transaction time and such is something that we have been planning to adjust for some time now in the GUI side of things so that users don't think that they have to wait hours to use their coins.

Now about the second point which is the staking situation. We've addressed this quite extensively in Discord chats and such but it really hasn't been brought up here now that I think about it. Anyway what's going on is that PoS (any version) was not designed do properly handle such a large network weight and sheer amount of coins on the network. What's happening is that larger balances are receiving their 25% rewards however you with less in your holdings than the larger wallets are unable to obtain those numbers as they simply trump your network weight for staking. They only reset the weight for their coins that have staked NOT their balance so their weight seemingly never diminishes. This is rather a large inconvenience in terms to proper network operation so we've been working for the past couple months on an update to the PoSv3 method that we utilize in order to have weights reset after they've staked so that staking becomes more like users waiting their turn instead of completely being random and causing small balances to not be able to see the proper reward numbers. The calculations are however setup and designed for a 25% reward so once this update goes into affect this will be a non-issue.

I would like to apologize for your experience being considerably below expectations however I'd like to also note that we are still in ALPHA phase of development and are working hard to resolve any issues like the one's you've experienced. I thank you very much for sharing what happened and we will use this information for future updates.

First thanks for the elaborate and time consuming answer!

Second
The block spacing is ideally 5-min, for example at the time of writing (last 2 blocks), the space between block 813200 and block 813201 is 15-min and 30-sec. And even the previous 2 ones 812998 and 812999 were at 5 min, the total time for your " ~3 confirms" (I think you should know if is 2 3 or 4 confirms, not aprox.3) goes to 25-30 min which is a lot in my opinion. Anyway the main issue for me is with the POS rewards and I don't like the fact that the rich gets richer so I am waiting for the fix and maybe I'll come back and try again. Please tell me when this POSv3 is set in place and working as it should.
Thanks again for your time!
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [V] Version [V] | 60% PoS | Personal Storage Vault v2.2.4.0 on: March 10, 2019, 04:01:26 AM
What are plans and future for this coin?
The plans are to find a good PR person/team who actually willing to do the job and who understand that with proper promotion this coin can easily become a gold mine.
The future for V is bright and shiny  Cool

Well, I'm grateful for the two contributions towards the staking book I'm writing but both put together would barely pay for two hours of minimum wage.

I could do something, but I think more than one person has to be involved.

Would Noise do a YouTube crypto channel interview?

I have written over 15 press releases over the last 24 years, even got some Inc. Magazine coverage, have had academics write about my software in their own books, etc.   Most crypto team promotion work is pretty pathetic, but that doesn't match some of the egos who expect everyone to dance while their bags go up.  I think the market is going to turn around even better than it was last year but we have to work to keep things going in the mean time.

I will try to get more funding for my book which will highlight VersionCoin, but we need other people doing things as well.

I'm on the GrowthCoin team with two other programmers and so we are pretty busy with that.

I want to see all the good older staking coins stay alive.

I could also help with promoting this coin, if you guys have some coins to share as giveaways would be awesome (I don't hold any atm, but I intend to buy some). Maybe we can make a donation fund for this giveaways. If not I can shill this coin on twitter if you have access to the twitter handle, if not I can make a new one/use one of my own twitter accounts. Another thing that Version must have is a discord server, to talk marketing strategies and stuff, and for the community members/holders to join and talk together, maybe to rains some coins, etc...  Don't hesitate to DM if you are interested. Peace!

P.S. The snapshot should be updated since is more than one year old (last block generated 417 days ago).

Donation fund is not a problem, sent you a DM Smiley

Will update blockchain snapshots soon.

OK, I am waiting for the snapshot to sync my wallet.
I have joined Discord, we can talk more there.

Hello mates! I want to know if the total supply at 31,517,368,896 COMP is the cap. Since there are too little coins to be mined, I want to know if I should invest or not. Thank you!

@Grimnir
Yes I think your amount is too low and if you look at top 10 wallets some of them are staking with 4-500 million coins, so the lower bags have very low chances to hit a block.

@paramind22
Thanks for the tip, I will have a look at all those coins and maybe I'll pick 1 or 2 to invest in if I'll find something interesting.
From my bag I can only recommend ShardCoin (SHARD) 50% POS currently, very active team with working products. Here is their website https://shardcoin.io/.

First I want to mention that I don't want to spread FUD but I want to let others know what to expect from this project, as for me the experience was disappointing.

OK, so here is my experience with Espers coins:

First impression was not good, when I saw you need to wait 1h+ to get a payment confirmed (10 blocks - 1 block is mined between 5 to 10 min) which is worst than Bitcoin's tx (here you need 2-3 confirms).

Second and the worst.
I bought around 40 million coins on February 06 and staked them 24h, 7 days a week for 1 month now. The interest was only 150450 coins instead of aprox. 822000 coins (27400*30 days) what should have been (10 millions/365 - supposing I am staking only the initial amount). So the interest is not 25% as the whitepaper says is much more less, around 4.5%.

After I saw this I made some digging and saw that in one year the total supply increased by only 9.3% (current supply - 1 year back supply) from POW+POS so my guess was correct, since the blocks are split 50-50 to POW-POS the POS is around 4.5% annual only.

Peace!

Good observation.  I wonder where the 25% comes from?

I tried to stake Espers about 18 months ago and it wasn't staking well  compared to many other coins.  But those many of those higher staking coins have a problem holding a team together now.  Espers is like a middle ground coin: staking might not be high but at least there seems to be more than one person behind the curtain.   I have 3 computers that only stake wallets and I can let you know some good low entry higher staking coins if you want.   Many of these are 4 or 5 years old.

I bought because I like POS coins, those with mid-stake interest like Espers, Electra, Bean Cash, Linda, Shardcoin, etc. But I really don't like coins with under 10% Cheesy maybe only NEO and ONT. I will move my money from Espers to Ontology or NEO since I get a better ROI and I don't need to keep the wallet open at all.

Regarding the team I don't know what to say, I saw the dev working on other projects too (see his last posts+github). No wonder why the roadmap is so delayed... nothing new since Q1 2018 and this is sad.

615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Too late too buy BNB?? on: March 07, 2019, 01:06:46 PM
Is not late if you want to hold it for long term, like 2-3 years. But if you want to buy now and sell soon, like next month for quick profit I won't buy now, because what goes up must go down also BNB included.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you guys think about cardano’s ada? on: March 07, 2019, 08:02:43 AM
Cardano is one of the best projects out there, but even they have a good team (I don't know how large it is) my personal opinion is that they are trying to develop too many things at once (looking at their roadmap). But overall they are one of my top 5 assets in my bag so I trust the team and I am confident that they will succeed as Blockchain 3.0 in the long run.

Here you have a good review of Cardano from one of the Ethereum developers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9OLFZqkHLw

Just a question for the devs. Why the core devs have changed the block spacing from 45 sec what is used to be in the past to 5 min now. I remember everything was working good back in those days and since everyone wants fast tx I wonder what is the reason of this change. And why they choose 5 min instead of 2 min for example. Now you'll need to wait almost 1h for a tx to be confirmed by the network (10 confirmations) which is worst than Bitcoin one, which is 2 confirmations mostly. Thanks in advance for your answer! If any.

Go to the discord and ask this question there. The official team in discord.

OK, I will do this asap.
I just thought that is much more easier to get some answers in here since I don't think on discord the devs have time to answer everyone questions about everything in the chat and an AMA is pretty time consuming in my opinion. And of course here is much more official. Anyway I will try to join in there, but since is a chat app, I doubt the devs will read everyone posts, but I will give it a try.

On discord developers are answering ASAP, CryptoCoderz is very friendly and is on discord regularly and will usually answer all questions quite fast.

If you decide to use discord, you can paste the answer here for everybody to see.

I will do what you suggested, but I think if CryptoCoderz wanted everybody to see the answer he could come in here and answer for all. What am I, Espers messenger?  Shocked

Hello othell_rogue,

sorry for having to wait for so long. I think you have asked a good question and I have forwarded it to CC, hope he will come back to you soon.  Smiley

OK, thank you and don't worry as I am back around so there is no rush. I think many people in here are curious regarding this dev decision to increase block spacing.

03/01/2019: New Block Explorer on CryptoID and InflationCoin Sidechain enabled on LeapDAO Plasma Testnet

We now have a new block explorer provider with CryptoID for real-time blockchain statistics and metrics, you can check out our page and find your address at the link below:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/iflt/

Additionally the InflationCoin Sidechain has been enabled on the LeapDAO Plasma testnet on the Ethereum network, for testing and research of their 2nd layer instant transactions scaling solution. To receive an amount of test network coins to use the relay, you can send an email to relay@inflationcoin.org.

Nice to see a new and working explorer. You should update Coinmarketcap with the new CryptoID explorer since the 2 listed there are expired. Discord should be added as Chat2 on Coinmarketcap too.
