622  Economy / Services / $100 in btc to program text message bomb script on: February 28, 2013, 07:15:37 PM
I'm looking to exact a little revenge on someone who scammed me out of a few hundred dollars, and am willing to pay some btc to do so.

What I'd like to do is to have someone program a script that can text this person's phone repeatedly, ideally at least 3x per second (the higher the better), so that his phone will be largely unusable. If he wants to read any texts or call out from his phone, he won't be able to since his phone will still be registering new texts continuously.

Ideally, this solution would have different originating sources, whether that be phone number or email address so that he couldn't easily just ban incoming texts from a certain number.

Looking to spend up to $100 in btc for a usable solution that will bombard his phone for at least 1 month. Plus, you'll get the satisfaction of knowing that you helped make a scammer's life a little bit worse. Think about those times when you got scammed and imagine the reaction of that person if this happened to them. Smiley

Any takers?

Thankfully, I escrowed my 40btc bet and have actually received the 80btc from escrow.

Thanks Matt   Smiley

The fact that he allowed escrow early on makes me think he intended to make it a real bet until it was clear he was going to lose hehe

I guess he intended to set up a heads I win, tails you lose scenario. Hence the limited use of escrow. The fact that he did some escrow (I'm presuming its true) makes me think he intended to win and get btc or scammer tags galore doled out.

He offered to escrow my bet (with a 3rd party, of course) I foolishly trusted him. This is also one of the reasons I believe that the initial bet was authentic. He thought that he was going to win...

Ditto. Sad face. I should have followed through with the escrow, but I was lazy and didn't know who I could trust to esrow it with.

Sad face. Oh well. What a lowlife. I'm hoping karma usually takes care of these guys.

Why don't you just send your coins to gox first?

That's what I do when I reformat mine, just in case I can't get my keys back and working for whatever reason.

In all seriousness, what is the mechanism that will force the losing party to pay?

If there is one in place, I'd like to place a wager, but I can't rely on faith (nor would I expect you to) to get paid.

Hmm, so it's Diablominer that has the problem. Says it's submitting 950 mhash/sec, but btcguild only registers 500. This s for various lengths of time.

I can use guiminer and it will do 800 mhash/sec. But then my GPUs are only working at 80% efficiency for whatever reason. Weird... Sad Anybody else run into this problem?

Guess I can go and try to learn cgminer.

More info: according to MSI Afterburner, the two GPUs are both at 100% load, and they are heating up like it. It's like the rest of the work is getting lost somehow?
628  Bitcoin / Mining support / 7970 + 5870 should be getting 1000 Mhash/sec,only getting 400? New Install on: July 26, 2012, 04:20:24 AM
Hey guys,

I just repurposed one of my friend's old computers as one of my mining computers, moving my 7970 and 5870 to it. On my old comp, I got about 1000 Mhash/sec, but this new one I only seem to be getting 400?

Here's exactly what I did. If I didn't mention it, I didn't do it:
1) Reformatted and installed Windows 7
2) Downloaded chrome
3) Installed latest ATI 12.6 Catalyst Driers
4) Installed Guiminer
5) Installed Diablominer
6) Installed Java
7) Installed MSI Afterburner and set clocks to 1050 on the 7970 and 900 on the 5870
Cool Started diablominer - it says I'm doing 1000 mhash/sec, but on btcguild where i Have it pointed, it says that I'm only at 450 mhash/sec

...wtf is going on? Did I miss a step? Why am I not hashing with the same rate as I did on the old comp? And why is diablominer saying that I'mhashing at 1000 mhash/sec if I'm not.

Btw, same problem persists when I use guiminer instead. Only difference is that it says I'm doing 900 when I'm actually doing 450.

Is there something else I need to install in order to make these things work? I didn't install any chipset drivers or anything, but windows seemed to have picked it up correctly.

Well, to answer y'all's question, it still seems to happen when I manually turn my monitors off. Cheesy

I rolled back to 12.4. We'll see what happens. So far, 8 hours no problems, but that doesn't necessarily mean the problem is fixed. With 12.6, sometimes the problem wouldn't manifest itself for >24 hours.

Well this worked, but with an unintended side effect. I get BSODs. Sad face.

Going back to 12.6, and will disable the "turn display off after x minutes" option.

Weird; I wonder why it never manifested itself until I installed Catalyst 12.6.

And unfortunately, I do want my monitors off when I sleep. Sad

I wonder if I roll back to 12.5

I'm using windows 7, and I'm on Catalyst 12.6, with two ATI 7970's. One clocked at 1075 and the other at 1050, getting 1250 mhash/sec.

What would cause the following problem?

When I'm away from my computer, sometimes my GPUs will go from being 100% utilized to 30% utilized, dropping my mhash/sec to 400. Once I notice and come back and turn my displays back on (this usually happens when my displays are off), then the GPU utilization will ratchet back up to 100% and I'll get back to 1250 mhash/sec.

How do I fix this? As you can imagine, this is stupid frustrating paying for 2 ATI 7970s and having them hash at the same rate as 1 5870 randomly.

Sometimes this happens instantly once I turn my monitor off, other times it takes several hours to manifest. Any ideas?

zhoutong, this is an unbelievable act of kindness.

I can't imagine anyone else basically giving away $40k without having to. Thank you for this, and don't let others get you down. You are a class act.

I would bet by the time the last bitocin is mined, about 50% of the all bitcoins will have been lost forever to wallets nobody can access anymore.

Bravo to you lolwut. You saved a lot of us a ton of bitcoins.

And kudos to you for getting one for $600! I'm kinda jealous lol.

There's no option for queen sized, is there?

Do you have any feedback or any way for us to verify that you have successfully transacted on these in the past?

639  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Anyone interested in a 6950? on: April 28, 2012, 02:20:47 PM
Just as a heads up, the new 7850 is at least as powerful as your 6950, plus it has the "it's newer. It's shinier" factor going for it, so keep that in mind for gauging price.
640  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: DiabloMiner GPU Miner (LP, BFI_INT, async nw, multipool, 79xx GCN) on: April 18, 2012, 07:53:45 PM
230 at stock vs 175 at stock. 79xx has the automatic memory voltage control, but has a limit of 150mhz lower than core. However, at, say, 1125mhz like mine is, moving memory from the stock 1375 down to 975 cuts down on GPU temps about 5c. On my 5850, which didn't have automatic memory voltage control, I had to drop the 1000mhz memory down to below 300 to get the same 5c drop.

Don't forget that you can run OC mode 2 on Afterburner and set the RAM to whatever you want.
My 7970 is currently at 1185 core/710 mem, hashing at 709 Mh/s stable. I've found that if I drop the RAM clock below 710, it gets a bit unstable.

Virtually every miner in here runs Linux.

...I run windows...
