Ive been looking at how much mega hash certain cards can produce and I noticed that if the price were to be cut for retail versions they would be worth investing in. My question is how often do ati cards drop in price and when can we possibly expect to see a change in price?
Don't. I don't want any further difficulty increases.
Although I don't want to get difficulty increases now is probably the best time to invest in hardware because the difficulty has calmed down and expected income in a months time is much more predictable.
How has difficulty calmed down? The latest estimate from bitcoincharts is below and whenever we have just raised difficulty it is calm but we get close to changing difficulty it shoots up again.
Difficulty 1379223 Estimated 1538991
When I say calmed I mean its not going up by 50%. This is only about an 11% increase which when you look at previous increases in the last month is very low.

If you want the cheapest mobo you can get Id recommend just going with the cheapest mobo a well known brand offers. Just keep in mind most gpu's take up two spots so the pci express cant be right on top of each other. However if you ever plan to expand to more then 2 cards id recommend something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130274&Tpk=13-130-274
The reason being the pci express slots are spaced out quite a bit which makes 4 gpu's possible. Some mobo's may say they have 4 pci express slots but in reality they can only handle cards that only take up one spot.
I'm not 100% sure but I think 800 wats might initially sustain 4 5830's but power supplies do degrade over time so after running 24/7 for awhile I'm sure it wont be able to handle it.
The problem is newegg doesn't restock at 12:01 pst. They update their stock randomly. I purchased 2 5830's yesterday at 7 pm est and it was only in stock for 10 mins. A week or two ago I got two and they were in stock from 1 to 2 pm est. My point being you'll basically have to spend the whole July 4th holiday spent near a computer to guarantee you purchase one lol.
In all honesty you probably only need to make sure the mobo has enough pci express slots to fit the amount of cards you want. You forgot a power supply in your list. Don't skimp on this as it can destroy all your equipment. Also you should get 2 gigs of ram if you use windows 1 gig for linux.
I don't have an account with them but with any private torrent site it is required to keep a good ratio and not get caught selling invites or being the person buying invites.
Finally got my 4th 5830 working on this miner ! Got a great rack/shelf unit for $4.99 at target. It was in the kitchen utilities section Cards sit nicely on the rack with the pcie connector going through.
Thats really clever. They don't wobble around they are secure in that?
There are only two things. You don't need more then 2 gb of ram on windows and you don't need more then 1 gb of ram on linux. Also your case isn't specific enough to see it exactly just make sure your case can fit three cards.
