After careful consideration, I will be increasing interest payments to 50% YEARLY. This is 0.137% interest DAILY. Will be updating OP and main site shortly! Now I hope this is a good reason to use SpeedCoin as a savings account, other coins can't match this kind of network speed, interest rate and flexibility No changes need to be made on your side, it's all done from mine! Keep mining happily! Sounds good!

That makes the coin even more worse... Why didn't you just implement POS besides the POW, so there won't be a premine POW like in the OP (max 1 million coins) and POS (5% annualy) I don't get it. There is no advantage of your premine... The advantage is that with POS you need to burn your coins and keep your wallet software open. You don't need to do that with SpeedCoin, you simply deposit or mine SpeedCoin at ANY address, and without even needing to keep your wallet open you gain interest payments. You save electricity and use less computer resources. --------------------------- By the way, there is a new feature that is available in SpeedCoin to allow you to check the balance of any address directly from SpeedCoin-QT and SpeedCoind! Run SpeedCoin with the -addrindex and -reindex parameters. This creates an index of address transactions. It's used for tracking confirmed balances of any wallet address. Once SpeedCoin wallet software has started with those two parameters, you then gain access to the searchrawtransactions RPC command which lists the balance for any SpeedCoin address. No blockchain explorer needed! This can be entered at the Debug Window or on the SpeedCoin-cli program while running the wallet software! Enjoy! Nice features! I actually think this is quite an interesting coin.

Speedcoin has now been added to MiningPool.co https://www.miningpool.coVardiff Stratum 1% Fee Amazon EC2 Stratum Server 5 Minute Payouts For those of you who already use the pool enable Speedcoin via your settings page. Happy mining! Oh cool this is great thanks, i already used mininpool.co before. BTW, my hashrate is only 85mh/s on the site but on cgminer its 1.5 - 1/6 Gh/s (the normal for my miner) Is this normal? or am i definitely receiving a lot less than i should? It takes a little while for the system to see enough shares over time to calculate your correct mining speed. I see now your miner is reporting at just under 1.4 GH/s. You get credited for your full speed as soon as you start mining, it just takes a little while for the stats to catch up.

Has anyone received a payout since the last outage? I have been mining over a week and no payout. I updated my payment address since the outage. I tried contacting the site admin via BitMessage but so far no reply, just a message received ack.
Hi - Payouts are working as expected. We only pay out when a block is found as we pay on a proportional system not PPS. If the pool does not find a block then there are no payouts until one is found. Because you have been mining Litecoin on the pool and there is only (approx.) 3000KH/s on the Litecoin pool a block has not been found since you started mining on the pool (infact a Litecoin block has not been found for weeks). Sorry, but that is the way it is. I think we will remove the Litecoin pool when / if the next block is found as the difficulty is just way to high for the small amount of hash powe the pool has.

I have been working on the fork to PoS (no small task) and also on looking into viable and cost effective forestry related certified carbon offsetting schemes out there, of which there are a big variety.
That is excellent news. Keep up the good work! +1

The ANN thread states that every 1M CARB, 0.015 BTC or 0.5 LTC donated to the fund will result in 1 tree being planted, which will grow for at least 100 years offsetting approximately 1000kg of Carbon Dioxide. The forum thread says this will happen once 1% of CARB (160m) reaches the fund, and that it will then slowly be dumped in increments of no more than 1m in order to raise awareness, keep the market stable, etc.
Okay, thanks. Just donated 2,000,000 to fund address. Also, we could do with some more hash power on Carboncoin at https://www.miningpool.co

If all of you gave 1m (preferably 5m), the 1% target would be reached and the coin can begin to move into the mainstream, which is what you want right? The infrastructure of this coin needs to grow, and a commitment to the coin and its carbon neutral aspirations needs to come from the mining community to make this coin a success, achieve our environmental goals and make your mining worthwhile.
Happy to donate but I have a couple of questions first. Can you explain what the fund will be used for? Will the fund be dumped at some point to fund fiat projects relating to this coin? That surely would not be beneficial for the price of Carboncoin.

I expect the system and website to be back online within a couple of hours.
A full update of what happened will be posted once everything is back online and secure.
Anyone who logged in to the website in the last 12 or so hours is very strongly advised to change their passwords on other websites if they use the same password as they used on the MiningPool.co website.
Well I've just started my miner on the MegaCoin pool, and it's received a connection and now it is mining at full throttle again.. I suspect you've fixed the issue with the pools? The site is still offline of course, I'm just presuming that all that I mine now, will still be taken into account when the site comes back online? Yes, all stratum servers are back online and shares are now being processed and will be paid as usual. It seems, at this stage, the coins lost were relatively small in number so the pool will be able to cover all losses. Payments are still on hold until I can re-credit accounts that were affected - writing a script to do that now. Once that is done website will go back on line. Please note all password and payment addresses needed to be reset as the attacker was able to 'sniff' passwords and changed users payout addresses once he logged into their accounts. As we have no way of knowing what passwords and / or payout addresses have been compromised decided it would be safest to reset both so attacker cannot login to accounts that were compromised and threshold payments don't go to the attackers addresses. I know its a major pain in the ass but better than losing more coins.

I just wanted to take the time and tell you that your pool is superb. The reaction time to the OpenSSL Heartbleed was quick, and I trust the repair is of the highest priority.
Your pool is fantastic, and I just wanted to let you know how appreciative I am of all your hard work.
Thank you. Luckily the damage appears to be small in terms of coins lost, which is the most important thing. I expect the system and website to be back online within a couple of hours. A full update of what happened will be posted once everything is back online and secure. MiningPool.co has been taken offline!
We have discovered a security breach. At first glance we believe the security issue to be related to the Openssl 'heartbleed' vulnerability disclosed today.
Luckily the issue was caught very quickly. The damage could have been ALOT worse.
An intruder was able to withdraw a relatively small amount of coins from the pool.
Please expect extended downtime as we investigate further and make sure the system is safe to go back online.
Sincere apologies for the delays.

Just to predict the troll, these images are taken with a very wide angle lense making the trees, actually over a metre apart and planted by professional foresters, seem closer together than they actually are. I am also informed by the landowner that the firm contracted for the planting have since returned to weed and stand up the ones which had toppled. Hope this is sufficent.
Great idea / project / coin. Ignore the trolls. Looking forward to seeing this coin grow.
