First of all, are you aware that USDT itself can belong to different chains like BEP20, BEP2, TRC20, ERC20, OMNI, SOLANA, MATIC, etc?. As far as I know, fees are charged for the type of token you have. If you have a BEP20 USDT, you will be charged in BEP20 BNB and so on. Based on that, to answer your question, BNB or USDT based on BEP20/BEP2 is cheap for swapping. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but this answer is based on my knowledge. I always keep in my mind that I'm all alone in this, so I have to be super meticulous in every step I take in the crypto world. It's not a centralized system when you can easily get some help or support when you make a mistake, and even though you make a mistake in a CEX (which is centralized), it's can't be guaranteed you'll get help immediately so it's always wiser if we do not only do double-check but multiply check to avoid some unnecessary mistakes.

IMHO, before jumping to cryptocurrency, you need to know the basic thing about it. The most basic principle about cryptocurrency is it's decentralized. There is no single institution that controls the cryptocurrency because it's basically based on the p2p principle. So, the price will be built by supply and demand among people who trade it. However, we can't be blind that's actually there are some parties who handle a big amount of it, which is called the whales. Not seldom, they're the ones who control the price movement.
