To compete with current payouts from bonds he needs to build a 6 TH/s farm quite fast from 0... Roll Eyes

I personally see this going nowhere.

From 1 GH. His farm needs to increase by a factor of 6000. I agree with you on the second part.

Oh wow, that changes everything of course! Roll Eyes

No, but it seemed necessary to correct. I want Diablo to address this.

Does staff around here get some discounts on silkroad or something?! Tongue

ROFL. You be trolling.

Anyways, this sounds like the facebook of mining companies!

I don't approve of Facebook, but it seems to be doing alright. Wink How are these two similar?
642  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Rastamine - 2.5 Gh/s perpetual mining bond on: April 21, 2012, 12:11:25 AM
Verified: Email Address. IPO launched before any demonstrated interest, clarification of contract, references, or community feedback. No response to important queries (plans in case of emergency, pictures of rigs, etc). Both an email and stats on a pool are easy to fabricate or rent. So far, you have provided no tangible proof of identity, not answered serious questions, and launched without fixing or addressing any of these problems.

Starting to smell like mackerel to me...
643  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [RAFFLE] 50Gh 1 week mining contract - 7 days left! on: April 21, 2012, 12:05:58 AM
I'm going to guess that at least one of those people will be you, once all the tickets are added up. Wink

You must risk to be rewarded!  Wink

We are offering up part of our normal mining incomes to have some fun and make a profit. Only time will tell if this venture is fruitful.

To be honest, I suspect this will be a losing venture, but kudos for trying it in any case.

At first, I was going to say obvious troll thread is obvious, but then I see that the company is actually listed on GLBSE. Now all I have to say is lol.

20 BTC for some elaborate trolling isn't necessarily too high a price to pay.

15 BTC.
646  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 6850s on: April 20, 2012, 11:46:58 PM
~$100 for a 6850 is a good deal IMO, but I'm not looking for GPUs right now...

Thank you.  Sold one on eBay, hopefully the others will too so I can get my 7970s Smiley

Well, best of luck to you!
647  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) on: April 20, 2012, 11:46:00 PM
How many GH/s does your mining operation currently have and how much should 1 share (out of how many) cost?

As a benchmark: 1 MH/s 100% PPS "forever" bonds currently are traded between 30 and 40 Bitcents.

Currently, less than 1 GH/sec. I'm obviously building this from the ground up.

There will be 1 million shares forever (I will not seek to ever create more), but I would like to get 1BTC each for them. Yes, I'm aware thats about 1/8th of currently circulating Bitcoins.

With all due respect, how on earth do you expect to raise this much?
648  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Introducing: Bitcoin Syndicate, a new mining op trading publicly! on: April 20, 2012, 11:44:03 PM
Syndicate hashrate down from ~12 GH to ~3. What's going on?
649  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANNOUNCE GLBSE] 1500 PPT.A Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: April 20, 2012, 11:35:19 PM
I have never thought it needed before for anyone but can this guy get banned? Spamming every thread is over the top.

This forum has generally upheld a policy of leniency on bans, I don't think this is severe enough.

MPOE, with that said, please have at least some slight bit of decency. Your thread is near the top, everyone can see it just fine. Please refrain from filling other threads with spam and slander.

There's a ton of airflow, so it's quite close to outside air temperature.  Lately it's been in the 50's F and 40's at night.  Inside it might be like 60-65F

That's very impressive. Nice job with your facility!
651  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Something is wrong with my Nvidia on: April 20, 2012, 11:29:52 PM
Ofcourse there's something wrong with it, and I can tell you what: It's a freakin' Nvidia, that's what's wrong!

Too bad 3DFX went defunct.

Think of where we would be if they were still here.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/19/amd-reports-net-loss-of-590-million-for-q1-2012-calls-that-so/

Looks like AMD is the new 3DFX on the block ?

Crap CPUs and shitty VGAs ( gaming wise ).

We need someone better than the idiots at AMD to prevent a Intel / Nvidia monopoly in the future Undecided

Really, ever since the good days of the Athlon 64, Intel's been competing with itself. AMD competes in the low-budget market, and does a decent job there, but when it comes to serious computing they can't hold a candle to Intel. But this is irrelevant - AMD's never really threatened Intel's market share. What Intel really has to worry about is ARM, which it has not yet come up with anything equivalent to in terms of performance per watt.

Graphics-wise, they're doing better. I think Nvidia's decision to ignore GPGPU with the 6xx series is shortsighted. While it may give them more profits now, GPUs are becoming less and less necessary for gaming, with integrated graphics continuing to improve. Nvidia can't come close to AMD in GPU compute performance, and I suspect that will begin to matter more in the coming years.

That was convoluted, but my point is that a monopoly is unlikely. Desktops are losing popularity in all but serious computing environments, and in those AMD has an advantage GPU-wise. That financial report isn't positive by any means, but it also includes a good amount of one-time costs and such. It's not yet time to doomsay.

5870's react very well to undervolting, however finding the otimal settings can and will take long, each card is an individual. I for one am running two with the following settings (I trust these to be spot on with my miner/kernel and other mining conditions, including electricity price, difficulty, exchange rate...):
 #1 core 872Mhz, memory 200Mhz, core voltage 1.000 for 376Mhs
 #2 core 927Mhz, memory 200Mhz, core voltage 1.000 for 395Mhs

You can also go as low as 0.95v on 5870's but I havent started tweaking at that voltage yet, propably will when the block reward gets halved.. depending on the exchange rate and difficulty ofc.

Thanks, that's quite useful. I'll see what I can do.
653  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: April 20, 2012, 03:18:06 PM
BAMT "from the box" does not work with 6900 series? Sytem sees them ok, but BAMT - not. ((

Please clarify. Exactly what do you mean by "system sees them" but "BAMT - not"?

What utility are you using to see them, and what utility won't see them?

Many, if not all, of my BSOD's have been the result of Catalyst Control Center. It took me a week to figure it out, I will never install it again.

CCC is in the top half a percent of the detestable software list, easily. Maybe even the top tenth of a percent.

What you really should do: Install Linux.

What will fix your problem, if you refuse to do the above, but leave you still with a horrible OS:

(stop once you've fixed the problem)

1. Try cgminer or Phoenix. (really, they're better than DiabloMiner anyway)
2. Uninstall any related drivers (all the way) and reinstall them.
3. Test cards one by one.
4. If your cards are good, test slots, one by one.
5. Test your PSU in a different machine, with an equivalent load.
6. Same with motherboard, CPU, and RAM.
7. Test your AC outlet for reversal of voltage.
8. Slam your computer really hard against the ground while balancing a teacup full of double-strength Earl Grey upon your nose and vehemently chanting G-minor cries of vengeance against the Universe if whatever deity of technology you may or may not believe in doesn't make it work right now.

To stop the inevitable questions, of course I know how AC works. I'm curious how many people don't.

404 error.
658  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Post Your Mining Rig Efficiency on: April 20, 2012, 04:45:07 AM
PSU: OCZ 1250W 80 Plus Gold
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
GPU: 5 x 5870 (ref) @ 950/300, stock V
CPU: C2D e8500
Fans: 3

Power @ Wall: ~990W
MH/s: ~2150
MH/s per Watt:: ~2.2

Taking clocks down doesn't drop power consumption significantly...

Any idea how much undervolting would do?

659  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Something is wrong with my Nvidia on: April 20, 2012, 04:38:06 AM
The same cannot be said of the new 680's. Quiet, ~30c idle, ~50c load. Grin

And entirely useless for mining. Temps don't matter if you're paying more per MH than the highest-priced FPGAs...
660  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7870 mining speed, over 430 Mhash/s ?! on: April 20, 2012, 04:35:36 AM
Quit pushing your product so hard on people. It's like gay people trying to "recruit" you.
Because ANYTHING is better than guiminer.
Is this really true? I found guiminer to the very easy to setup and use. I haven't checked out the software forum much, what's the most efficient miner for the HD5000 series?
DiabloMiner if you are a java fan, and cgminer if you like C. cgminer is my preference, and not just for speed but also for configuration and useability. I have 4 backup pools set, and all kinds of overclocking and overvolting options set, using only one program - cgminer.

This argument seems to pop up in half the threads in this subforum.

Just run Phoenix on BAMT. Learn a little Linux, set it, forget it. Fast, stable, and a lot easier to maintain.
