congrats TAT!
663  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICminer fixed-price auction 1@4.4/BTC x 57 on: July 09, 2013, 02:01:19 AM
got my divs, and not blaming gabit, but wow am I never buying direct again.
664  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: July 09, 2013, 01:57:48 AM
If the difficulty adjusted right now to 25235779 then selling would receive a dividend of 0.006924 BTC/share. However, the difficulty is expected to continue increasing, so the actual dividend will probably be above .007.

Wowzers, selling seems very conservatively priced currently...

since day 1.
665  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: July 08, 2013, 07:56:29 PM
Difficulty is going up of about 20% within a few days.
SELLING dividend coming, i bet.

That said, people still buy MINING ...

More amusing is that people still buy other PMBs/similar for even more than MINING.

Remember that there's no increase in difficulty that makes MINING (or any PMB) worthless - people just have to find the right price to buy at.  Is the current price a fair one?  That's for people to decide themselves - in general those buying think it is and those selling think it isn't (and some in both categories probably don't think at all - they just click buttons effectively at random and hope they end up with profit).

I always get a kick out of Furuknap's borderline absurd explanations of what supposedly makes DMS.Mining so much different than other mining bonds....to paraphrase "it pays the same and acts the same, but its different because people can bet against it." (which in this case really means that its actually secured by funds to pay >1 yr of divs)

ill get 2 and move up our progress toward 24...Id get at least one more too if it ends up making the difference between 23 and 24.  Really, anyone who ordered 2 at $15 should be up for a 3rd one if it gets us to 24, because then its free!

I cant send BTC until I get home from work in 5 hours though, not sure what time you wanted this to close, but lets keep it open till 24, eh?
667  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: July 04, 2013, 07:15:26 AM
holy shit wtf just happened.  5.17 and 3.6 in the same day, and on no news.  wild ride.

669  Economy / Securities / Re: The Bear Argumemt for ASICMINER on: July 04, 2013, 02:15:54 AM

1. The tumbling Fiat/BTC ratio impedes ASICMINER's ability to buy new hardware to maintain its total % of the total network hashrate.  In the last 6 weeks we have gone from $130s to $70s. At some point, the relationship between the Fiat/BTC ration and ASICMINE Share price will rubber band back in place if the Fiat/BTC price does not significantly recover.

Wouldn't that not be the case, as ASICMINERS competitors will also have the exact same problem, hence the mining ratios will remain as they are?

no, AM (and all competitors) have expenses priced in fiat.  As BTC:fiat falls, it requires more btc to pay for chips, electricity, employees, etc.  Even if the network %'s stayed exactly the same, profits, and thus dividends, would be lower.

is this a good location to discuss motions for ciphermine?

id like to discuss the most recent motion to add shares and dilute current shares.

wow, thanks for posting here, hadn't seen the motion.

kate, I understand you have enough votes to pretty much do whatever you want, but why don't you look at what happened to the share price after you posted this motion to see what investors really think of it.

Really amateurish.  Whats the criteria for employees who you pay from your shares vs employees who can be issued new free shares?  How many different businesses are you trying to be involved in?

Personally, I like that you are trying to diversify into other businesses—In fact, that is why I decided to grab some shares, and I'm very excited about your plans. Clearly, you have great enthusiasm for running the project, and I am glad you have been able to recruit new talent to the team via share renumeration.

Well, the stock price clearly recovered, so never mind that Smiley  Exo- I'm not specifically against being involved in multiple business lines, but it seems like these guys are fairly new to a lot of the things they are dabbling in and I'm not sure there's any reason to think they should have a profitable edge at things like day trading the price of bitcoin based on a 10/21 bot thats available to everybody.  But if they do and make money at it, all the better!  Anyway this thread is pretty dead so I guess I might as well finally register on the litecoin forum.
671  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: July 03, 2013, 02:09:42 AM
This is starting to get out of hand- but there are still fundamentals (~25% yield) supporting 5 btc per share... 10 on the other hand..

Agreed, but you know what its like. Speculators buying in at 5BTC need a "reason" for it to go to 10, so we will here all kinds of fancy stories describing why its worth much more than 10 e.g. hardware sales, or Chinese people have nothing else to invest in  Grin

The real reason is:
Every time you try to sell the shares you end up buying them back.
There must be some magic or hypnosis at work.

totally true... I keep selling and then trying to protect myself with options, which often works out great, but the last run up happened so fast and while I was asleep I missed the whole runup from 3.3-4.4...sigh...from my first AM purchase at .772 I have cycled through so many fkn shares and I just want  every sale back
672  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: July 03, 2013, 02:07:02 AM
Here's a little bit of math that some of you may find of interest.  Let's look at what happened if anyone bought PURCHASE at the start and just held it.

They'd have bought initially when price was 0.065258
Allowing for 0.2% transaction fee that would have cost them 0.065388516

In total they'd now have received  0.01787841 in dividends (the total of all SELLING and MINING dividends to date).

PURCHASE is currently selling at 0.049338
They could put their PURCHASE back up for sale at 0.049337 and reasonably expect to sell it (strangely there's been a few hundred PURCHASE sold - all of them into bids at a lot less than just below my Ask price).

Less transaction fees that would get them 0.049238326
If we add to that the dividends to date we get a total of 0.067116736

If we subtract the initial purchase price we get a profit of 0.001858736
Which is 2.848% in the 22 days the fund has been running - or over 0.9% per week.

The return from doing that is likely to fall (as new sales of PURCHASE represent an ever decreasing percentage of current outstanding ones) but it does go to show that there's quite a few ways people could have made a profit from DMS.

whats the math on if they bought and held asicminer the same day? Smiley  jk jk

Except for that tiny 1.5m share wall at 0.0025....my guess is it will be tough to find that many suckers.

wall is more like 3 mill, between both sites...whats 7,500 BTC between friends though, amirite?
675  Economy / Securities / Re: The coming flash crash in AMC on: July 02, 2013, 10:38:33 PM
Hmmm, so much for that flash crash.  You guys look pretty silly right now as the price climbs higher and higher.

you do realize right after entropy posted, the share price started falling from .0025 to as low as .0009, and it still has yet to recover to the .0025 people bought it at?

Actually it crashed before he posted.

But I guess we all get to choose the gods we pray to.

heres the bitfunder chart, with the time the thread started:

and I made one for BTCTCO (thread started at the green circle)

Of course.  I'm enjoying the climb up as we speak.  Once it passes .0025 I will be back to smear it in his face even more.  This is just the beginning.

Entropy, am I still not allowed to LOL at these fools?

678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bee population dying off on: July 02, 2013, 08:15:39 PM
This has been a mystery for years. Bee poppulations have also been dropping for about a decade now. Hopefully we can find out the reason soon.

it's not a mystery whatsoever.  It's a combination of neonicotinoid pesticides, varroa, nosema, and monoculture farming practices that leave hives without a source of sustenance for much of the year.  The idea that CCD is an unexplainable mystery is propagated by those who defend imidacloprid and the other big systemic pesticides, who claim that these pesticides are 100% bee safe when used properly, which is 100% bullshit.  These pesticides are known as "systemic" because they get taken up by the plant and dispersed throughout the foliage, pollen, and nectar.  Direct contact with imidacloprid will INSTANTLY kill a bee, but even at sublethal levels, imidacloprid tremendously weakens colonies, making them susceptible to mites and diseases.  If bees forage on plants that have been dosed with systemics, they bring trace amounts back in the pollen and it accumulates in the hive.

Ok, what address do I need to send payment to? Smiley
+1 for ASICMiner shares being hot Cheesy  Just wish I had bought more when they were 2.5 :/

I've used btct.co's internal transfer to burnside, (but you should inform him about that and your btct.co account name in a pm first, I guess ^^)

why are you guys paying burnside? That just creates extra work for him... pay the guy selling the shares...he just transfers them to burnside for us
