I am not sure if I've written this already, but we are not planning any exit scam. (that's what everyone says)

"The site can earn more long term than with a dirty exit scam" -- I am optimistically expecting the site to grow and have a decent return, that's why we built it in the first place. If it doesn't get enough traction, I'll probably move to something else. But it's not math that convinces me that exit scam is a bad idea.
- First of all, it was never my or Scott's intention just to run away with the money.
- Second, although we do not expose our identities online, we are not hiding it too deep either. All domains and servers are registered with real names, paid by credit cards linked to legit bank accounts. For a person motivated enough it's not impossible to find out who we are, therefore if we ran away with the money I expect someone would try to find out what happened.
- Third, I believe everyone should be suspicious and always take into account that even most reputable sites can fail.
- Fourth, I believe being honest is a good long-term strategy. I didn't fail me and I want to stick to it.

Exit scams happened so often in the Bitcoin world it's natural to question Bitcoin-related businesses. I would be careful too, it's just a part of a common sense in Bitcoin survival guide. Even fully-legit, theoretically "safe" sites fail.

I agree with Dooglus about investing with x10 leverage - you can deposit only 1/10 of your funds and invest with x10, it's safer and gives you the same share in site profit. Just your investment is more sensitive to site profit variance and can get closed if someone wins big. Actually most of investments are x10 now. Some people asked us for even larger leverages, but I thing x10 is max we can reasonably offer.

Other than that, it's hard to convince everyone you are not going to scam them. Other than that, I am really positively surprised by first (positive) reactions and how the site grows! I owe you!

Cheers!

I love gambling at your site and also like the feature of instant payments I only had one problem is it possible to remove that fees because if you see it in terms of competition most of the sites don't take fees and also withdraws instantly.

Hi,

since our site operates on small margin I cannot see a way to offer free instant withdrawals. An everage tx fee we send is ~0.0003 BTC and we have already processed over 1.5k withdrawals. I don't think it's in the interest of investors to sponsor withdrawals. On the other hand, I am thinking about less expensive withdrawal option, see discussion few pages back.

Regarding site earnings -- indeed the site spendings (on affiliates, giveaways etc.) are larger now than what it theoretically earns, but:

1. we are also investors in the site and this gives us some extra funds (we invest at lower leverages to provide a stable base for the bankroll, so earnings are not as large as some people think),
2. I am totally OK with having little or even no profit until the YD gets more players/investors etc.

Cheers,
Ethan

PS. Check out our Wagering Contest if you haven't: https://yolodice.com/#stats/scores . It's getting interesting.

I confirm this is legitimate, Kiritsugu is working in tangent with us for this competition.

I think it's: cheaper withdrawals, banners and autobetter then. I will keep you updated about the progress!

Just a quick question - do you think the whole player panel needs a redesign? I am collecting opinions :-)

What to work on next?

Here's the update on the last "what to work on next"? question:

✓ night mode theme - done
✓ expose API - initial release - done (it was a lot of work actually)
× .onion address - not this time

I have pushed countless minor improvements and fixes too.

Here are a few ideas from our users I would like to explore this week:

* "cheaper withdrawal" option - you could either request an immediate withdrawal (1 withdrawal = 1 transaction, immediate, as it is now) or schedule a withdrawal for the next batch (1 transaction = N withdrawals, sent within few hours max).
* a rainbot (tips active chat users) and chat-based games (a trivia bot that asks non-trivial questions?)
* redesign the autobetter - people find current "hooks" difficult and I agree, this can be done better and easier
* API (script) examples - almost-ready to use scripts to run (e.g. to play martingale)
* banners to promote YD
* private tips - right now all tips are publicly announced in chat. a private tip would not get a notification in chat.

Tell me what you think
Cheers,
Ethan

It would be nice to see info about open/close dates of our investments so we don't have to write it down manually. Some other sites offer even more details, like profit charts for example.

Hi,

there are no profit charts for individual investors, but there are quite detailed site profit stats at https://yolodice.com/#stats/investor . These include 1d, 1h and 15m profit candle charts, amounts wagered and as many public data about investment structure we could compile.

On the other hand, open/close dates of individual investments are available. Just do this on your https://yolodice.com/#invest page:

1. If you want to see already closed investments, check the "include closed investments" checkbox,
2. Click any investment you want more info about.

Here are the pics:

Hope this helps! Cheers,

API is OUT!
Play YOLOdice like a Pro :-)

I am really glad to announce that API I've been working on is finally out! And it's working pretty good.

Why

API opens a way to create bots and alternative ways of playing. API also allows fetching public data, making deposits/withdrawals. In the future I want API to support tipping, chat, investments.

Is it faster?

Both yes and no. Without the overhead of your browser and with the power of unperturbed TCP+SSL communication with our servers it's definitely faster. On the other hand, the information travel time (ping) seems to be far more important now.

Earlier today I was able to get 14 bets/s from my home connection and over 50 bets/s from the server located in the same datacenter as YOLOdice.

Where do I start?

If you want to explore API, here are a few resources:

* https://dev.yolodice.com/ - our API documentation site
* https://github.com/ethan-nx/yolodice-client - my reference Ruby client, ready to use, just install as a gem

Is it safe to use?

Watch out! There can be occasional bugs or errors, so it's still safer to create a separate account to play with API.

I am not a programmer

You might want to wait until other people start contributing scripts or bots. I hope DiceBot can support YD in the near future.

If you cannot wait, here is a simple example you could use to bootstrap your own bot:

Code:
require 'yolodice_client'
require 'pp'

auth_key = 'USE_YOUR_OWN_KEY'
yd = YolodiceClient.new
yd.connect
user = yd.authenticate auth_key
user_data = yd.read_user_data selector: {id: user['id']}
puts "Your account balance is: #{user_data['balance']} satoshis."
10.times do
  b = yd.create_bet attrs: {amount: 100, range: 'lo', target: 500000}
  puts "Bet profit: #{b['profit']}"
end
user_data = yd.read_user_data selector: {id: user['id']}
puts "Your account balance is: #{user_data['balance']} satoshis."

Take a look at our Ruby client page to see how to generate your auth key.

Tell me what you think! Cheers,
Ethan

Hi, just a quick update:

1. Yesterday our servers were a bit laggy and I am sorry for this. It looks like some of database queries were not optimized. I have improved performance of some of the operations, e.g. generating user profit graphs should be much faster now (especially if user has more then 10,000 bets

2. I had to increse the withdrawal fee to from 20ks to 30k satoshis (0.0003BTC). We really want all the outgoing transactions to be confirmed withn a few blocks (and not hang for 12 hours), but with the mempool being stuck so often recently we often pay fees much higher than what we charge our players, we want to make it a bit more close to that we pay. Good thing is that we might add low-fee batch/group withdrawals in the near future.

Cheers,
Ethan

Nice to see the site keep growing and better improvement.
Want ask about rain , is it possible for raining specific people ?

Yes, just use /tip command to rain multiple people, e.g. to tip me and Scott you could do:
Code:
/tip 1,2 0.1
where 1,2 - these are my and Scott's IDs, 0.1 is how much you want to split between us. Although I think it's a very fine example, I am affraid you will want to change the parameters :-)

Also what about a faucet that levels up based on the a out you have waged ?

Take the look at our FAQ: https://yolodice.com/#faq , there is a question "How much does the faucet drop?". Clearly the amounts dropped depend you your wagered amount and can reach 0.00003 BTC (3k satoshis).

Cheers,
Ethan

Oh, cool, now they are "creatively copying" other site signatures: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1780849.0

Compare these two:

Now, I am really happy you like the signature I designed for my own website, YOLOdice, but I cannot remember anyone asking me for a permission to use it.

I request you to remove this design immediately.

Where is my payment for last week, i have kept signature till post count and also sent PM to signature manager that now i am leaving this campaign.

Please check it, i think i should be paid for last week when i was wearing signature for full week. I haven't left in middle.

Hi,

I am sorry, this is my fault, I must have missed your payment when going through the spreadsheet. I have just sent you the payment.

Just to let you know, I have been working on an API and it's almost ready for a public preview. If you want to take a quick look at the specs, here they are:

Note it's still a work-in-progress, but I hope with a Ruby client (to be released this week) it would be possible to gamble a few coins pretty soon.

Is there an option or maybe add an option to increase the fee by the player if he wants to ensure it will be fast?
There is no such option available at this moment. YoloDice is using flat 0.0002 transaction fee for every withdrawal.

Actually we pay the fee that our bitcoin node suggests us, we only charge the user the flat fee. The node is configured to set fees to pretty standard fees and most outgoing transactions make it into the next 2 blocks.

I much more often hear people complaing that 0.0002 is too high than that the actual fee is too small. But indeed, having 2 withdrawal options looks smart:

1. Instant withdrawal (single transaction), with a fee, submitted immediately,
2. Batch withdrawal (grouping multiple withdrawals into one transaction) with a minimal fee (or maybe even free?), maybe twice a day.

I think it would make everyone much happier, what do you think?

The payments are sent (except for Mike Mayor, I think there is an error in the spreadsheet, I will send you your payment once we resolve it).

Question about transaction fees for withdrawing - do you plan to add more options with larger fees for faster withdrawing? It could be really helpful in some situations. As I understand, right now it's a flat 0.0002 BTC for all withdrawals.

It would be nice addition for yolodice, nowadays many dice sites offers this feature which is very useful for players so that they can get faster confirmation when they set higher fees especially for bigger withdrawal amount.

They should just make this just like Bitsler. Last months there is so now and then a very large queue unconfirmed transactions. if that happens you definitely want to set a higher fee.

Hi,

regarding the withdrawal fees - the actual network fee we include in outgoing transactions are chosen so that the transaction is included in 2-4 next blocks. Most on the withdrawals are included in the very next block that comes. 0.0002 is just a flat fee we charge the users, our goal is approximately 0.0006 per KB so that a transaction does not hang in mempool too long. I am actually thinking about increasing the flat fee a bit because we spend more on network fees than we get in these fees :-)

I was thinking about batch withdrawals with a smaller fee (or even free), but we do not have enough volume just yet. Once we hit at least 10 withdrawals per hour, then we can introduce this option.

Want to ask something.

I'm usually play high risk high reward ( low chance of winning ) so I'm decide to AFK at some time.
When I'm back , I'm realized that I hit 999x and I want look my bet ID that made me win because if I see my bet tab, the longer bet will stack down.

Is there any way to track it down ?

Hi,

it is currently not possible in user interface. However, you could do the following:

1. go to your seeds page at https://yolodice.com/#seeds,
2. locate the seed that was used to generate the bet,
3. if it's the current seed, create the new seed to make the current one ready for verification
4. click on the seed, then "Verify bets" button,
5. now download the complete list of bets rolled with this seed.

You can import the list into Excel or OpenCalc, it's just a CSV file. Locate the bet by it's profit. The format of bets in CSV file is:

Code:
BET_ID - internal ID of a bet
NONCE - nonce of a bet
ROLLED - result of a bet
TARGET - numerical target of a bet
RANGE - 'lo' or 'hi'
AMOUNT - amount of a bet
PROFIT - profit of a bet

Hope this helps! Cheers,
Ethan
