Looks like Gox, Does it mean they have trouble finding international banking partners ? Haha, that actually makes sense. I mean, a good precautionary measure against a sudden and violent drop in USD value would be to start applying limits to the transactions. You don't want to get caught in a situation where you accept a giant burning pile of USD at the last possible second before it explodes in your face. I think that is right. A sudden devaluation could catch a bank with their pants down. Talk about exposure!

Posts? What about whole threads? I was viewing a thread this afternoon which had maybe only 4-5 replies. After reading through I went to comment and the thread had been deleted? It had only been active for 20 minutes at most, and nothing in there violated the t&c's whatsoever. A youtube video link and a few comments on it. Seems to be a few oddity's and discrepancy's cropping up since the 'hack'....Just saying I don't know about the thread you are referencing, but some of the links i see here are clickjackers. Perhaps that is why it was deleted?

I like environmentalists and feminists. Here in Madison everyone I meet is one or the other, or both.

I can't wait to see who is coming next.
The last time someone said that, Eternal September happened. lol

Thank you for the responses! In the future, I will make sure I give a welcome that informs or answers a question. I have been a mod for a video game forum and feel for the mods here. Who are doing a good job, by the way.

Could a mod/admin recommend a way to welcome new users without violating the TOS? I often say welcome or hello to newbies. It is good to welcome them and I would not want to end the practice. Would a longer welcoming response do the trick?

I think you are on to something interesting. In the three years I have been here I have watched several new waves of immigration. Initially it was hackers and math geeks giving way to fiscally political libertarians. More recently, serious investors have shown up. Using BTC as a financial instrument. Currently I see a lot of more mainstream Internet users arriving. Each group has contributed something to the bitcoin culture that has evolved. I can't wait to see who is coming next.

I think selling to a trusted member is the way to go. You may also want to have someone stand in the middle and provide escrow service. That should cost 1% or less, but may be worth it.

Ah, so it's good-bye money then. Why people make unsecured loans is just beyond me.

So, min0r did you get your 2000% repayment?

I'm on the lookout for a new exchange. Anyone here use CampBX? If so, how do you like it? I'm looking for a place that: - 1. uses money orders / bank transfers. I don't mind identity checks, but I would not like to wait 30+ days for an inefficient system.
- 2. Is based in the USA, with sufficient volume.
I'm also open to other suggestions.

The Orch-OR model has pretty much been discredited Orch OR is no longer considered a good candidate for a quantum source of consciousness. In 2009, Jeffrey Reimers et al. showed that coherent Fröhlich condensates, the states Hameroff and Penrose implicated as the basis of Orch OR, could not exist in biological tissue. They found that coherent Fröhlich condensates of the sort required by Orch OR would require temperatures of between several thousand to several million kelvins, an environment not possible in biological tissue. If the energy required to keep the oscillators in a coherent state for the required 500 ms came from a chemical source, it would require the energy equivalent of a C-C bond being formed or broken every picosecond. The GTP mechanism proposed by Hameroff and Penrose would require the hydrolysis to GDP of approximately 4 or 5 GTP molecules every picosecond, a phenomenon that does not appear to occur in biological systems.
Not so fast. lol They have not hit it on the head, but considering how little we know about quantum weirdness they may still be onto something. Recent findings include the discovery of "ordered" water in plants. That is consistent with a quantum tangling event. And quantum effects are now being spotted in bird migration and photosynthesis. It may turn out to be nothing. still, something we don't understand is behind life. Quantum effects may play a role. We live in amazing times!

Soon they'll realize that Bitcoin is the only thing that can become a fair world currency. What can any state come up with that Bitcoin can't do?
Yes, and who would trust a state run currency that is supposedly independent? Only open source can be trusted. If bitcoin were not open, I would not even consider using it.

Whatever you think Rodger Penrose was trying to say, it was not an argument for intelligent design. I have spoken with him and I assure you he is a devout atheist. He does have some very interesting thoughts about consciousness and the "living state" of matter. Below is a link to the work he did with Stuart Hameroff. Mind-blowing stuff! I think they are onto something that could explain what life is. http://www.quantumconsciousness.org/penrose-hameroff/orchOR.html

you are probably right it is doomed to fail but not for the reason you mentioned.
imho here is why
1. reliance on internet. if some global cataclysm happens it might dissolve. for example what if governments start to tax any traffic that goes across the border? or something similar happens.
2. no solution for growth. there is no even talk about getting rid of having to store all the transaction on each node's medium. how can it grow when there is no space to grow into?
3. big players will never adopt bitcoin because they will never rely on a handful of individuals who control the source code. even though adepts claim bitcoin to be decentralized, most (all?) crysises were solved by centralized authority that de-facto controls the source code emission.
1. Yep. If the internet goes, so does bitcoin. I don't see how a "border" tax could work however. Your google search for a local barber could cross into many countries. 2. There are many solutions to this "problem". Wallet software does not have to DL the entire blockchain. Mainstream wallets of the future may be cloud based or use pruned trees instead of the whole chain. 3. Huh? There is no center. Do you mean the qt wallet? You could write your own software and not answer to anyone. The protocol is open source and anyone can use it however they wish. Gavin and his team are looked to because they have been at it for years, but anyone can trump them if they have something better.

I'm curious how intelligent design advocates view other human ancestors and relatives? At times, as many as five or more species of humans lived together. What is the intelligence that leads a creator to create many hominids then kill off all but one? Were these other people-like animals not worthy of worshiping the creator? And why wait so long to create humans? Why wait billions of years?
