They will approach you and say something like this: Hey, i have seen you on gambling telegram or in a casinos chat room and i have a deal for you. They offer you an "exploit" that would allow you to win easily but they want 30% in return. They often offer screenshots etc of admin panel and so on.

I remember that there was a post on the forum Blackhatworld, where a guy was explaining how to get more gambling affiliate commissions by promoting such fake "casino exploit" on Telegram. The method was basically the same, but the guy was asking various gamblers to signup to a casino by using his affiliate link and make a deposit. This wasn't a direct scam, but rather a misleading and blackhat way to make money.
I guess that somebody "upgraded" this method by adding fake casino webpages, where the users can "deposit" coins.
That's why I don't trust anyone, who contacts me on social media about gambling/investment offers.

They need to become free.
They need to become frictionless.
They need to become familiar.

Is Paypal free? Is using a bank account free? Why would blockchains have to become free? Is there any payment infrastructure/system, that has zero maintenance costs, therefore there aren't any transaction fees in that system? I don't think so.
Comparing blockchains to Google and Facebook is like comparing apples to bananas. Does Google and Facebook provide financial services?
Does Google and Facebook have their own currencies.
What the hell is a "pay-to-use" blockchain? Are there any blockchains, where the users have to pay an upfront fee, in order to gain access and use the blockchain?
How the replace the transaction fees in the blockchain? This guy is totally incompetent in regards to crypto, but he has opinions about it.
What a joke.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet? on: September 25, 2023, 10:29:17 AM
My journey into Bitcoin was entire due to the need to send payment across borders as there was FX and several other restrictions in my country. So, I joined Bitcoin just to use it for cross-border payment without knowing it could actually be a way of creating wealth in the future.

Just recently, I was tempted to check my first ever Bitcoin wallet to see what I have done in the past. I was so depressed seeing the volume of Bitcoin that have passed through my wallet without me saving a reasonable portion of it.

I have the feeling that many forum users too have similar experience; do kindly share just maybe I can feel a little better knowing that I'm not a lone.

My very first Bitcoin wallet was a Localbitcoins account wallet, which I've created back in 2015. Localbitcoins had to shut down in February 2023, so there's no way for me to visit and see my first BTC wallet(and there's no point for me to do as well).
There's no point of feeling regret about the Bitcoins, which you have spent in the past. Bitcoin was created with the purpose of being sent and received, not hoarded until the price hits the moon. The current state of BTC is a deviation of it's true purpose. Is there anything written in the original Bitcoin whitepaper about HODLing and waiting for the price to hit another ATH, so could sell and get more fiat money? No!
624  Economy / Gambling / Re: - UGA - a Gamblers Union on: September 25, 2023, 06:47:44 AM
What exactly do you suggest?
Creating a website, where the gamblers could gather around and complain about casinos? We already have bitcointalk.org. You can complain about crypto casinos here. You can post a scam accusation in the "Scam accusations" forum. What else do we need?
Do you suggest the gamblers to create some sort of union, with which they could put some pressure over the crypto casinos?
Good luck with this. I don't think that it will happen. The gamblers cannot be united under an idea like this. Most of them will refuse to boycott the scam casinos and will keep gambling on them.
625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Potential events that can initiate next bitcoin rally on: September 25, 2023, 06:03:13 AM
Bitcoin Halving and the possible Bitcoin ETF approval by Blackrock are EVENTS.
Crypto adoption, crypto regulation and what you call "technological advancement" are not events. They are processes.
I'm sure that the BTC halving and the Bitcoin ETF approval(if approved) can cause some hype and even a FOMO phase, but I'm not so optimistic about mass global BTC adoption and the governments making better crypto regulations, which are in favor of Bitcoin(and the altcoins).
I expect the crypto regulatory frame to become even more restrictive and bureaucratic. This will make crypto adoption even harder than it used to be.
What do you mean by "technological advancement" in regards to Bitcoin? Do you really think that the scalability issue will the solved and Bitcoin will become even more user-friendly? I'm not an optimist about this.
626  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 24, 2023, 11:27:30 AM
1.I'm 99% sure that Elon Musk won't keep his promise. He probably forgot about this, or he never had any plans to keep this promise.
2.Even if Tesla accepts BTC payments, do you really believe that thousands of crypto supporters will buy Tesla cars with their BTC? I don't think so. The 2021 price pump was simply a FOMO phase, created by the hype around Musk and Tesla. Every trader was like "Elon is tweeting about Bitcoin. The price must go up. I have to buy BTC now." This created a huge price bubble. I'm sure that the amount of people, who bought Tesla cars with BTC back in 2021 is insignificant.
627  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy is also getting harder for private equity companies on: September 24, 2023, 10:55:26 AM
Remember this link if private equity companies start laying off their employees, or start collapsing on their own weight, https://www.ft.com/content/be9e095f-71b8-402f-a404-1172d6df1fb7

Because from the way I understood it, some of them have started to borrow capital AGAINST their portfolio to lend to the companies that are IN their portfolio.

Nested leverage investing. Roll Eyes

There's nothing wrong with using your own assets(the companies in your portfolio) as a collateral in order to borrow more capital.
The real problem here is the lack of proper risk management.
1.Getting more loans in times of growing interest rates seems financially irresponsible.
2.The financial institutions, that give such loans to private equity companies should be held responsible. I guess that the banks keep acting irresponsible and keep making risky financial decisions because they are "too big to fail" and when "the shit hits the fan", the central banks will always print more money and come and save them.
628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Tax Efficient With Your Gambling Habbits? on: September 24, 2023, 07:19:55 AM

Now I'm quite curious how other gamblers are managing this part of the story, if they manage it at all.

So, question to you, did you ever consider paying taxes on your gambling winnings, or deduct the taxes with the losses you've created? If not, what is the reasoning behind it?

In my country, there's a 10% income tax over gambling winnings. The casinos/sports bet platforms are paying between 15 and 20% revenue tax from all their revenue. So far, I haven't paid any tax over my gambling winnings, because I never had any total winnings. All my small winnings get spend for betting and I lose them eventually. Gambling losses cannot be deducted from the taxes where I live.
Most of the online casinos I use aren't located under the jurisdiction of my country, so I'm not sure whether do I have to pay taxes or not.
Are there any gambling taxes in Quracao or Costa Rica?
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can third-world countries counter inflation using bitcoin? on: September 24, 2023, 06:32:29 AM
Bitcoin alongside other cryptocurrencies has aided the economic development of many countries. Bitcoin is typically used for online transaction and businesses in third world countries despite widespread poverty, this is because people can easily connect to the internet and participate in the crypto economy in many developing countries such as India and continent like Africa have high cryptocurrency adaptation rate. After purchasing bitcoin through platforms accessible to their countries, bitcoin holders in third world countries can trade Bitcoin for profits or hold onto their tokens as an investment. Inflation which is characterised by devaluation of currency alongside increasing price of goods and services, this has made people to turn to cryptocurrency like bitcoin an asset that maintain its value over time to hedge  against inflation.

Bitcoin might be a long term hedge against inflation, but in the short term, Bitcoin definitely isn't a hedge against inflation.
Last year, the inflation levels were very high, but the Bitcoin price dropped down to 15K USD in October 2022.
Bitcoin(and altcoins) received widespread adoption in the underdeveloped countries because of two main factors:
1.Weak national currencies of those countries.
2.High amount of unbanked people, who are excluded from the traditional banking system due to various reasons.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When Gamblers Fail to Read a Casino's Terms and Conditions on: September 22, 2023, 10:19:53 AM
Quote
1. Accuse the casino of trying to scam them.

2. Accuse the casino of unjustly suspending or blocking their account.

3. Accuse the casino of not being transparent because they request KYC that they want to steal their personal information.

4. Accuse the casino of being responsible for ruining their lives and their gambling addiction.

5. Accuse the customer support of being unprofessional.

6. Complain about having issues with withdrawal not realizing that certain wagering or withdrawal conditions might be outlined in the T&C.

7. Accuse the Casino of Rigging Games.

8. Accuse the casino of hidden fees.

9. Express frustrations with the bonus and wagering requirements.

I don't get your point. Are you saying that when a gambler gets scammed by the casino, it's the gambler's fault, because he didn't read the Terms of Service? Is that what you are trying to say? Are you trying to justify scam practices from shady casinos by putting all the blame on the gamblers?
I think that accusing a casino for shady practices has little to do with the casino's Terms of Service. Many casinos have perfect Terms of Service, but they still scam their gamblers. Many casinos can scam a gambler by using perfectly legal excuses, claiming that their ToS were not followed by the gambler.
A casino having rigged games or the customer support being unprofessional are two factors, which have nothing to do with the Terms of Service.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone notice this pattern? on: September 22, 2023, 06:07:23 AM
You are kinda wrong about the 2020 halving.
If I remember this correctly, the Bitcoin price went up to 35K USD in the beginning of 2021, which is several months after the halving. 35K USD was the ATH price back then, but the price broke the record and increased to levels above 59K USD in the spring of 2021, which was the biggest ATH in the history of Bitcoin. You are counting only the highest ATH after the 2020 halving, not the ATH that was before it.
Yes, many people think that Bitcoin is moving in cycle and that there's a price pattern, but this pattern won't continue forever and we shouldn't rely on such predictions all the time. I also believe in a 2025 ATH, but there's no guarantee that it will happen.
632  Economy / Economics / Re: Our future with renewable energy. on: September 21, 2023, 10:17:35 AM
The biggest obstacle towards renewable energy is the Li-Ion batteries. They are used in both electric vehicles and in big batteries, which are used to store renewable energy when the solar panels and wind turbines are working at maximum capacity. Lithium is getting more and more expensive and Lithium mining extremely dirty(not to mention the protest of local people against the creation of new Lithium mines). This will create a Lithium shortage in the future and the price of Lithium will skyrocket. We need a cheaper replacement of Lithium for EV batteries and for big industrial batteries, which could store the electricity produced by solar and wind.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: September 21, 2023, 06:47:15 AM
Bayern Munich totally dominated the game, especially after Onana's mistake for the first goal, but the Bavarian team had problems in defense and received three goals out of nowhere. United is in ruins at this point. Ten Hag has to solve multiple problems and I'm sure that Manchester United most likely won't get out of the Champions League group stage. Harry Kane proves to be the best transfer for Bayern and the best possible replacement of Robert Lewandowski(Mane wasn't a good striker). Jamal Musiala is extremely talented and I think that he will be in the foundation for the future success of Bayern.
634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: September 21, 2023, 06:05:59 AM
It's time to share your experience.
(choose one question and share your thoughts)

1. what helped you blend into this space?

2. tell us how your journey in cripto has been.

 3. what would be your advice to the newbie still trying to figure things out?

4. Did you also have the "get rich quick" mindset. I bet it slowed down your learning process.

1.Reading and posting on this forum in the last 7 years.

2.My journey has been pretty calm and straight forward. Many times I failed at timing the market. I've sold some BTC and the price went up. I panicked several times when I didn't have to. I wasn't scammed with big amounts of BTC. I remember that I got scammed with 100 USD back in 2020 and with 30 USD back in 2017. No big deal. You learn from your mistakes.

3.Don't trust anyone and if something seems too good to be true, if most likely is. Don't panic when the prices go down, because the markets always bounce back.

4.I don't think so. I actually never had such mindset and I think that will never become rich(it doesn't matter if it's quick or slow).
635  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: September 20, 2023, 10:21:09 AM
I have been thinking and trying to analyze what is really causing the high cost of food in Nigeria, I came to realize that monopoly is the major factors, Nigeria government are the enablers. How can one person be the sole major distributor, government should welcome competition in the business sector, every business person should be allowed to produce.

There are three main ways to reduce the price of goods.
1.Reduce money printing from the central bank in order to lower the inflation.
2.Fight monopolies and cartels, which are controlling the market prices.
3.Subsidize the agricultural sector. I'm not a big fan of agricultural subsidies, but most of the countries around the world are going it anyway.
Food prices went thru the roof because of the increased prices of fuel and fertilizers for the farmers. The global climate change also has a negative role. Many regions around the world are suffering from drought, while the fruit and vegetable production of other regions was destroyed by floods and storms.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 20, 2023, 06:12:01 AM
Are free slots even real? I have tried few casinos that offers free spins on registering on the platforms and I haven't seen any crazy gains with free spins before, have you? That's not why I am here though, I am just curious.

The reason why I am here is to know if free spins are like demo too, I asked this because two of my friend including myself open account of a online casino and after using all the free spins we got the same result, around $15, I am curious why, because it looks like a matched up way to keep people hoping for more.

And we know that you have to deposit for wagering because that bonus really become yours, is free spin just another demo like free bonus? That's what I want to know, what is your own experiences like with free spins.

I guess that there's a little bit of misunderstanding about what the word "demo" actually means. Demo is not a bonus. Those are two different terms and they have different meaning.
The demo version is just a way to test the features of a website. I haven't seen online casinos offering a demo version. So far, I have tried several demo versions of day trading platforms.
Free spins are just a bonus offer, that was made to hook more players into a platform. Yes, they are "a matched up way to keep people hoping for more". Do you really expect to win big from free spins? I don't expect to win big money even from paid spins. I'm not a fan of slots in general.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paxos recovers its $500,000 'fat finger' Bitcoin transaction fee on: September 20, 2023, 05:44:08 AM
F2Pool did a great job. They can tap themselves on the back. Grin I wonder if they would have done the same "refund" if the sender was an individual, instead of a company. The Paxos employee, who paid this 20 BTC transaction fee is fired, I guess.
I probably would die from a heart attack, if I send thousands of dollars worth of BTC as a transaction fee by mistake. Grin
Maybe that's why I'm always nervous, when I have to send Bitcoins to someone.

638  Economy / Economics / Re: Use of clean energy in bitcoin mining and its impact on: September 19, 2023, 11:56:22 AM
Quote
This news will have a positive impact throughout the industry, and companies like Tesla are likely to come to the market again as, as Elon previously mentioned, Tesla will accept bitcoin when miners reach the 50% clean energy mark. This will be a major boost for the bitcoin industry.

Institutional investors are mostly concerned about the environmental impact of bitcoin mining. This opens a path for institutional investors to come onboard.

Do you really believe that Elon Musk is going to keep his promise about the "50% mining from clean energy"? I don't think so.
There's always something to criticize about Bitcoin/blockchain/BTC mining. First it was the "environmental pollution" coming from Bitcoin miners. As if all the banks and fiat payment system are using 100% clean energy. The fiat bank/payment systems use energy produced by coal power plants, but nobody is blaming them for this.
Other points where BTC can be criticized are the scalability issue and the volatile nature of Bitcoin. I'm sure that Tesla and the big institutional investors will refuse to buy BTC because of those two main issues of BTC.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No KYC vs KYC enabled casinos (Facts you need to know) on: September 19, 2023, 06:45:14 AM

Improved Security: KYC procedures helps to screen the players and correctly verify their Identity, making it more difficult for fraudsters to use the platform cos they cannot provide verifiable documents easily.

Regulatory Compliance: KYC compels casinos towards adhering to legal and regulatory requirements, reducing considerably the risk of legal issues and concerns.

Responsible Gambling: KYC allows casinos to monitor and instill good gambling practices and protocols, helping to protect vulnerable individuals.

Limiting fraudulent activities: It aids in the prevention of money laundering and other numerous cyber and financial crimes by verifying the source of funds of the players Involved.

Accounts Recovery: In case of losing account information, KYC can assist in account recovery, ensuring players do not loose their hard-earned funds.

KYC casinos have easier account recovery? Are you kidding me? I have heard hundreds horror stories of gamblers being blocked from KYC casinos and with funds in their accounts. There wasn't any account recovery afterwards.
I don't believe that KYC casinos are more secure than the non-KYC casinos. KYC gives a false sense of security, but the possibility of getting scammed by the casino remains. I agree that KYC reduces the amount of fraudsters and helps against money laundering, but the overall experience for all gamblers is worse. There can't be 100% safety, security and privacy in the online gambling industry.
640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They sent me btc to my wallet they were available and then they disappeared! on: September 19, 2023, 06:01:41 AM
I bought an amount of BTC from a stranger and made my payment in cash! I checked to see if the BTC was available and if they were, after a day they just disappeared. Does somebody know anything about this? What happened? What is this situation called or something like that?

Payment in cash? You mean that you have actually met the stranger in person and you gave him paper cash?
How does he look like? You could call the police and tell them about this scam. You could describe how the stranger looked like and police might try to find him. Can you post screenshots of your Bitcoin wallet? What kind of BTC wallet are you using?
Is there an outgoing transaction in your BTC wallet(BTC sent to another address, not received)? Were the coins transferred to another BTC address or they are just missing?
