CGB Core Team Update - October 12, 2014

Please also see the Reddit post for further discussion.

Greetings to the CGB family! A quick update on CGB Core Team progress is outlined below.
Just a quick query, are there any fundamental changes planned for the network or client, such as a new mining algo? (I run *nix and scrypt ASICs so I'm happy for the basics to stay the same Smiley )

There is no algo change with the upcoming release. The main changes are multisig, change from berkeley-db to level-db, new client look and terminology, improvements to make the client 'Vault' more user friendly such as addition of qr codes, unlock for staking button, etc...

Please note that we are in discussion phases regarding evolving the current algo but this will not be included in this release -  stay tuned with our periodic updates so you are aware if/when changes on your end are necessary.

Thanks!

Hi friends!
The idea of the CGB is to be "gold bullion", as I understand. The only practical application, however, of  "gold bullion" is sitting in the vaults of banks. Why not try to do something in this direction with these here:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/fidor-bank-partners-kraken-create-cryptocurrency-bank/    ?

Thank you for the heads-up, will definitely keep on eye on this  Wink

However, please keep in mind that one of the advantages that CGB has versus gold is that it allows one to be their own secure 'vault' and eliminates the reliance on a 3rd party. More services and alternatives are definitely worth pursuing and establishing, but this core benefit should not be overlooked in my opinion.

As always, thank you for finding this and bringing it to the attention of the community! I will definitely attend this conference and hope it to be a big success - it seems to be a wonderful idea. I have looked into the possibility of sponsoring and/or exhibiting but sadly the least expensive option is $1,500.

Hi elambert, I would be willing/available for beta testing the new client - I can run both the Windows and Linux versions of the client if needs be Smiley

Fantastic! I was hoping you would be one of the volunteers! I will reach out soon.

Also, I should have mentioned - the test builds are Windows and Linux. We will add Mac support upon release.

Thanks!

As always, thank you kindly to BTCat for your constant involvement and dedication to CGB and our community! You are truly a supporter who is worth his weight in Bullion  Grin

The Blocknet is a very interesting idea and something that crossed the Core Team's radar as well. Further research is needed though and I personally would like to see how this develops a bit more before tying CGB to the project. We have limited resources and a full plate of projects in the works right now which I feel are the right priority direction for CGB in order to stand on its own as a leader and innovator. Joining forces with some creative and successful projects occurring in the community should always be considered and pursued if the litmus test of legitimacy and integrity are passed. Lets keep an eye on this one and see how things play out. Sadly there are a lot of deceitful entities involved in this space, so in my opinion trust has to be earned over time and is hazardous to give out without proper vetting.

Changing gears, I would like to reiterate to the community that the new client is close to completion. This is very exciting for us as well as for members in the community as this involves providing new to CGB features and better client performance overall. On that note, I would like to request assistance from a couple of members from the community to assist in beta testing of the client to make 100% certain all bugs are worked out before public release. If you are interested and have some free time to assist with this, please respond on this thread and I will follow up with you. Note, we are not looking for a large group and will lean toward selection of those who have been active supporters in the selection process.

Thank you all for your involvement and support on this trailblazing journey thus far!

Polishing clonecoins won't give you any investor in 2014 you will have to do quit bigger things then just to aim for the eyecandy look.

Thank you.

So how's the new wallet looking? I'm itching to getting my grubby mitts on it and enjoying the faster loading times ^_^ CGB has been holding up well to the recent bitcoin price decline, when BTC recovers CGB is going to shoot up almost overnight - All I can say is I am ready Cheesy

The client is coming along nicely and is looking sharp. Still not ready for release, but we are getting there.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: October 01, 2014, 08:41:39 AM

If the CGB team would like to check it, they are more than welcome.

Thank you Tyke, sending you a PM now  Smiley

CGB listed on Cryptex. Nice site, no big volume but it's a fairly new exchange. Might wanna try.

Support CGB on the Casheer forum by adding a post. Getting accepted will raise the value of your CGB's but we need more recommendations for that:

Good stuff BTCat! Added Cryptex to the website and also thread OP.

Go Casheer!

CGB Core Team Update - September 11, 2014

Please also see the Reddit post for further discussion.

Greeting CGB family! I wanted to drop in to provide a quick Core Team update for the community. First and foremost, I am extremely pleased to announce the promotion of Raizor to the Lead Developer position for CGB! Raizor has proven himself as a talented and visionary developer time and again and has more than justified his qualification for this position. Please join me in congratulating him! Artiface will continue to work with us in more of a Development Consultant/Advisor role until the opportunity presents itself for him to get more involved in the hands-on, day-to-day operations.

Updates:

-   Testing and development continues for the new client and we are getting close to announcing a release date. Coin control testing has gone extremely well, the unlock for staking button is working, the client is looking sharp, etc… I am sure the community will be pleased to hear that start-up time has been greatly improved as well.

-   As mentioned in the previous update, we are already planning the subsequent client which will require a hard fork. Our objective is to maximize the security of the Cryptogenic Bullion network and I am confident we are on the right track to accomplish this. A White Paper is now in the works to outline our vision for what the coming hard fork will entail. The release date for the paper and the associated work of implementation is still tentative but we will update the community as often as possible.

-   Again, we are always looking for interested collaborators to join the CGB Core Team and to help with the development and implementation of the growing pipeline of projects. Experienced developer positions are open as well as a ‘Lead Artist’ position to handle logo, banners, advertisements, etc. Please reach out directly should you want to apply for any of the openings through the website or email us directly at cryptogenicbullion@gmail.com.

-   Once again I would like to express our excitement over a new product being developed for which CGB is in the running to be included, CasheerApp. Coins are being added regularly based upon community support in the coin’s respective thread over at their forums. If you are a CGB supporter, please take a moment to check out the project and show your support for CGB’s addition in the CGB thread.

-   CGB is being actively voted for addition to a few exchanges at the moment so your support there is welcomed and encouraged as well.
* Bter - This is the focus priority for addition

I would have throught that moving to entirely PoSV (or at least implementing the non-linear reward PoS calculation) would result in the highest adoption rate possible as it means that anyone can start generating new coins buy first investing and then just keeping their full node wallet running 24/7; removeing the entry barrier of expensive/depreciating specialist mining hardware...

The previously mentioned sharing of unclaimed stake for those who are actively staking IS a non-linear reward PoS calculation. By keeping PoW additional to this, the blockchain has another level of security and can appease both PoW AND PoS miners/minters.

Keep in mind with this implementation, the inflationary rate would still be about 50 CGB generated per day (2% yearly - same as current if all are staking). The distribution would still be 0.5% per year to the PoW miners while the other 1.5% per year would be distributed to those actively staking the network, ideally all would do this, but those that do would be rewarded for their efforts in protecting the network.
