Donator or vip member got more stars too? (coins below the nick)
They always have five coins, regardless of their post counts. No one will ever have more than five stars, as it looks odd. I was thinking of using some other star image for donators/VIPs, but I couldn't think of anything that fits with the concept as well as coins. I could change the color to "platinum", but that might seem like a demotion from gold to silver. (And I don't want to change the images for normal users.)

I don't perceive it as being overly slow. Sometimes the server is doing things that cause it to become slow for a few minutes, but on average it seems to be acceptably fast.

Would you mind elaborating on this? My vague recollection is that is could result in delays in downloading the block chain, but a more detailed explanation would be helpful. thx
0.3.20-0.3.23 have a bug where they refuse to upload the full block chain to anyone, which makes block downloading very slow for other people. This was caused by a limit that was supposed to protect against certain denial of service attacks. Older versions don't have this buggy limit, but they don't have DoS protection, either.

Thanks to the first 10-BTC donator: Narydu. So 10 gets green now?
Yes, donators are green in the "users online" area, and VIP members are violet. (These are my favorite two colors. )

It's in "Forum Profile Information". I blanked it for you.

"A" records have a higher Just Works(tm) value, even if we are forced to compromise and hardcode port 8333.
It also wouldn't be too difficult to brute-force all port numbers if none of the peers support 8333 (which probably indicates that the ISP is blocking 8333).

Edit: Outdated
Recently, there were two cases where I either released IP addresses of scammers or threatened to. In both of these cases, it was extremely plain that the accused people were guilty because they were both scamming on multiple accounts at the same IP addresses.
However, I have since received many requests to release the personal info of other alleged scammers. I have rejected all of these requests. These cases all required me to decide whether someone is guilty based on evidence that is not so clear-cut. I refuse to do this: the board will not arbitrate disputes.
So do not ask me to release IP addresses unless one of these statements is true: - The accused person has admitted guilt - The accused person is scamming on multiple accounts at the same IP addresses. (Obviously you can't determine this, but you can ask me.) - You have compiled mountains of evidence that the person is guilty, and the person has been given several weeks to respond to the allegations (because you've posted a topic about it and you've PMed the person), and you have a global moderator or other very trusted person second your request. (Have the trusted person contact me to make the request.)
Otherwise I will probably just ignore these requests, as arguing with people about it is taking up too much of my time.
Reminder: The board is not here to protect you from scammers. Use escrow and arbitration.

You should not accept incoming connections if you are using 0.3.20-0.3.23, as these versions are harmful to the network. Older versions are OK for the network, though your node may be vulnerable to denial of service attacks.

I just seen the "News: Please donate!". I can't donate 10 BTC, but I will donate 1 BTC to show my appreciation, I'm mining off one card, and trying to save for a second card, even one btc is hurting me.
Sending, just for record it will be from 12NcNYb2oEh6ANo95AakEjPqQdgbcxh4m9 .
Thanks a lot! Any amount helps.

If you donate 10 BTC (which pays for about a month of hosting), you get donator status: If you donate 50 BTC, you get VIP status, which allows you to set a custom title: This is not (yet) automatic: you need to PM me before donating. See the new donation page for more details. This is part of an effort to make the forum self-sustaining. If donations alone are not enough, a few auctioned-off text ads will probably be added.

OK, I created it because the alternate cryptocurrencies might be of interest to Bitcoin users. However, this forum remains the Bitcoin Forum. I will definitely not create subsections there: the other currencies should get their own forums.

ThiagoCMC is now the moderator of the Portuguese section. He'll decide whether any subsections are necessary.

Satoshi uses British English and inserts two spaces between sentences. Does Paco Ahlgren?

Is it safe to assume that Zem is also Ceejay? they used the same, non-masked IP.
Probably. Theymos, i would check user Faded too. I can't find it.

Theymos has the biggest key... A shorter version is available. The long version includes all of the signatures.

Theymos, can you shed some light on whether or not Jake is skyliner?
The IP evidence shows that Jake is probably not skyliner or Zem.
|
|
|
theymos, what will be the consequences if he doesn't pay back?
I will release his IP addresses and other account information if he disappears without paying everyone back. People familiar with his scams should notify those people who have been scammed.
