"Connection lost"
Getting this error a lot of times which is really disturbing. It should be fixed so that the players should not get irritated while playing.

Gladly I just got it a few times. It isn't irritating yet.

I am pushing a few changes now that should improve connectivity, or at least eliminate a few of the issues. I hope things will improve over time, thanks for your patience :-)

Cheers,
Ethan

That usually only happens if the server is restarting, and then it goes away.  When was it happening to you?  During a certain action or no?  How many times did it happen?

The most I've had it happen is 3 times in a row and then I refreshed and it was gone.

I will keep looking at connection issues. These affect a small fraction of users, but still this means something is wrong. Right now it seems that the most common issues are caused by internet providers. I can keep my browsers open literally for hours without a single iterrupt at locations with stable connection. Poor uplink, strange network policies (e.g. not allowing long-lasting open connections), network reconfiguration (IP change) are most common sources of connection issue.

Anyway, be asured this is a priority issue.

Hey ethan,

Just to know, and it will be answered once and for all on the thread. Are VPN connexions allowed on the site?
I have some sites on which I can't play because of location but VPN... Takes care of this problem.
Thought it would be good to state your opinion on the use of VPN on Yolodice

We are not blocking VPNs or Tor, nor have any special policy against VPNs nor Tor. The only consequences of using a VPN is that you might accidentally share an IP address with other users, which could result in:

* your faucet request count might be limited (we count them by IP too)
* you might experience delays on some requests, e.g. when posting to chat (but you would feel it only if there are really dozens of people from the same IP)
* you might not be included in chat rains since only one user per IP is rained when someone enters e.g. "/rain 10 0.1"
* mods will know you share an IP with other people from chat

But these are just standard anti-abuse protections, you should not be affected by them unless there are really many players from the same IP.

Cheers,
Ethan

I think it is very awesome features to be added, I usually like deposit bonus, do you have plan to have that kind of promo in the future, therefore we can have more fun on deposit, it also attracts more players.

Not for now. I have a kind of in-game reward system in mind, but I'd rather leave it for now. Even a simple thing like a faucet (what could go wrong?) needed multiple iterations to make it not worth abusing.

At some point - maybe indeed a system of rewards or ranks, but this doesn't really appeal to me that much. Yet.

Thanks!

Hi Ethan,

Just a few ideas that I would love to see incorporated into YoloDice, since I'm beginning to love the site more & more each day.. Smiley

1. Private tipping. ( so that I can tip my bank account & my good friends anonymously )
Somehow more and more people request it... This request is definitely moving up on my list. On one hand I want tips to be public, on the other you are right - if you tip your friends, you sometimes really want it private. Maybe we would allow private tips after an account wager at least 1 BTC?

2. Addition of site to DiceBot.
The work started already. I am working on releasing API, which would allow Seuntjie to add YD to his bot.

3. Suspense account for Ref. commissions ( to that I could accumulate & take it into my main balance as & when I please )
If more people request this, I will take a look at it. Honestly I cannot see much sense in creating yet another balance for each user, but I understand some other sites do it like that.

4. A RainBot that could be refilled by players that will automatically reward chatters.
This might be nice indeed. Honestly I rather see real people raining, it's more fun for sure and chat seems to go crazy when it happens. So let's see. I am writing this idea down and come back to it later!

I have also looked at .onion addresses and right now it would be too much work for me. The threat is that it could open YD for more abuse and would require different defence mechanisms, e.g. we would not be able to block IP addresses etc. So let's leave it for now.

Right now the "night mode" and "API" seem to be getting most attention from users so I will concentrate on these larger goals. I am still open on any other ideas and I could implement something smaller meantime.

Cheers,
Ethan

Yeah I'm 100% against animations too.  I remember when they first came out on another site and people hated them and ended up turning them off anyways.

imo fast rolls are WAY better for gambling than animations.

Earlier today I disabled some button animations (from the Bootstrap theme we are using) - game feels even more responsive, especially on mobile browsers. There is not much visual difference though.
668  Economy / Service Discussion / Advertizing a gambling/dice game - need opinions, thanks! on: January 25, 2017, 11:36:25 AM
Hi,

I would like to hear your opinion (or about your experience in) advertizing a gambling site. I have created and am running YOLOdice.com, yet another gambling site. Now the thing is it's doing pretty well, but is quite young (little over 1 month). It already has investors, players and I am sure it's on the right way to become a big one, but I would like to speed the process a bit with advertizing.

We are already doing:
* sig campaign on BitcoinTalk
* in-site referral program
* started Twitter giveaways and planning a few more

But I am looking at other options and was thinking about checking advertizing - CPM or CPC. Since I have never advertized a gambling site, I can see there are already a few Bitcoin-centric advertizing networks, I would really like to hear some opinions if you decide to share!

Thanks and cheers,
Ethan
669  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 DiceSites.com - List of dice sites w/ statistics, graphs & verifiers on: January 25, 2017, 09:31:52 AM
Hi,

I am Ethan, creator/owner/admin of YOLOdice.com. I was wondering if you could list our game. YD already has 730 BTC wagered, 200 BTC in bankroll and ~50 BTC of site profit, allows investing and seems to be getting traction pretty fast.

I suppose you need some kind of API integration to get stats from the server. I am open to any ideas. I definitely like your idea of dice-only sites!

Cheers,
Ethan

Besides that what I'd like to see is some kind of a fancy animation for dice rolls Tongue one I've always liked is how Nitrogensports does the animation for their site.
Fancy animations are only amazing for the first couple times you see it. Then animation becomes more of a burden and you are bored to death by viewing it again and again.
It is usually not worth time and effort to create something that most users will skip/disable after dozen of bets. I am more exited when I see green numbers popping out on my screen. Wink

Animations are just slowing the rolling. Just the faster the rolls the better.  Grin

I fully agree. Animations might be OK for the first few times, later they are just annoyances for most people. I definitely want YD to be clean and fast rather than fancy.

I am looking deeper at .onion routing, I will most likely do the night theme, several people expressed their interest in API too. This is still a planning phase though.

What's next?

I have completed most of the points from my short-term "TODO" list. This included quick (0-conf) deposits, mod power-tools, fixing minor bugs, extending chat with PMs and channels. These were all suggestions from YD users. Some of them still need a bit of work (fine-tuning), but I am looking for ideas that I could put on the list. I would be more than happy to hear your opinion!

Some of the ideas people already suggested (and which I like) are:

* night mode theme (white screen at night is a pain)
* expose API (so that one could create playing bots, or fetch site status, or anything)
* .onion address for even better anonimity
* any idea of yours?

I am looking for a feature that could be implemented in no more than a week - from start to first deployment. If you have a feature or an impovement that you think would make YD better and more exciting, please share it!

Cheers!
Ethan

Hi,

today I have publish code to validate your bets. It works with the downloadable seed dump from Seeds panel -- click any archived seed, then "Verify" and download the CSV file containing all the bets for a given seed.

This Ruby utility let's you validate the following:

1. if the seed hash matches the seed,
2. if your bets on YOLOdice have been generated according to the Provably fair algorithm,
3. if the profit for each bet has been calculated properly.

Feel free to use/clone/improve/adapt! Let me know if there's anything you need.

Cheers,
Ethan

Found this thread that might interest you.

yolodice(dot)ga

Thanks! It's not really forbidden to share your ref payouts with your referrals, you just need to be clear and not confuse people.
675  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: YOLODice.ga ❯ 20% Cashback on: January 23, 2017, 08:45:19 PM
Here is official Yolodice thread. Join by clicking here
I offer you 20% of the house edge (full commission) of your wagers or 0.2% of each wager made by you.
To get cashback you must be new user at Yolodice (signed up using my ref. link which is in signature) and post your username here in this thread or PM.
Every Sunday I will pay your cashback to your Yolodice account.

Example: If you wager 1BTC you will get 0.002BTC on Sunday to your Yolo Dice account.

I think it would be much more obvious if you simply posted your referral link directly to YOLOdice. Your yolodice.ga website uses Google Analytics and tries to display yolodice.com within an iframe, which is not a superb policy anyway. You can see yourself that it makes people sceptical.

Cheers,
Ethan
676  Economy / Gambling / Re: YOLOdice.com - fast dice game, play or invest, FAUCET, REFERRALS - JUST LAUNCHED on: January 23, 2017, 08:36:13 PM

I found another one for you:

   (1 - 0.01) / m
= 0.99 / 2
= 0.495 (not 0.45)

Your calculation seems to be using d = 0.10, a 10% house edge.

Could that explain why you have a 50 BTC profit from just 725 BTC wagered? Just kidding. Smiley

Please note that I do not vouch for yolodice.

Thanks, indeed, I made a mistake, probably when typing. I think I will need to go through the FAQ once more just in case there are more inconsistencies (and mistakes).

The site had over -10 BTC profit not long ago. I really wish it was more predictable and followed the rules of the probability theory!!! I know, it does follow the rules, but if it could just deviate a bit less from what the theory describes as "average" or "expected" or "mean"! We are still within 3-sigma limits though. (I know, you were kidding :-) ).

Thanks and cheers!

graphics and speed somehow co-relate to each other.

Is their a different speed for different levels of bet?
(bitsler way)

Yes, we started with a more complex speed-per-amount model, but now it's pretty simple:
Bet amountrelay
0 BTC1 second
0 … 0.0000001 BTC0.5 second
all larger betsno delay

May I suggest referral lvls? I mean your referral's referral, maybe referring other players and if you can get something from them, that should be cool eh?(bitvest type)

I am not sure it's that great. It looks good on paper (multiple levels), but look at the numbers: Bitvest paid total 1.82525564 BTC for level 1, 0.48168869 BTC for level 2, 0.11057556 BTC for level 3 during 1 year. We paid over 5 BTC in in one month only (yes, we were a bit lucky too). Now I really like the referral programs that people can earn something real and I think we are on the right track. Multi-level structure is cool, but does it really transforms how much a participant can earn?
678  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, awesome charts and chat, quick deposits - JOIN NOW! on: January 23, 2017, 10:39:08 AM

So your affiliate program is not based on players' losses or wagering amount, it is based on site profit? Now I have a question, house winnings don't contribute to the whole house? But minus 10%?

1. your minimum payout in the aff program is 0.20% of referrals' wagered sum.
2. if site has profit, the program works a bit differently. there is a pool and we put 10% of site profit into the pool. you then get a share in the pool which is proportional to your rereffals' wagered sum.

This week the site had pretty large profit indeed. so we added 10% of the profit to the pool, hence the large payout!  10% is exactly the commission we take from investors each week, so basically we are pumping our profit into the referral program.

And yes, I paid it yesterday. It was like 4.7 BTC alltogether. I am glad I could make a few people happy :-)

Although  I cannot guarantee the future payouts will be as large (it depends on site stats, rules remain the same however), I highly encourage you to join the referral program! I think both 10% of site profit and 0.20% of wagered are not bad margins at all.

There are a few forum signatures (and soon banners) that could help you right here: https://yolodice.com/#referrals

Ethan

A quick update about the referral program:

It looks like we'll be paing almost 5 BTC later today as referral payouts!. This is because we dedicate 10% of site profits to the referral program. The good news is that it's not too late to join the referral program, invite referrals and have a share in this enormous pool. The more your referrals wager, the more your share is.

Thanks to everyone for your support! Running the site like YD is not an easy things, but it's a pure pleasure thanks to you - our players, investors, fans, mods, affiliate partners etc. Thank you for your support so far! I'll keep doing my best!

Cheers,
Ethan

I think the site design of security is vague, people may often forget the login name because the name is created by random, if we have a recovery email, we can reset the password right?

No, you can't. If you forget your password you have to log in by signing message with your master address.
You can change your name to anything you want.

Just one thing - user name is not the same as login. You get a random name in the beginning, but you actually need to set up login credentials later.

There is no automatic mechanism for account recovery. We treat each "I lost my password" case individually. In general I assume users can sign messages with their bitcoin address (aka Master Address) and keep this address secure. Having an email filled can help in recovering account, but it's easier to hack an email account than a properly setup YD account with 2FA. Take this into account! :-)
