621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: March 28, 2015, 11:16:17 AM

None directly. I just saw a nice simple coin with some people supporting it that wasn't even being updated for critical security flaws, and felt I could help out with that.

None directly yet he hosts the 'most up to date' source code on his personal github account...

I'm working on the Namecoin DNS seeder: https://github.com/fluffypony/namecoin-seeder

I've also forked Neocities and even submitted a PR: https://github.com/fluffypony/neocities

Our main focus is on Monero, but that often gives rise to peripheral and even unrelated projects, and that's ok.

Enough said.  That explains why monero projects never get done.

I´ve asked you before, and i will ask again... have you donated a very big amount of monero or are you willing to pay the devs a whole-year salary so they can work on monero? Otherwise i guess what they are doing in their free time is none of your business...
622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON rebrand, new thread, new developer team (positions open) on: March 28, 2015, 10:03:11 AM
The previous developer of AEON has abandoned the coin and some community members want to rebrand it.

Discuss here. If the rebrand goes forward this will become the new ANN thread for the coin.

What is needed:

1. New name/logo/etc. Bounties may be available depending on fundraising (item 2)

2. Fundraising to pay for development (incentives/bounties if desired for team members, etc.), hosting, seed nodes, etc.

3. People to work on the project, especially creating new builds, porting other cryptonote tools (gui wallets, etc.). Bounties may be available depending on fundraising (item 2)

4. Marketing and business development to get relisted on some exchanges, renamed on pools (if any still support it), etc. Bounties and/or pay for work may be available depending on fundraising (item 2)

5. More?

If you are looking for the most up to date AEON repo (source code) it is here: https://github.com/iamsmooth/aeon

Specification:
PoW algorithm: CryptoNight
Max supply: ~18.4 million
Block reward: Smoothly varying using the formula (M−A) / (220) / (1012) where M = 264 −1 and A = supply mined to date.
Block time: 60 seconds
Difficulty: Retargets at every block

Launched: 6.6.2014 at 6:00 PM UTC

4. Minergate is still supporting it
623  Local / Announcements (Deutsch) / Re: [ANN][CLOAK]Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | PoSa3 - Anonym & Trustless [longterm] on: March 27, 2015, 09:40:51 PM

624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | PoSa - Anonymous & Trustless on: March 26, 2015, 08:37:51 PM
Could we keep the cheering to the point something is really done and public? Otherwise this just looks weird.

Oh the 'instamine', this has been done to death and is very boring, but the net result appears to be that the dev 'might' have something like 300k coins. Certainly a lot less coins than Satoshi has. Anyway, please let's not go there again, it's been done to death.

And there is a reason it has been done to death... why not simply re-launch... should be easily possible the first 48h if you made an honest mistake... and the Satoshi defense is ridicolous... as far as i know the block rewards + reductions parameters never have been changed unlike DRK/Dash...

626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: March 26, 2015, 01:04:56 PM
Where are x86 binaries for Windows ?!

x86 support was suspended after the memory requirements blew past 4gb.

I've painstakingly worked through as many of the x86 incompatibilities on the blockchain branch as I could find, so 0.8.8.7 will support x86 again, and we're in the process of completing final merging and testing on that at present:)

How long is it going to take, a week, month, longer ?  You should have left simplewallet x86t binary, cant sync my cold storage !@#

We're not a company, we are volunteers that work for free, so it will be precisely as fast as it can be. If you'd like us to work faster then I suggest donating.

Of course you can download the last working x86 binaries if you need: https://downloads.getmonero.org/monero.win.x86.0610.zip

Thanks for uploading it again, it was redirecting to a 404 earlier today.
Now that you mention donating, what is going on with 10k XMR donation to Atrides, dwarfpool admin ? Has he written one line of code yet ? It has been 3 months already...

EDIT: Where to download old linux x86 bin. ?

Why you ask here, and not atrides himself directly? Bet if you donated back then he will answer you as fast as he can... if not not i guess all people that did donate know whats going on
627  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: DARKCOIN - Wegbereiter der anonymen Cryptocurrencies on: March 26, 2015, 08:17:38 AM

628  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: DARKCOIN - Wegbereiter der anonymen Cryptocurrencies on: March 25, 2015, 11:49:09 PM

629  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: DARKCOIN - Wegbereiter der anonymen Cryptocurrencies on: March 25, 2015, 11:11:35 PM

Aha. Also so eine Art Krypto-Kommunismus?

630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMR vs DRK on: March 25, 2015, 10:54:09 PM
When reading the posts, Fluffypony comes off as someone who is giving both sides of the story simultaneously. Doesn't seem one sided at all to me. It's just that Darkcoin has no attributes and nothing going for it tech wise, so it's getting destroyed that way in conversation. It's like those on the monero team are the 160 IQ nerds and those on the darkcoin team are the half retarded bill boos.

What a silly post.

Nobody from the DRK team has posted AFAIK, so your point is invalid.

Fluffypony is clearly a very smart guy and has made some great contributions to the discussion. However, he was highly critical of Darksend based on a flawed understanding and also made some rather odd claims about masternode security requirements. His core argument around compromising the masternode network was based on gaining control of a number of nodes that he couldn't quantify, meaning he couldn't demonstrate whether such an attack would be practical.

why does it have to be practical ? The only question i would have for myself if it is possible? Why quantity over quality?

because if it's impractical to mount such an attack, it won't be mounted...

Sure but i guess "if" the 3 Letter Agencies really wanted to get an insight, it would not be that impractical anymore to even corrupt/steal/sniff a number of like 10k of MNs, as i guess a large % of MN are hosted in rather easy to access countries DCs. Given the afford and possibilities the NSA alone has... guess thats why other people in this thread were pointing to Snowden

Is XMR Mining with a Celeron CPU N2940 4GB Memory (Notebook) a bad Idea?

I don't think so. Are you mining with just a miner (solo mine, like Yam or Wolf etc), or are you running with a full node? (built in miner)?

if you're in the US, a good pool for that sort of hashrate is www.monerohash.org. Only about 5 kh/s, so even if you do like 100 - 200 h/sec, you'll still get 0.3 -0.5 xmr per payout.

you mean .com?
