661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Forever: 26.04 BTC Burned In 2016 on: December 27, 2016, 12:55:05 PM
Last October a website called BTCBurns.cf identified 397 burn addresses containing 2,657.8686 BTC lost forever. It has gone offline. Since it stopped keeping track 26.04 additional bitcoins have been sent to these addresses.

The total number of unspendable bitcoins is now 2,771.4086.

http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/blog/2016/12/21/btc-burn-addresses/

That represent a very large number of bitcoins that I don't have in my possession. I don't know about burned address, but if someone buys bitcoins and store them in a cold storage and never touch for a couple of years.

Will the address be flagged a burned address?
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I regret not being a employee of this company. on: December 27, 2016, 12:42:10 PM
I would like to receive a bonus this way, to have a bitcoin at the end of the year. I am pretty sure the company compensate this employee because he surely did a nice work the entire year and get recompensate with 1 bitcoin Wink

Normally, companies give bonus with fiat money that you need to pay tax on it.
663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rally! Keep hold your coins! watch that chart 1200$ soon. on: December 27, 2016, 12:15:07 AM
If you use Bitcoin as a pump and dump coin you can be burned. Bitcoin is far more than a price on a Exchange. Bitcoin is an technology and not a get rich quick scheme. Speculating about a price is a dumb idea.

Totally agree that bitcoin is not a pump and dump coin. Also I fully agree it's a new technology for raising money where only you are in full control (at least that's the core philosophy in bitcoin in my view). Speculating about price is not a good idea, but conserving your coins and buying them now it maybe the wise choice that we made in our lives a few years later. This is also a big power of bitcoin.

I think is great to see it like you are your own bank and that nobody can't charge a fee to have it into your wallet. Also, I am grateful that we have this opportunity in our lifetime to have an asset that rises in value and that nobody controls centrally. If the price goes up or down, I will continue to use bitcoin for the increasing purchasing power over time instead of the inflation with fiat.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Inevitability of Million Dollar Bitcoin on: December 27, 2016, 12:02:10 AM
The supply of bitcoin is just too great for it to rise to such a high level, and it probably wouldn't happen as there will almost certainly be a coin that supersedes Bitcoin and has some kind of better encryption.
SHA256 will only be secure for a few more decades, so unless major work is done on the platform by then bitcoin may fall behind other coins.

This is someone who understands a little bit more about the incredible number of assumptions that are in place for a 1 milliom dollar bitcoin value!

Although to be fair, efforts to improve the platform and advance it technologically can only work to further boost the value of btc.

Yes, the above two comments seem the most realistic.  There are too many variables (re the future) that we cannot know, including many variables that we cannot predict (similar to those trying to predict Black Swan events).

While my guess is that BTC will do great in the medium-term (say 3 - 5 years, maybe reach $10,000 or even $25,000), I would be reluctant to predict much further out than that.  There is always the possibility of a better coin, even with Bitcoin's first mover advantage.

$1,000,000 per BTC, would that value be in hyper-inflated dollars?

I don't think the bitcoin can't reach 1000000$ in value Wink. I think the next step for the bitcoin to continue to raise, more place will accept bitcoin, new services will emerge from the bitcoin entrepreneurs, easy to use for the average joe.

The price pumps lately because of the demonetization in India, the devaluation of yuan in China, the hyperinflation in Venezuela.

665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying Bitcoin is obvious to early adopters on: December 26, 2016, 11:36:00 PM
I think is never too late to buy bitcoins, even for anybody that miss the boat in the early day of bitcoin history. For sure, I will be excited if I was the men who bought the pizza for 10000 bitcoins and I hold them right now.

The brain get excited to see the number claim, claim Wink
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Community & Decentralization on: December 26, 2016, 01:25:42 PM
There is something that I really can't understand and I want to get your thoughts about it.

It looks like for some reasons , the bitcoin community don't care about decentralization at all. I mean , If we check the forums we will see how they say they want to use decentralized websites to exchanges etc... but the truth is that no one does.
OpenBazaar which is supposed to be a decentralized marketplace is almost used by no one compared to the bitcoin userbase and this is valid for Bitsquare.io as well.
In the meanwhile , we see a lot of people providing their real infos to the exchanges just like that.. So what's wrong here?

Many people do not bother to go beyond their current comfort zone:
Is OpenBazaar easy to set-up and use?

People don't like too much when they go beyond of what they know. Ebay is very easy to use in comparison of OpenBazarr, I faced many problems when I installed the application and I got frustrated. I am stubborn and I got it to work, the average joe needs something easy to use and not to have to fight how to get it work.
667  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2016 rally is led by India on: December 26, 2016, 12:58:38 PM
I think is one of the causes that pumps the price of bitcoin with the demonetization policies from the government of India. Also, the population has a limit to be able to possess in gold, so people are looking for another way to keep they wealth. I think we can say India contribute to the equation, but we need not forget the other factor happened in the bitcoin world in 2016.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: December 26, 2016, 12:32:18 PM
I don't own 1 bitcoin because I just have started this year, but is something I will plan to put in my wish list this for 2017 Wink

For sure, I can buy them with fiat money, but my philosophy I prefer to develop my skill and learning to acquire them on my own.
669  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: December 25, 2016, 04:39:20 PM
Well, signature campaigns are a really good way for passive incomes, if you consider that. But for you to really gain something, you need to have a good rank, a good posting quality and also try to join a decent paying trusted campaign. Thats really the way to go. Otherwise, I can recommend you to write articles, post in the services section to get hired, you might get good amounts for some decent quality articles.

Passive income is something you earn doing nothing, Signature Campaign isn't passive income, you need to be active on forum, read many threads, spend time writing, viewing the links another people post.

Investments that generate you income without any effort from your side is passive income. Like when you let your money at the bank and they pay you interest every month. The profit from passive income is usually very low and only is useful to let your savings generating some profit, as people say: better than nothing.

I agree with this comment, passive income is the profit obtained by forming an active network. So we do not work hard anymore. The word passive income often encountered in multi-level marketing. If we discuss it for earnings youtube, blogs, and others, for example, we post content 10-100, and we do not need to post again, after that, we get unlimited earning from visitors who click on our ads forever.

Even if you post 10 to 100 posts on your blog or youtube channel, you need to always need to add fresh content. Otherwise, the traffic will diminish and your income will reflect it, you can have a passive income from the type of website. But you always need to continue to provide value for your audience.
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So you thought Bitcoin is dead, huh? NEVER! on: December 25, 2016, 04:19:34 PM
The best is not listen to the noise from the news and the speculation out there. The bitcoin will not be dead if the price will claim to 900USD and then crash to 500USD. The news is always looking for news that will permit to have the much audience possible.

The best, see the bitcoin the same way even the price claim and claim or go lower Wink. The more the price will claim, the more you see news out there, both are in correlation.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need an incentive to make first world population use Bitcoin on: December 25, 2016, 04:09:36 PM
Looking back at my post, I think it's clear that we are not going to see a mainstream adoption of the first world until the governments get rid of cash because until then the average person is not going to miss its use. The average person uses cash constantly, so once you take cash away from them we will see what's obvious: they will look for an alternative and here is when bitcoin gill get massively adopted as the substitute for the underground economy.

You have a good point there, we have already so many alternatives to paying with the credit card, fiat, and debit card when we are paying for stuff like the groceries and gas. The average joe will not find bitcoin attractive if they cannot spend them on the stores they use frequently.

I saw lately on the forum that Starbucks start accepting bitcoins, this is a good starting point. The more store who will accept it, the more people will are willing to acquire them. As soon the giants will start accepting bitcoins, mass adoption will start Wink
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: impact of bitcoin on your daily life/business? on: December 24, 2016, 12:30:00 PM
Right now bitcoin don't have any impact in my daily life. However, I am working hard to accumulate this currency for an investment and because I love to see growing in my wallet.

But I will use it in a near future when more store will start using it.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Starbucks accepting bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 12:06:33 PM
I am an unconditional coffee lover and I can't pass one day without my coffee. I think it is a good milestone for the bitcoin ecosystem, the more company like Starbuck will use it, more will follow.

I should try this card in a near future, I have Starbucks in my city Wink

674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very little Press Coverage of Bitcoin's Rally this time on: December 23, 2016, 07:44:37 PM
I think everyone are to busy preparing for Xmas to worry about Bitcoin. Most of the journalists are most probably on leave or on holiday,

so there are less people to cover stories on Bitcoin. I have family in the press business and he says only skeleton staff are kept over the

holiday season, just to cover main events.  Shocked

Your right that most journalists are busy during the Christmas season, where I am presently the place is most quiet as usual. The journalist will cover what is the most important and urgent to present to the news.

I saw some news on twitter and the news I follow in my RSS reader this morning about the 900USD mark of the bitcoin value.
675  Economy / Economics / Re: Successful bitcoin entrepreneurs? on: December 23, 2016, 04:13:10 PM
I strongly believe is possible to make this amount in bitcoin each month, but you need to work hard and find your niche. Nobody will tell his secrets on how to do it, but if you take baby steps and look around what is working in the bitcoin world, you can replicate.

Always believe and never to give up, is the only secret for an entrepreneur to succeed.
676  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin in 2017 on: December 23, 2016, 04:01:51 PM
I think 2017 will a nice year for bitcoin and the price will stay stable and continue to claim slowly. Also, the community will continue to raise and the number of bitcoin wallet.

Should be great to see the mining shifting from China and see more counties join the forces for balancing the hashing power in the network.

677  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-12-23] Bitcoin Price Analysis - Lift off on: December 23, 2016, 11:38:51 AM
Nobody can predict the fluctuation of the price, but I am very surprised that the price has moved from 800USD to 900USD in a little span time. Like the article mention is very risky to trade at this time because the price can also move down.

The best strategy for myself was always keep and hold my bitcoin.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: That's time that's sure : we are in a pump on: December 22, 2016, 11:39:50 AM
For the healthy of the currency, I don't think the price should move too fast in a short period. I think the price will decrease a little bit after the pump if that happen and will stabilize between 800USD and 850USD.

Personally is always cool to see the number growing in my wallet Wink
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC38 hot wallet got hacked and lost 1.5 million on: December 22, 2016, 11:27:36 AM
People know the risks of keeping lots of coins on exchanges, they can't say they don't know the risks. Difference is now the price doesn't get affected by stuff like this.

We see it over and over from different stories around that is not the best way to keep all your bitcoin on a central wallet over the network. The best is to always keep your valuable bitcoin in a cold wallet or paper wallet. The security is something that people should always take seriously and be aware of it all the time.
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: December 22, 2016, 11:13:42 AM
Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ?

You can do the same in the real world with fiat currency, is not only related to bitcoin. The BTC is for transferring value over the without any central authority.

I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ?

People will do the same activities with fiat, and bitcoin are not responsible for that. I think you can see like the ethical way you use the currency, in any modern society you always have someone who will use it for another purpose.
