681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't fall for the Bitcoin Cash Pump!! on: November 10, 2017, 10:17:38 PM
I was watching this coin closely because it is obviously a pump and dump.  I was actually more interested in how a coin is pumped in the first place.

I would see sell order for BCH that were in tiny amounts, like .01 or .02BCH.  However, there were TONS of these sell orders all just a fraction apart in price.  And then, at around what I assumed was kind of a "gate price", there would be a huge pile, like 40BCH for around .0145 or something like that.

So how I interpreted this, was that whales or pump and dump groups or whoever used that "Gate Price" to have casual traders post below that price (for example the 40bch at .0145).  Also, to have casual traders post even lower prices they would flood the sell list with small amounts of BCH.  So a trader who wanted a quick sale would naturally just look at the cheapest price than post their BCH lower.  All of these were picked up really fast (I'm assuming by the pump and dumpers) and relisted back into that gate price.  So this ensures that they can buy BCH at a lower price and sell for higher.

Every now and then, it looked like they wanted to break past that "gate" and suddenly all of the small transactions would disappear (I assume they cancelled their sell orders) and BAM! The lowest price is suddenly that "Gate price".  Anything that was listed below that was quickly bought out.  So it forces quick buyers of the coin to purchase at that price.  After the supply in the gate price was gone, then the process was repeated again up to the next highest gate price.

Whew! Needless to say it was incredibly interesting to watch and would be impossible to pull off unless you had a high amount of the coin to play with and a large amount of people doing the same thing.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best projects in the credit industry + altcoins on: November 10, 2017, 04:53:16 AM
You can add Salt to the list.  You put up your current crypto as collateral and the loan is managed through smartcontracts so payment is guaranteed.
It seems like a great way to secure loans but there are some annoying things.

You have to use the salt token to purchase membership with them to get a loan.
Also, you can only borrow as much as your collateral.  That means that newbies starting out (who would most likely want to use the service to get more fiat to invest more) would not have much to borrow since they can't offer up much collateral.

ripio is really hyped now, but they are mostly targeting those who don't have bank access in south america.
Although that sounds like a great market, it is pretty counterintuitive as the demographic they are targeting is pretty much oblivious to crypto, the learning and adaptability curve is going to be huge and penetration into the market will be very difficult.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My first three days in day trading. on: November 10, 2017, 04:31:07 AM
Another Update:

Well, after a streak of ups and then a bunch of ups and downs I decided to stop at neblio.
After 4 1/2 days of day trading I went from .02btc to .03701445btc. That final bit I put into neblio and now I'm just going to hold.
It was an insane rush the first couple days I made steady gains.
But after some input that it was most likely a combination of luck and the current uptick in tons of alts, i tried to be more cautious.
Today was a huge stressful nerve wreck haha, so I decided to take a break and just watch the market for awhile.
I consider myself very fortunate to get this far and learned a lot.

For those that are interested, here are the coins I went through, it was pretty insane.
I hope you don't see it as shilling because it most definitely is not, a lot of these are already falling now.

cloakcoin
neo
safex
smartcash
mothership (lost a little)
hshare
open trade network (made huge gains on this one)
B3 coin (another one with huge gains)
dubaicoin
alis (lost a bunch)
innova (lost a little)
ormeus coin
bitcoin cash
and finally neblio just now.

...yeah, my brain is fried.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite Altcoins for one year HODL on: November 09, 2017, 10:01:35 PM
I believe these types of questions can do more harm than good.  Surely, you will never get any unbiased, well researched, scientifically sound responses.

You will mostly get shills and fudsters along with those just saying the name of a coin they are holding.
If you base your decision on these things than I doubt you will be able to get the 1000% gains you are searching for.
But, with that being said, here are my recommendations lol:

OMG
Waves
Ark

Iota will take another two years I think.  Their technology is revolutionary but they still have a loooooooooong way to go.  If you don't like these coins, I would suggest that you avoid projects that have no working product or use entirely.  Also, steer clear of ICOs, as in run in the opposite direction of them.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to eliminate unemployment. on: November 09, 2017, 09:55:17 PM
Wow, claiming bitcoin will eliminate unemployment is a pretty bold statement.

Unfortunately, it is rather impossible to eliminate unemployment.
And, on top of that, you are assuming that bitcoin has a limitless future.
Although btc is here to stay, I hope you realize that it is here to stay as in for the next 10 to 15 years.
Blockchain technology, however, is definitely a permanent part of our globalized society now.
Eventually, something better will come along and replace it, but the idea of decentralized currencies will definitely never leave.

And that is just what it is, a decentralized currency.  Never meant to fix unemployment and just because you know a handful of traders doesn't mean
that it will ever be sustainable for the entire population.

I sometimes wonder what Satoshi Nakamoto would think if he saw where btc is today and where it will go?
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is the best ico for me as a newbie on: November 09, 2017, 07:40:56 PM
It's important to reiterate what others have said:

If you are a newbie, than DON'T invest in an ICO.

The common mentality of those new to crypto is to get rich quick, and they see ICO's as their ticket to lambos and martinis.
The overwhelming consensus of those in crypto now is that ICO's are risky, scammy, and too numerous.

So if you still insist on doing an ICO.
Take at least a MONTH monitoring current icos that are happening, ones that currently finished, and ones three to six months ago.
Here are some high profile ICOs that just finished and you can look into them to see how things go after the ICO hype is finished:

Red Pulse
Chainlink
Electroneum
Cindicator

Here are some that finished two to six months ago:

OMG
TenX
Ark

Also, look up ICOs that turned out to be scams.
Research all this stuff, look for patterns, due your due diligence, then make your choice.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My first three days in day trading. on: November 09, 2017, 01:06:30 PM
So a quick update, I placed a sell order before I went to sleep and woke up to find that the order was filled and the coin I was trading hiked up in price overnight then in the morning was starting to slow down.  There was TONS of activity, like double what I saw during the day so it started to make me wonder if the most active traders on Cryptopia are in Asia (because my time zone is Mountain Time Zone).

I can't speak for other exchanges, but on cryptopia I first look at the trade volume and see one that has had a sudden spike in trade activity.  Then I look at the percent increase in value, 30% - 50%, seemed like a good sign it is being pumped.  Next, I look at the trade history for when was the last upswing and if the current upswing is exponential or not.  The last thin I look at is the buy/sell list and how many coins are being sold for what price.  If all seems to be good I will buy then immediately list for a smaller profit.  A couple times I bought out all the lower priced coins if there were a couple listed at a low price that were selling only a couple coins.  I did have some coins that ended up being losses but overall it is still turning out as profit.

I'm really trying my best to stay patient and steady.  Even if I start getting more BTC to trade with, I am sticking to making small .01 to .02 purchases cause that is what seems to have worked the last couple days.

I hadn't considered that now alts are almost all rising quickly, so I am trying to monitor the market to see when this bull run slows down and try to adjust based on that.  When it starts to slow down, it looks like I won't be able to make multiple buy/sell orders throughout the day as easily.
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Electroneum delayed another three to four weeks on: November 09, 2017, 05:44:31 AM
Quick timeline/summary of what's going on from the devs perspective:

ICO was AWESOME - it was so AWESOME that tons of people tried to hack us! - we delayed the release of the ICO coins to protect you guys! - we can fix it by resetting your passwords! - Wait! People tried to hack us again! - We are going to recode the entire thing! - it's going to be done soon! - A little bit more! - Look! We have coffee mugs and are coding, just a little more! - soon I promise! - Oh, we decided to test the entire thing using this elite group and it will take another three to four weeks...

Ok, so if I am level headed I would assume that this is for the best and the devs really are trying to secure our coins.
But, also, if I am level headed doesn't this just seem really messed up?
On top of that here are some hardcore red flags:

official EU, Asia, and US mining pools stopped paying out ETN even after blocks were still being mined.  There's 5 to 10BTC that just hasn't been payed out.
blockchain explorer is buggy.
only paper wallet, no gui, mobile wallets.
no app for apple devices.

Well, basically, it seems like they are using the hack (whether real or not) to spend a month finishing things that weren't finished in the first place.
And all the while bragging about how ETN is in the top 30 at coinmarketcap

I was a day one ico investor (meh, "investor", I only put 2 eth in) and have been really supportive of the project.
But this sucks all kind of major balls.

and now you can consider my venting over and proceed with the "I told you so" or "Stop spreading FUD! ETN is my lover!" posts
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My first three days in day trading. on: November 09, 2017, 05:30:46 AM
So after doing a TON of research I rearranged my schedule and decided to try my hand at day trading.

I decided to start off really small, so I only put in .02 BTC to see where I can go with it.
I've been using only cryptopia.

After three days...I'm up to .0338711 BTC! Wao! I'm a rich man! lol...

I was pleasantly surprised that a simple strategy brought steady gains.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out indicators of coins that were about to be pumped.  I looked at trade volume, spikes in value, market cap, buy/sell order history, etc.
I am going about this very cautiously, so when I felt like a coin was about to or in the beginning to middle stages of being pumped, I would buy it, and right away put in a sell order that was slightly higher for a small gain.  I tried my best to not put in too much and resell for a lot higher and the result was steady (but tiny gains).  As I get comfortable with this I will probably try larger investments.

I know I'm very amateurish but it feels good to get better at something yeah?

Anyone had similar experiences in day trading?

For every newbie, the best thing to do is to put it all in BTC first, do some research while you hold, watch the markets, and then diversify after you see price corrections or crashes.

The biggest newbie mistake that every single person has made was making hasty decisions and jumping in on a hyped coin or a coin some person here or on youtube suggested.

Did anyone notice that one of the developers last name is Voorhees?

I hope he doesn't name his son Jason...
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRATIS or WAVES or ARK? on: November 01, 2017, 03:39:15 AM
They're all great profits, but probably wouldn't go for any of them for a quick profit.
I see them all as long term holding projects.

If you've got the time and experience, day trade.

If you haven't got the time or experience, put the $500 in a brand new coin that just finished their ICO and where the price crashed.
Here are a couple of good ones that will definitely rise in that short period:

-Red Pulse
-Cindicator
-Chainlink
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ELECTRONEUM SPECULATION THREAD on: November 01, 2017, 03:33:02 AM
Started mining ETN already.

I've never mined before and don't have a high end computer but it was really easy to set up.
I just downloaded the windows newbie one.
You put in the public ETN address from the offline wallet you can get if you registered.
I hit start mining and Voila!

In other news, it looks like there was an attack to hack accounts so the ETN team is busy securing things and then will release the mobile miner and wallets.  So just be patient and we can move our ETN to the wallets when they go live.

As far as exchanges go, they are waiting approval from 9 different exchanges.
Since the blockchain just barely went live it might take awhile before they get listed.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO & Tokens are legit to invest? on: October 30, 2017, 02:28:05 AM
If you have to ask this question, and your question is littered with clear misunderstandings of what crypto is about and how the market works, it is honestly better that you don't invest anything right now.

If you jump into it not knowing what you are doing than you will learn the very hard way.

After that you will either adapt and push on or just give up on it entirely.

696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⚡ Electroneum ⚡ Token Sale Sept 14th Mobile Mining Crypto Coin on: October 29, 2017, 03:42:50 AM
One thing that is important to note, the chance of a huge dump and price crash after ETN hits exchanges is REALLY high.

Although there seemed to be 3 to 5 whales investing a buttload into this, most of the investors are relative newbies putting in 1 to 3 ETH.
It's harder to have a steady hand when you are new to something and the fuddsters have great influence over their mentality.

Well, I'm a newbie myself, and can admit that I have often seriously considered just dumping it all once it hits exchanges so I can make a little profit.
But, I am dedicated to holding on to them...maybe, I should stop commenting in ETN threads and just forget about it for like 6 months, that will guarantee I don't dump them.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW XBY ANN] XTRABYTES - OFFICIAL WEBSITE and WHITEPAPER RELEASED on: October 29, 2017, 03:34:32 AM
Wow.

I noticed a bunch of posts on Xtrabytes lately so I came to the announcement thread to learn more about it and what did I find?

DRAMA.

When there is so much back and forth, I am not concerned too much about who is right or wrong, who is telling the truth or not, I will just stay away.

Good luck to the project...

or not.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETN - Electroneum's Crypto Firsts and #1's on: October 29, 2017, 03:20:09 AM
Something like this has never been seen before.  So nobody can really predict where the market goes.

I will say that demand will be huge.  I'm sure people will dump at 2 cents.  I'm sure people will dump at 10 cents.  I'm sure people will dump at $1.

HODL and dictate the price.  Those that get out on the ground floor will be really bummed.

10 cents may very well be like getting out on Bitcoin at 100 bucks.

Although I like your optimism, and I am optimistic about this company too, I just don't see this happening.
One of the main concerns people have about ETNs future is the liquidity of the token.
There are planned uses for it in gaming and gambling features on the app, but those are a ways off.
If millions get the coin through the app only to just try and sell it, the price will only be driven down as there is no inherent value in it.
You can get it anytime and it's only for selling? Why would anyone pay $1 for 1 ETN when they can earn that by running the app in the background?
I plan on selling when it hits 1.5 cents unless I see a major bull run in the near future.

But who knows? Maybe I will be crying as I see it shoot past 10, 50, 70 cents and beyond a dollar.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ELECTRONEUM SPECULATION THREAD on: October 28, 2017, 09:07:34 PM
ELECTRONEUM!!!!!!!!!

That's how I felt at first, I invested on the very first day of the ICO.

Now that things have settled, I am still positive but way more realistic.

The price will most likely drop below ICO levels after the initial dump, if you want to flip for a quick profit you better plan for your selling point in advance and have three back up ones and be ready to jump on it the moment it hits exchanges.

A couple months down the road is where I see ETN starting to shoot up.
Realistically, I think .05 to 1 cent is a fairly good price and if truly takes off 4 to 6 cents is an absolutely fantastic price.

but being worth a dollar or $10 like others are saying?
lol, no.
700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: October 28, 2017, 08:50:31 PM
Eventually, BTC will be replaced by another crypto.  It is inevitable.

VHS was replaced by DVD, DVD by Bluray, and Bluray by well, don't we all just download or stream stuff now?

There already are projects now that improve on blockchain technology and even if an existing project now doesn't replace BTC there will be one in the future.
