Jesus Christ...
The bitcoin community is gullible as fuck. Therefore, it attracts scammers.
That's how simple it is. No pathetic posts about feeling betrayed, no multiple threads about the same topic (being butthurt about getting scammed), no tears and drama is needed.

The only thing you all need, is to learn how to use your brains. Do not trust anyone, especially not just because you had sweet chit-chat over Skype and PM's. Your parents obviously failed to raise you, because even kindergarten kids know they're not supposed to trust strangers.

You'll operate under a new account and remain secretly involved in your businesses.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 09, 2012, 04:15:56 PM
To be honest, I am not really surprised.
Fortunately, I live in part of the world, where everyone is a scammer, until proven honest.

And although I am slightly amused by the butthurt you've inflicted upon this forum, it saddens me that estabilished memebers of the community are not more honest than casual scammers who try their luck here and there. I only hope that the theory about free market is right and the community ostracizes you and your shady business.
624  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 06, 2012, 03:26:36 PM
For now the romney event complety overshadows both pirate and bitfloor, we will know in 2-3 days if there is a followup how it is regarded, etc...

Until that has played out the bear market is suspended imo.
what romney event do you have in mind?
EDIT : holy fuck, that thing is ridiculous. i doubt someone will pay. it's too much money for something that probably doesn't exist in the first place. but still, it's a good way to bring attention to bitcoin.
625  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 06, 2012, 02:55:46 PM
What the fuck... Bitfloor got hacked, there are still problems with Pirate, but the price is rising. The market is completely irrational.
626  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's going on with Bitfloor ? on: September 05, 2012, 11:28:40 AM
Why do you guys always need to make multiple threads about the same topic. There are already about 4 threads about Bitfloor crash.

The story got picked up quickly by Arstechnica, C-Net et all.
Bitcoins sold, let's wait for a FUD storm! I expect the price to hit <$8 in next few days.
629  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitfloor hacked on: September 05, 2012, 10:33:46 AM
yup ... any thoughts on what that will do to the market ... or sense it was a day or so ago do you think the market has already reacted ?

Plus trading at Mt.Gox is paused right now

I don't think it will have much of an effect on price.

All this does is remind everyone that security is very important.

and the users of bitfloor lost some coins. so.... they MIGHT wana buy back in when they get their USD back from bitfloor
And the hackers MIGHT wanna sell their loot.
FUD + quick sell = down goes the price
but yeah, it will eventually rebound.
630  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll - Sooo what's next? on: September 04, 2012, 10:07:07 AM
Since pirate is supposed to pay out in next few days, there are two options :
1, he pays - his investors cash out, driving the price down
2, he doesnt pay - general bitcoin FUD + pirate selling his assets drive the price down

Thus, I'm bearish. I'm trying to sell my btcs now, but the price is too low for my taste. I hope it goes up until the weekend dip kicks in.
631  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 03, 2012, 05:10:59 PM
Care to explain why the minimum price is linear according to you? I mean... why not a curve? Wouldn't a curve be more likely?

I can't.
If you draw trendlines they usually fail in predictive power unless they are linear, the only explanation I have is crowd psychology. Other than that it seems completely random...
I understand that. Technical analysis always looked to me like a combination of crowd psychology and genuine bullshit. I read a lot about lines, peaks and bottoms, channels and whatnot, but nobody really explained WHY. You provided the best explanation so far.

Care to explain your methods?

I don't have any specific method.
When you draw lines, channels, fibs, e.t.c. you use the extremes.
I don't recomment any entry or exit points.
I just try to keep it simple and not overanalyse.

Well, if you don't have a specific method and just draw straight lines and connect them somewhere then it seems like a random analysis that shows nothing.
Truth be told, I'm skeptical about technical analysis in general.
633  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 03, 2012, 04:56:35 PM
I still think that pirate will not sell his bitcoins in the near future.

The price could tank regardless, but not as steep more like we had last year after 30, it could still accelerate at some point from panic sellers but no fractional digits crazyness. As of how low... idk, just this you can draw a linear trendline under the price from 0.9 to 2 and I don't think that would be broken.

Good guy.. I would be on a rampage if I were in his shoes....
I concur. This community needs more people like him (although somewhat less naive, so they wouldn't invest in ponzi schemes). I wish he'd get his money back.
635  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Details of Pirate's Investment Strategy on: September 03, 2012, 04:36:28 PM
People fall for Ponzi schemes all the time.  Here's a recent one from meatspace in Poland:

Sure, I understand that people fall for them, and there is a gray zone between commonplace returns and what-sort-of-idiot-do-you-take-me-for returns where I can see myself falling for such a scam as well. What baffles me is people who still believe that BTCST wasn't a ponzi. Some of them even appear to have accepted that they will never see a single satoshi, yet they come up with alternative explanations of what could have gone wrong. These are usually accompanied by the statement that no-one can prove that it was a ponzi.

Now, I am not asking for proof that it wasn't a ponzi. I am just asking for evidence. Any single scrap of evidence, however circumstantial. Is there any reason to believe that it was not a ponzi? Is there a single aspect of the scheme or of Pirate's behaviour which is atypical for a ponzi? Or is all of this wishful thinking (even from people who were allegedly not invested in BTCST)? Huh

It is called denial. People want to believe in good things. When something spoils their good beliefs, they desperately search for even the stupidest excuses, so they don't have to stop believing.
636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Its Official Pirate Has Defaulted!! on: September 03, 2012, 04:06:48 PM
Instead of worrying about how to go after people like pirate, how about worrying about how stupid people are to fall for such a thing in the first place?

If you give your money to someone you never met, who won't even tell you how he is investing it, but claims unrealistic returns, than frankly, you deserve to lose your money.
+1 This post pretty much sums up the solution to the whole pirate drama.
637  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pirate & Associates: Please read! (Important) on: September 03, 2012, 04:04:04 PM
HAHAHA... this whole thread...  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Wow. I never thought a ponzi scheme could provide so much fun.
It's like Pirate is the best comedian ever.
638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Simple Analysis on: September 03, 2012, 12:31:08 PM
I thing because they are simple they are somehow self explained Smiley

From what I see, I understand that you use minimum and maximum day prices in certain days (typically in long-time lows and peaks). However, I don't understand how maximum and minimum prices in these days are relevant. You know, sometimes people sell/buy small amounts of bitcoins for much less/more than what market price is.

Care to explain your methods?
639  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 03, 2012, 12:16:58 PM
Pirate: is there a possibility he is already priced in? The scam has become pretty obvious to most by now.

I'm convinced he is priced in, but it is questionable to what extent. People still have some hope to get their investments back and I think he still holds huge number of bitcoins and waits to dump them. One thing is for sure  - Pirate will either pay out, or not pay out. My theory is, that if he pays out, many investors will sell their bitcoins, driving the price down. If he doesn't pay out, FUD will conquer the market + pirate sells bitcoins driving the price down. So according to my theory, the price is going to fall either way. The question is when.

Any thoughts on my hypothesis?
640  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep do you expect the price to fall? on: September 03, 2012, 11:40:50 AM
It's a hypothesis, thus no 100% proof. Still I can imagine that given the long-term optimism on Bitcoin's value some might consider the dip in question one of the last really good opportunities to get in - 'all' in (worth an extra transfer).

Interestingly we're going green right now (48h) so either the theory is:
- simply false
- correct but self-destructing since people are buying in anticipation, effectively erasing any 'all-in' incentives the Tuesday investors might have had to transfer big money.

Well, the price fell during the weekend (it's not 48h). Its rising might be caused by European and Asian investors since there's no Monday holiday. I expect it to rise some more, even though I have no idea what the week's maximum will be. What is your guess?

Also, I'm anticipating a larger crash because of Pirate's default. When is he originally supposed to pay out?
