fbi is stealing funds from citizens ? like from those that use telephone banking ? tell me it ain´t so.
They don't, because if they want your $, they just call your bank. With BTC they have nobody they can call to seize your wealth, so they might indeed make good use of such a service. good point.

Bitcoin is ideal for prison use. It is impossible to find by the guards. Everyone must get used to using brain wallets Haven't you heard about CageCoin? There's no computer needed. Not only does it exclusively use brain wallets, but the users calculate and validate the signatures themselves. All the hashes are calculated in their heads, using an algorithm that's optimised for neuronal processing and therefore can't be beaten with a GPU or even an ASIC. I's virtually impossible for any one gang of inmates to gain 51% of hashing power, although I did hear that one group was experimenting with gene therapy to add direct hashing to their brain chemistry. a hard fork would be... uhm... split brain ?

hm... sry for ot, but would it be possible to develop a way/device/software/service where one could pay with bitcoins only via voice/phoneline ? imagine you could say a certain passphrase and the sum you want to spend and this service would execute this order...
That's an excellent way to have the FBI empty your wallet while their tapping your phone. Someone should set this up. fbi is stealing funds from citizens ? like from those that use telephone banking ? tell me it ain´t so.

Hello, I'd expect they have better things to do than adding for certain customers additional pools, etc now. They said, in the beginning there will be the KnC-pool available, only as far as I can remember. As soon as the management interface is up&running you can do what ever you want. I'd hope they will not modify the config file via ssh for each and every hosting customer asking for it as it would delay startup even further.
I can fully understand if KnC can't configure backup pools before they have solved all the other problems with the hosting, BUT: - I have not heard anything about the KnC pool yet. After all the current problems (like webinterface having no option for a backup pool) I do not have trust in a KnC pool at the moment. - From another call with KnC I still assume that no one will get ssh access to the hosted miner. In combination with the webinterface not offering the config of a backup pool, this is something that KnC must do manually. Sorry! The hosting is overpriced for a normal hosting and I assume one reason is that KnC must do additional tasks normally not covered in a normal hosting: Doing software / firmware updates. Configuration of "normal" mining features via SSH as long as the customer available web interface does not allow this. Replacing units that caught fire / did explode Sorry, I could not resist! Ralf / trepex what a bummer. we´ve choosen knc hosting since it was promised hashing "within hours" after production. we end up being behind even the remotest places, while our brandnew gear is resting.... in stockholm. 4 btc compensation is a nice gesture, but... "within hours" would be at least tuesday, october 2nd which is a week ago. so the loss is more like 10 btc per jupiter. on the other hand, what is more important, that knc did actually deliver. no scam, no bfl style drama, but genuine professionals. all the nay sayers, all the haters were wrong. they achieved something big. the machine looks good. hosting had a bad start. maybe they will come up with another little gift to calm hosting customers.

Two points:
1. After Bitcoin has not suffered from Silkroad shutdown and Bitcointalk forum shutdown I am more than convinced that it is on its way to high values
2. Nobody can predict when people start to deal BTC on the next scale eg. 1 BTC = 1000 EUR. But after the mentioned last events I think this may be pretty fast.
i agree. bitcoin is astonishingly stable. reminds me of this golden rock... (sry, couldn´t resist posting it again)

I would be very surprised if DPR had 10% of the 600000 BTC left when he was arrested. What many forget is that the 600000 BTC represent the gross income from SilkRoad between January 2011 and September 2013. For most of this time the BTC / USD was in the single digits, or low double digits and for some time even in the double cents. The site had expenses not only servers and hosting but also employees and other expenses typical of this type of business. An example of the latter is, if the allegations made are proven correct, hitmen to deal with employee theft. Then there is also DPR's expenses which given the nature of his business would likely have included "sampling the merchandise".
this. all this talk about this virtual super treasure is nonsense. the press just loves those astronomical figures. ot but funny: here is a real super treasure waiting for you... http://www.businessinsider.com/report-26-billion-left-at-moscows-sheremetyevo-airport-2013-9

I am more interested to know when will the feds sell the confiscated coins, that could have an impact on the market.
I'm more concerned with the 600k coins they haven't have control over (yet). Considering DPR will likely live the rest of his life behind bars, that's a ticket to make pretty damn sure their value never reaches anything significant. this 600 k btc stuff is nonsense. take any companies turnover for two years, shut down the company and expect the entire funds still sitting somewhere... never ! sr had expenses. especially when you are underground things are expensive. and the value of btc during this time was averaging single digits. on top of it dpr might have spent/squandered/donated/lost a lot of it. maybe 100 k btc, but that is still very high.

u.s. can not go bankrupt. it will just print/create more $. the gov. shutdown is just some political opera/drama play. it will not hit any fan. you should be more concerned about gox staying liquid.

Makes sense actually, it's about to fall off a cliff. some dumbasses seem to try pushing it also.

5 years from now... "Hey, how much for BMW"
"2 bitcoins"
"Wow, that's a lot!"
"Well, it is an expensive company"

bitcoin is stable. like a rock. like a giant golden rock.

despite the fears and news of "death of bitcoin" chart is looking good edit: bitcoin is stable.

|
|
most likely scenario: some sneaky fed agents will get access to this wallet and later they will tell the public those coins were accidently "erased"/destroyed etc.
