641  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Easy Portfolio Management for Trading Cryptocurrency on: March 28, 2020, 02:22:52 PM
Maintaining a cryptocurrency portfolio seems kinda pointless to me,if we consider the current situation on the markets.
All the altcoins are about to go down.I portfolio is useful only if there isn't a direct correlation between the price patterns of most coins. The main purpose of a portfolio is to diversify the risk and lower the average price volatility of the assets that you are trading.
I don't see this happening right now,if you hold 100 altcoins in a portfolio and they are all falling by 20-30%.
I've heard about this shimpy.io blog before. Some people were promoting it on the forum, but I don't click on such links, because my PC got infected by a trojan, while visiting a crypto blog once.

I agree with @Davis, right now getting a portfolio is probably still risky in itself given the market volatility and all. However, the article sure looks interesting and its probably useful to read about these different strategies as after all everything will improve at some point - so its good to keep an open mind.
642  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Finding the best cryptocurrency exchange to trade on - What is your top pick? on: March 27, 2020, 11:18:46 PM
For me I'm super careful when it comes to picking my exchange platform, so there are many things like ease/speed of authentication, transaction volume etc that I take into account. So on these plus other terms my go to exchange platform is Binance.

However, at times I also use Kraken and though rarely, bestchange - which worked pretty well for me. So, altogether it depends on what I'm interested in trading and how much time I have - this is why I often don't bother testing out other platforms, which is probably bad!
643  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Brought Bitcoin in 2017 and sold in 2018 on: March 27, 2020, 08:32:08 PM
Plenty of people are much less lucky than you.

There have been people that spent 10,000 BTC on two pizzas, and others that lost hard drives containing thousands of Bitcoins.

You lost a few bucks because you entered a market you don't understand. Get over it.

If you think you can enter at the highest of a bull market then still make a profit just months later, think again.
644  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Need help with bittrex.com on: March 27, 2020, 06:58:02 PM
Why would they return the money that was stolen from your account?

You almost certainly got keylogged or phished or something, allowing the attacker to grab your account credentials. How did they manage to bypass 2FA? Did you get sim-swapped? I bet not.

Realistically, if it's your own fault for getting hacked, you're not protected at all. So you better be willing to prove that you didn't just get duped out of your information like I suspect you did.
645  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you trade bitcoin options? on: March 27, 2020, 04:51:45 PM
I actually did use Deribit for options a while back, though I stopped because it wasn't something I was experienced with and I generally dislike Deribit's format compared to the other sites that are out there for even non-options trading. It's an interesting concept and something that I'd be interested in looking more into in the future, but I'll be sticking to derivatives and futures on sites like Bitmex or Bybit for now.

Deribit also has a pretty detailed guide for trading options on their website if anyone's interested. The link is here (click for link).

Similarly, I have heard of option trading but to be honest I never got around to learning it properly and even after trying it for a little bit it just felt more complicated and in the end I was losing quite a lot more than I was expected. Although, risky I think its something I should perhaps spend more time learning about  Cry
646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the new method of "Initial offering" this year? on: March 27, 2020, 03:39:17 PM
Even if there is, I'd stay well away from these.

It's profitable enough just to trade the already established cryptocurrencies, there's no need to resort to funding experimental ones.

Especially when the market is so negative towards new projects now, you're just asking to get rekt.
647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin season question on: March 26, 2020, 09:28:57 PM
Stop speaking about altcoins like their price action has some seasonal variation of sorts, it doesn't.

Just buy when ALL the signs are bullish, and sell when shit hits the fan, it's really not that difficult.

If you sit around for years waiting for an altcoin season you're going to miss a huge amount of trading opportunities, particularly if you are a swing or day trader.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin community, I need help with your knowledge of local Bitcoin ATMs! on: March 26, 2020, 06:43:08 PM
There are plenty of ways to invest in Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies without needing to pay the ridiculous fees from crypto ATMs.

BestChange shows a huge range of different exchange rates which you can get while using the platform, or you can also look for private OTC groups to find locals to exchange cryptocurrencies directly for cash.
649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tyler Winklevoss: BTC is not a hedge to pandemics on: March 26, 2020, 03:30:12 PM
Of course not, nothing is resistant to a sudden panic sell, and liquid assets like Bitcoin and fiat currencies are usually the first to go.

After all, it's not so easy to liquidate gold or physical assets, hence why stocks tend to get dumped like mad while commodities and precious metals stay up.

That said, I do think Bitcoin will recover faster than traditional markets once the pandemic eases up.
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mean Dollar Invested Age on: March 26, 2020, 01:27:49 PM
So it seems people are investing more now, than at the highest of the 2017 bull run? Curious indeed.

We really need to know where this money is coming from, if it's institutional money then that's definitely a good sign, whereas if it's dumb money from retail investors we can't really be sure where the industry is headed.

Only time will tell.
651  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'm a full-time crypto trader. Here're my recent trades & answers to questions on: March 26, 2020, 09:44:48 AM
Thanks for running this AMA, glad to see that some seasoned traders still frequent the forum.

I've got my own question if you don't mind.

Can you tell me the key indicators you use to determine when the overall market has turned bullish?

Thanks!
652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is the best place to talk to traders that ACTUALLY know what they're on: March 25, 2020, 11:23:37 PM
Ignoring some of the plebs around here saying Bitcointalk is the best place for cryptocurrency trading advice, more than half of the users who claim to be experienced traders are actually perma-wrecked thanks to their ridiculous investments in ICOs and other crowdfunding projects.

I think you're best of using a social media platform that is designed for financial discussions, like StockTwits. They have Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on there.
653  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading platform verification on: March 25, 2020, 12:45:27 PM

On the view of this you can just checkout the review page for umarket.

With 33 reviews they have 1.9 total star rating which straight away tells us how bad it is.

Absolutely not!!! Some random "chick" tells you about this trading platform which requires you to deposit a min of $500  Huh Mate, that's more than suspicious and although I'm glad you posted on here first before you made your deposit, this shouldn't have been a ? in your head at all - it worries me!
654  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you think this is a good strategy ? on: March 24, 2020, 10:42:09 PM
Hi all  Smiley

Do you think this is a good strategy:

I buy bitcoin by putting a stop limit at the same purchase price to lose nothing

Example: I buy 1 BTC at $ 5200 and simultaneously place a stop limit (loss) at $ 5200, if the price goes up then it's good for me but if it goes down then I would lose nothing

Thank you

Theoretically speaking you'd think that would be a great strategy but the truth of the matter is that the market volatility makes this 'strategy' completely impractical. I have tried it before thinking it should be fine but this is not trading at all and sometimes within minutes you find that the market dropped below your stop limit and now you're out of the game completely. Some people avoid this issue by going 5% on either side but then even that can be tricky!

Thanks for the update, it seems all pages are up and running now. With regards to your platform which due to no KYC verification may receive a lot of traffic, though the use of no KYC in itself is questionable since most governments want to implement KYC on exchanges, how long does your rate stays fixed for? This is potentially interesting given the market volatility.
656  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If we have great ability, is capital from bank loans safe for us to use trade? on: March 24, 2020, 02:23:44 PM
Don't ever take out a loan to trade or gamble. I know people personally who have done this and they are in debt because of this.

I had a friend who was broke, could only trade with like $3000. And he turned $3000 into like $9000 and then lost like half of it. So he assumed he knew what he was doing and borrowed like $10000 from a credit card because you knew he could pay it off soon. Long story short, he lost the entire account within a few weeks and had to pay off the credit card with its 20% APR interest. Worst financial decision of his life.

This is why credit cards actually stopped processing crypto exchange deposits back in 2018 because people could fall into debt if BTC crashed which is exactly what happened. And many people got burned and still owe the debt that they took out.

So never gamble with a loan.
Indeed, the desire to seek more profits is something that everyone wants to gain from trading but do not let that profit make us forget the nature of risk when we conduct trading, we don't need to talk about bank loans, trading margin loans are also an experience for us, the loan amount may be very high but it always comes with special conditions, risks and fees. A lot of people are proud of their skills in margin but the battle is at the end, the number of people smiling is still too small, while the crying is more than ever

I agree with @Gheka here. Despite loans availability I always advise people not to take loans out simply for the purpose of trading. This is because like its said above, the risks are so much higher and you're not guaranteed profit even if you pride yourself as a good trader. Plus, the complication you'd get yourself into with paying interest rate on the loan is another reason not to assume profit and to just trade with only what extra $$$ you got!
657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 10 alts under $0.10 that can go 100x on: March 23, 2020, 11:20:06 PM
Why does it matter what the unit value for the altcoin is?

It could have a unit value of $0.10 but a circulating supply of 100 billion, giving it a market cap of $10 billion. Kind of similar to XRP.

I think that Suterusu is one to watch, has an excellent use case and racking up some solid partnerships.

Too bad it only has a few exchanges and little trade volume for now.
658  Economy / Economics / Re: Coronavirus is very harmful to fiat currencies, not bitcoin on: March 23, 2020, 10:02:33 PM
The coronavirus has hurt practically every commodity, stock and asset, including cryptocurrencies.

Did you not see how Bitcoin dumped as soon as WHO declared COVID19 a pandemic?

However, if you look at the analytics and trading volume for many exchanges, you'll see that they have seen a huge surge in volume and interest lately.

https://www.bestchange.com/

Take a look here, activity has increased dramatically in reason days.
659  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitget exchange on: March 23, 2020, 04:36:26 PM
i've no intend to return back:) i'll fight for every sat:)
In that case, you won't get a nut. It's not an ethical move from the exchange (I never heard before this time), but if you don't cooperate them, you are losing both BSV and your BTC. So, I think you must follow the step they ask and get your BTC back. That will be a win for you.

This indeed is very odd, and I haven't hear of any exchange to do just that. Perhaps your transactions somehow flagged up as suspicious and they're investigating this, thought whichever the matter I feel they should communicate it clearly.  It's such a nuisance but I suppose the best course of action is to get in touch with them to find out why this occurred and how can you/they remedy this so that both of you walk away happy.
660  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading signals... on: March 23, 2020, 12:07:34 PM
This is my first time seeing free signals in this forum. But I don't want to take a bite that easy. I just want to know on what position will he/she will predict. Im hoping that I get some knowledge to those signals.
I keeping an eye to this by the way kudos to OP for making this thread.
It's better to observe and assess each signal OP might provide and see the basis if there are incoming news that will make things to happen.
Most of the time predictions or signals is based to whatever situations will be, if OP can also provide his good basis and how he judge his/her
assessment in providing his pick.

Yes, there's that part that you need to assess on your own to ensure that you're investments aren't made blindly and usually though not often the OP and the news don't always go hand in hand and so its important to still think whether is worth trusting the OP signal or not because they might be right at the time but something else may be introduced that will skew the entire market. It's quite convoluted!
