6941  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 360 seconds limit on: December 29, 2013, 03:38:19 PM
As you progress through the ranks of the forum the time limit will eventually decrease.

Just remember this little equation:
Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

First of all it costs too much initially. Then the fees are ridiculous. I can't see them getting much business.
6943  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 29, 2013, 03:25:28 PM
I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts on dimecoin, or any other *new* coins you may be looking at.
My opinion on alt coins in general? Don't bother. My opinion on dimecoin? Don't bother.
6944  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.2.82 on: December 29, 2013, 03:23:39 PM
So it's exactly the unread replies page but with notifications?
Having notifications would be great for unread replies. That would be a great idea.
6945  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your thoughts on when BTC will reach $1000 again? on: December 29, 2013, 03:14:24 PM
Soon would be my best guess.

By January or February latest.

I can't see that happening at the current rate. If we have some interest from some other countries then maybe.
6946  Other / Meta / Re: Possible spambots "hey, i am fresh here" on: December 29, 2013, 03:01:05 PM
Considering the names they look like bots
This

Also, they all registered around the same time: 26/27th. All active today.  fS44Et8 especially spamming the same old thing.

Are these physical or digital?
6948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB ASIC Miners on: December 29, 2013, 02:32:27 PM
Not worth purchasing any if you are looking for profit. If you want to get some just for educational reasons then I would say they are worth it. But, expecting to make a profit any time soon with them would be crazy now. The difficulty is far to high for these to have any effect.
6949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to start my own Cryptocurrency casino on: December 29, 2013, 01:24:03 PM
You could hire a programmer over at the services section of this forum. That's normally the way people who don't know how to program do it. However, take into account if there is any problems with the code or any new features you wish to add you would need to hire others again to do it for you. It's very costly. Also, remember the laws in your country, do they allow you to run a gambling website?
6950  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.2.81 on: December 29, 2013, 01:20:21 PM
Just installed, as someone told me I'll get a [Top] link, that will take me to the top of the page.
Unfortunately, I don't see it. Am I supposed to enable it somewhere?

I believe Jackjack is going to be adding that if it's requested.

Tiny update: when you hide a signature it is totally hidden, including the black bar above it. Much nicer IMO.

Nice little update. Pretty smooth.
6951  Other / Off-topic / Re: find replies to my post??? on: December 29, 2013, 01:05:33 PM
You can go into the thread and use the search function to find your name. That way it's a little easier to find out who replied and what.
6952  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do people spend their bitcoins mostly? on: December 29, 2013, 01:04:27 PM
Wait, wait people spend their Bitcoins? I've been missing out..
6953  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion] "Top" link on: December 29, 2013, 01:00:51 PM
Considering the fact that adding "changing your avatar is currently impossible" took months, I don't think you'll see your "Top" button anytime soon
If you use BT++ I can add it though

Let me help you out there sir: If you use BT++ I can add it though (I as in Jackjack)

On topic: I can't imagine anything being added for a very long time. They seem to be reducing the security vulnerabilities by disabling some features at the moment.
6954  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why did you come to Bitcointalk? on: December 29, 2013, 01:44:43 AM
Seems a lot of people came to learn about altcoins rather than Bitcoin? What is actually going on?
6955  Other / Off-topic / Re: Skype group video calls on: December 29, 2013, 01:11:24 AM
Skype is very handy. this'd work really well Smiley) thanks

It's been patched. What are you talking about? What worked really well?
6956  Other / Off-topic / Re: Paying Bitcoins for people to test and give feedback for my first Java game! on: December 29, 2013, 12:55:26 AM
I would caution everyone here that you not blindly trust code from a user who's first post out of newbie jail is a request for you to run an EXE on your system. An exe or Java bytecode can do anything at any time, including installing a backdoor or grabbing your wallet.

One reason I ran on a old machine which I do not use for anything else except taking apart. Also, it was tested in a virtual machine as this computer doesn't run windows.
6957  Economy / Gambling / Re: 2012 DODGE RAM HEMI RAFFLE. ONLY 500 tickets. on: December 29, 2013, 12:53:23 AM

I am new to the bitcoin world and this is truly Not a scam. Can you elaborate the best way in that I can create this escrow fund? I will put on the numbers on a bowl and I can pick the number out of the bow by live stream to ensure the authenticity.
Thanks for your question and I hope to make this work.

You can contact anyone offering escrow services. If you are new I'm sure they would guide you through it. Otherwise, people will not trust that you are actually going to deliver.
6958  Economy / Gambling / Re: 2012 DODGE RAM HEMI RAFFLE. ONLY 500 tickets. on: December 29, 2013, 12:42:09 AM
Okay. To prove this is not a scam you should have a escrow which people send the money. Then when you have sold the tickets and have chosen a random winner the escrow will release the funds. Also how will you determine the winner?
6959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need to *Replace* Fiat? on: December 29, 2013, 12:09:58 AM
To the normal person who is scared of new things, they will never use it. EVER.

Remember, that everything is new at some point. I'm going to bring up Paypal. They were new when they first started and a lot of people didn't want to use them because they were sceptical. However, after time it becomes one of the most popular services used. Of course, some people are still sceptical.

As long as Bitcoin is presented in a good way and has enough tutorials and guidance and most importantly gets enough positive media attention then people will start to get interested.
6960  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to start out with no Bitcoins on: December 28, 2013, 11:47:43 PM
Why do you want to mine? Why do all newbs want to mine? Its for pros now.

I don't think it's for pros. It's for people who are willing to invest and not to expect anything back for a long time.
