6901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which wallet do you store the majority of your BTC in? on: December 30, 2013, 10:09:49 PM
I would of thought offline storage would of been more popular even at the early stages of the vote.

I see armory has an early lead.  Why do it there instead of qt?  What are the advantages?  I just have it on qt and never had a problem, except that I think the fees are too high.

Have a look at this website which displays all the features of armory. https://bitcoinarmory.com/about/features/
6902  Other / Off-topic / Re: New computer. What should i choose? on: December 30, 2013, 10:00:59 PM
This is how I feel about Apple products; Alienware seems to be the same way, they prey on people who don't really know what they're looking for in a PC, and so charge a premium with the promise that it's high-end.

Then again, building a PC from scratch isn't for everyone Tongue  So perhaps the price is a better investment than their time.
That's true. People may not have the time for building their PC. But, I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about having a decent computer. I refuse to purchase apple products. They are praying on people because they know people are status craving monkeys. I keep seeing everywhere talking about their iphone and apple products like they are better than anything made.

I also don't believe in buying the most powerful computer you can afford just to browse just get the computer which fit your needs.

(You can always get someone to assemble the computer parts for you remember if you are unsure how too)
6903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lamassu Sells 100th Bitcoin ATM on: December 30, 2013, 09:57:34 PM
I thought this was interesting too. There has been multiple attempts in the whole ATM business and many have failed. This seemed to be promising from the start being very transparent to questions and took peoples advise. I'm glad to see more coverage of the ATM. But, I would be more interested in seeing a lot more permanent places for them. At the moment a lot of people are not keeping them in one place which is a shame.

Maybe, the Bitcoin embassy should look into this and have one there which could get peoples attention and media attention too.
6904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who plans to shop on Overstock.com as soon as BTC payments work? on: December 30, 2013, 09:49:18 PM
I think we really should all do our best to shop at Overstock with BTC as soon as they accept it so they see it was a good idea and then other retailers will follow suit.

edit: has Overstock said what they will do with the BTC?  Will they sell it on an exchange?
I don't think they have announced what they will be doing with the Bitcoin. I'm assuming they will be exchanging it or if they want to try and be smart they will try and sell at a higher price.
6905  Other / Off-topic / Re: New computer. What should i choose? on: December 30, 2013, 09:15:47 PM
Alienware. You can actually mine on it:)

Well I know Alienware has a bunch of bad reviews and is overpriced but it looks great and it works wonderfully for me!
Although, you can get the same hardware for cheaper? Don't pay for the brand, pay for the actual hardware, Function over fashion. I disagree paying higher prices because of the brand, I'm sure others feel this way and the brand is meaningless.
6906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 30, 2013, 09:12:43 PM
DOGE is a collateral joke!

Let's look at more promising coins like XPM, QRK, PPC and the ones i dont know about yet.
A lot of Altcoins are jokes. Some are just modified versions with a little change in the code. Some altcoins are promising, but only time will tell. I'm really not that interested in any altcoins.
6907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: December 30, 2013, 09:03:30 PM
75% tax is ridiculous. I should imagine people will be looking for alternatives and Bitcoin will be one which appeals to some. However, a lot of them will just relocate. This reminds me of the Cyprus issue, likewise this is not how you get positive results..it's just beyond horrific.
6908  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is there enough duct tape in the US for every home in California? <Reactor 3> on: December 30, 2013, 09:01:05 PM
I love the anti-rad idiots on the web.

Summary - if a lethal radiation cloud moving at 10mph is heading towards you and (is hundreds of miles away) you should NOT I repeat NOT simply leave the area.  Instead you should try to duct tape your entire house.

Haha. Thank you for that kind advise, I was in two minds about this whole situation.
6909  Economy / Lending / Re: i need a loan of 2btc on: December 30, 2013, 08:50:50 PM
I can loan you 2BTC. As long as you promise to pay it back.

Don't fall for it. He hasn't got any collateral which should be a instant deal breaker for anyone. He is very unlikely to pay back the loan, therefore a 'promise' doesn't mean anything. Remember this is someone over the internet not someone you are close to and know. If he's willing to provide ID that doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Only loan him some Bitcoin if he provides sufficient collateral.

This user also sent some trust to a user called "Zolace" which is suspicious in my eyes, may be a alt. "Zolace" has a lot of positive trust ratings from newbies. This user also asked for a loan not long ago.
6910  Other / Meta / Re: Database errors when replying and general forum sluggishness. on: December 30, 2013, 08:48:49 PM
Website seems to be running a little faster now. Fewer errors and faster response times. When I initially was having problems the server response was: 3800.01 ms it's now at 1063.78 ms. Which is a dramatic improvement.
6911  Other / Meta / Re: Database errors when replying and general forum sluggishness. on: December 30, 2013, 05:45:42 PM
I've also had problems resulting in 80-90% requests ending up with a 502 error.
6912  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: December 30, 2013, 03:55:16 PM
I would be interested in hearing some stories from some members here about what they have used the 3d printer for and how beneficial is it to have one.
6913  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: December 30, 2013, 03:48:32 PM
i think its UNDERrated! when you think of the possibilties and look in the future , amazing!

I agree. It's a young product which already has stunned a lot of people around the world, anyone who has had this piece of kit must be impressed.
6914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to get into Bitcoin mining on: December 30, 2013, 03:44:23 PM
A better mining system depends how much you are willing to spend. Acquiring a Block Erupter is not going to bring much profit if any at all. The difficulty is way to high for many of the mining equipment to be worthwhile. If you have a substantial amount of money to invest that's the only way you can benefit in mining Bitcoin. Unless, it's purposely for educational reasons. There are a lot of tutorials and videos of setting up a block erupter over at places such as youtube. Go check them out if you are still interested.

6915  Other / Off-topic / Re: is my trust negative ? on: December 30, 2013, 03:37:47 PM
You have only had negative feedback from untrusted users. (users who are not in the default trust list)

This is how it appears to me:
Quote
Trust:    0: -0 / +0(0)
6916  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to help me buy something on: December 30, 2013, 03:27:55 PM

What are their average response time?

Thanks

They have had good feedback for responding within a few hours and no later than 24. But, I haven't see them in a while and haven't kept up with the feedback so I'm not sure any more.
6917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who plans to shop on Overstock.com as soon as BTC payments work? on: December 30, 2013, 03:22:45 PM
Seems Overstock is going to be scraping in a lot of profit just for accepting Bitcoin. Now, why don't other companies see this and jump on it? Overstock accepting Bitcoin is going to be one of their key moments to a successful company.
6918  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: December 30, 2013, 03:21:04 PM
Honestly, if you can find a need for them, they are well worth the money. They are going to be a big part of our future as the technology gets better. 3d metal printing as mentioned would be a huge leap forward.
6919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin emBassy, Tel Aviv, Israel on: December 30, 2013, 02:58:46 PM
Very nice to hear. Good position also, this is a big leap for Bitcoin and I wish you the best of luck!
6920  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.2.82 on: December 30, 2013, 02:53:19 PM
I'm glad it's possible to disable the chat feature. It was very annoying when I kept on hiding then switching to another page and it popping up again.
